A Food Affair Restaurant
A recent discovery for me,A recent discovery for me, A Food Affair is EVERYTHING I love in a restaurant (short of a fabulous view, that is, but that's totally okay here). The service is perfect mix of warmth, charm, and competence; the decor/atmosphere simple, nicely understated, and somehow transports you to some quaint, cozy town outside of Paris; and with a refreshing lack of pretentiousness, the food they offer is shockingly brilliant -- as good as I've had in any of the best LA restaurants. Oh, and it's strickly BYOB so very easy on the budget.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWestside gemA great addition to the Westside. Beautiful presentations of contemporary French food w/ an international twist. A relative bargain for food and service of such high quality---and with the current zero corkage (waiting for its license), a real steal. Highly recommended.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazingFood was phenomenal. The whole dining experience was so soothing and so yummy. Not only that but it was so beautiful. The owners were amazing. Overall I went there on my birthday it was wonderful.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat little french placeAuthentic, delicious, quaint. Service was prompt, but not overly fussy. The food was expertly prepared, full of rich, French flavour. Ambience of the restaurant just had a lot of happy people, but the intimate and warm decor led everyone to not be too loud which makes it a good place for a romantic occasion, or a family meal, etc...
Food portions are moderately sized, but the dishes we ordered were quite rich. Waitress will be very helpful if you want to put together a full meal that isn't too filling.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMA Bit of Southern France in WLAWhat a wonderful find! Simply delicious food, especially the bouillabaisse. Service impeccable and so friendly, all done with a family flair. Restaurant was full and I could easily hear my partner, so rare these days. Will be a regular,5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGREAT DINNER FOR MOTHER DAYI GOT EMAIL FROM OPEN TABLE, WHERE TO GO ON MOTHER DAY. WE DECIDE TO GO TO " A FOOD AFFAIR" AND IT WAS RIGHT PLACE TO GO. THE FOOD WAS GREAT, THE SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT, WE ENJOY THIS PLACE VERY MUCH. IT WAS A FIRST TIME FOR US AND WE WERE VERY VERY SATISFIED WITH THE CHOICE WE MADE. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE IF YOU WANT TO EAT DELICIOUS FOOD AND HAVE A VERY FRIENDLY SERVICE.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent serviceWe were treated very nicely--visited by the chef and the owner. You can bring your own wine and they will not charge corkage fee. You can relax and enjoy a great meal with family and/or friends. Highly recommend it. And yes, the prices are fantastic for the quality of food you get.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMNeighborhood FindOne of my favorite salads here is grilled romaine with turkey bacon, blue cheese and roasted pear, but tonight they added fresh mango and gave it a summer twist. I love when I order a steak rare and it actually comes out that way! Not only was my steak done to order, but it was HUGE and flavorful with wonderful spinach and onions. Also tried the lemocello cake for dessert and somehow managed to eat a few bites after my meal simply because it was so light and airy.
They are getting very popular, so reserve a table if you want to go....I think this hidden neighborhood gem has been discovered!5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were happy to find thisWe were happy to find this "new for us" restaurant on Open Table. The staff is very friendly and hospitable. Babette, the owner, is lovely. We had a very good dinner beginning with duck rillettes to share, creatively plated. The duck confit was very good with wonderful lentil salad and my husband enjoyed his steak. We brought a very good bottle of red wine with us. I assume that eventually they will be licensed as it is hard to make a living in a restaurant if you are not selling wine. But for now, BYOB is very nice. No valet parking, but street parking was not a problem.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe appetizers are very goodThe appetizers are very good and the specials. For instance we enjoyed the short ribs and the mushroom tart was quite good4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightful French BistroNot only is the food superb, but the couple who own it are professionals who know how to be personable. This is truly a place for a friendly feast, and BYOB with no corkage means you can enjoy your meal with your favorite wine.
I started with a charred romaine salad with crispy pancetta, blue cheese, pomegranate seeds and roasted bosc pear for $8 that could have been a meal in and of itself. Great combination of flavors and lovely presentation.
I chose the Boeuf Bourguignon for $18 which came with wild mushrooms, paparadelle, pearl onions, turkey bacon and carrots that was so perfectly done, I don't think I will ever go to the trouble of making it myself again. The portion was so generous that I ended up taking half of it home.
I tr4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThe owners are so friendlyThe owners are so friendly and kind! We've dined here twice within a month and we can't wait to go back.Yummy dishes and friendly staff.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMculinary delight!Charming. Food was excellent, even down to the presentation. Everything smelled so good. Felt like I was having an authentic home cooked meal in France. Dessert was also homemade. Just a wonderful culinary night. Ample street parking. My new favorite restaurant!4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMI tried the Bouillabaise andI tried the Bouillabaise and it invoked memories of Nice with fragrant fennel, leeks and grape tomatoes in a light seafood broth. The fish and seafood were cooked perfectly and I highly recommend this dish to anyone who wants something filling yet light.
For dessert my eyes immediately went to the Tahitian Vanilla crème brûlée which was absolutely perfect with the lightly burnt sugar topping and the creamy vanilla custard.
They source as many of their ingredients locally and organically as possible, so you can rest assured that they are not skimping on quality.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMNeighborhood GemCharming French restaurant, reasonably priced with an excellent menu. The creative food presentation added to the overall dining experience. The friendliness of the chef owner and his wife bring a homey atmosphere to the dining room. We can't wait to bring our friends next time.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food and very niceDelicious food and very nice people - we'll be coming back with friends.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMCozy and quaint and very welcoming.Cozy and quaint and very welcoming. We will be back soon.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMOn its way for sure!I(and my friends) really liked it.
The food was very good and the staff very friendly and hospitable.
The outdoor dining was noisy right on Robertson, a few too many sirens and they haven't quite worked out how to arrange the tables so that there is adequate room and so that they don't need to keep moving tables and chairs around in an attempt to accommodate patrons.
All and all, I think it is going to end up quite nice.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time there. Great food,First time there. Great food, really delicious. Will return. Not great with substitutions. A bit pricey when you have to pay for a full side of roasted veggies when you don't care for the veggies that come with the entrée.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant is consistentlyThis restaurant is consistently wonderful every time! The food is amazing and so is the service. Highly recommended!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat French food at reasonableGreat French food at reasonable prices and very attentive owners.

All of the "old favorite" dishes were on the menu, with a few pleasant surprises. Everything was well prepared. The service was attentive, but not intrusive. It was quiet enough to have a real conversation. The setting in cozy. This is the place you will return to on a regular basis. For a romantic date, or a dinner with friends, this is the place.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat French Bistro. EverythingGreat French Bistro.
