Diner Reviews
  • "Visited AF&B for lunch with three of my friends. We are a group of ladies who enjoy good food and wine and this place exceeded our expectations. The service and food was outstanding! I had the Duck Pot Pie and it was packed with moist succulent duck meat with a puff pastry crust on top! My friends raved about their food as well! Looking forward to going back with my husband for dinner or for brunch!"

  • "From arrival to departure, service was impeccable and never seemed forced or phony. The food was very good but not necessarily innovative. We enjoyed it though and will definitely be back often."

  • "AF+B has been open since Jan 2014 and has already established itself as one of the top restaurants in the Museum district. Stylish low-key interior, separate bar area (so noise in the restaurant area is low). Good selection of Farm to Table menu options. Excellent service with well-informed wait staff, and portions are a good size without being either too big or skimpy. A great experience overall."

  • "Really have no complaints other than, for the price, the Lamb Saddle is not even close to a full serving compared to other dishes. Nothing I hate more than going home and wanting to eat! The wait staff has complete knowledge of the menu. Very clean all round. Everyone from host/hostess to the bus staff very curteous and friendly. Just wish I had gotten the burger or fish."

  • "The restaurant has a relaxing atmosphere..beautiful, rustic chic. We had a reservation for 4 on Sunday for brunch. Server Jamie was attentive and friendly. Brunch was delicious. We especially enjoyed the Gulf Blue Deviled Crabs, the Chorizo Scotch Eggs, and the Fried Grouper Sandwich (the spicy remoulade was very tasty). Hummingbird Cake dessert was light and the perfect amount of sweetness."

  • "We had dinner with friends and sat in the main dining area. The service was prompt, friendly and knowledgeable. Excellent drinks, appetizers and meals - including some of the best french fries I've had in a long time. We'll be heading back there soon!"

  • "Really enjoyed dinner at AF+B. Ambiance is comfortable chic. Best of all, the menu is inventive, ingredients are locally sourced and very fresh. The green pasta was tasty and the red snapper was fabulous. French press coffee with ice cream taster was the perfect ending to a great meal. Service was attentive and friendly. Valet is easy to use and made arrival and departure really simple. We made reservations which helped on a Friday evening. Definitely recommend."

  • "I made a reservation for a good-sized group recently and left disappointed. The service was rather slow and I never saw a wine list. I ended up getting the house cab (after waiting for a clean wine glass) which was non-offensive. I ordered the lamb saddle and when I asked for it medium rare I was told "they don't really do that". I don't eat a lot of lamb but am pretty sure this can be cooked to varying degrees of "done". It came out (medium rare, to be fair) and was slathered in sauce and judging by the temperature seemed like it had been sitting out for about fifteen minutes waiting on everyone else's entree. I think I had a pretty good salad but that's not what I remember about AF&B. Not worth the $$$."

  • "Re discover the meaning of GOOD farm to Market concept here! Our waiter Kyle, directed us to some excellent fresh healthy choices, which we will return for, the Kale salad, rivals any around (yes, even Hannah's), and the full squash barley will put a smile on any vegetarian's face. The house made rigatoni was also to die for and highly recommended. Next time we return, we shall save room for a key lime dessert, just added to the menu. Do not miss an opportunity to check this venue out!"

  • "Great food! Several unusual food choices on the menu to try if adventurous, but the staples are well represented. Lacking in appetizers if you are looking for munchie type items. Service was the best. Fried Chicken is excellent! Atmosphere is wonderful. Great bar, reasonably priced too!"

  • "Spacious, clean lines with Great Food, attentive staff and manager stops by to check if everything going well; must try Beef Rib and a Mac and Cheese you won't find better anywhere!"

  • "Food was very good; one member of our party got the burger and raved about it. Scotch eggs a must-try. Waiter seemed to disappear for periods, although he kept an eye on us from the service area. He was not intrusive, which was good, and was informative on the menu/drinks."

  • "Great dinner with excellent service. Party of four started with excellent martinis, followed by delicious crispy quail (a perfect bite for each of us) and house made ricotta and fava bean toasts. House special fish was Cobia, which turned out to be perfectly sauced and seasoned, served with cauliflower and grapefruit. Very unusual and delicious. Excellent service and atmosphere. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "I had high expectations due to a recent glowing review from Leslie Brenner. We ordered more food than we needed so that we could taste a lot of things, and the waitress let us know that we had ordered a lot (which i appreciated). The bacon was great...very thick (but still cooked enough). The fried chicken was way above average (four pieces in an order), and the accompanying biscuits were also very good. The frittata was enjoyed by my wife (i am not a big fan of cooking eggs that way in general) but the flavor was good. The ony thing that was average was the beef cheek hash. Some management type came by to check on us (twice). I will definitely come back to try the hamburger/fries and order the fried chicken again...nice mix of customers"

  • "Had cobia and red snapper entrees and both were delicious. Server was new and it was very apparent. Somewhat annoying but he was nice enough. Asked a few questions about menu but instead of telling me he wasn't sure & was new, he tried to answer. He needed to excuse himself & say he would find out & return. Wish they had healthier options for appetizers(we don't care for oysters and don't think that salads are appetizers-which we did get and both were good).Interesting menu but was pleasantly surprised with our entrees. Will return because we love the area too."

  • "The scotch eggs and oysters were fantastic. The Bloody Mary was not our favorite but the other drinks were superb! Great atmosphere for a friends dinner. Would love to try the other menu items."

  • "I am not too be into trendy and places that look really cool and sleek... because they typically disappoint in quality of the food. I enjoyed the ambience, but was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. The staff was all very good - warm, friendly and inviting as well. I have found a new regular place!"

  • "Nothing my group had was merely 'good'. Every plate was a knockout. From the appetizers to the entrees to the desserts. My favorites were the Scotch Eggs and the Texas Grapefruit Tart. Ernesto took excellent care of us. Well worth the 1.5 hour drive!"

  • "This was our first time to dine at AF&B. The dining room was light and airy and not too loud - no over hearing the conversation next to you. We each enjoyed our food. I chose the sea bass which was delightful and my husband really liked his grouper sandwich. We made an excellent wine choice which was a little spendy, but we liked it so much that we decided it was worth it. Our waitress was friendly, knowledgeable, professional and attentive. We were so comfortable that we stayed for another glass of wine. I think we will most likely return."

  • "From the moment we walked in the door, the staff was on their "A game".We were courteously greeted. While we waited on our guests to join us, we enjoyed a drink at the roomy bar with the friendly bartender who graciously provided tastings of 2 wines. He also informed us about his favorite menu pics, which were great. Nice roomy bar area. When our guests arrived, we were seated at a PERFECT corner table (described as our "private room" by the host). Food was awesome. Hubby's appetizer of chili could have easily been a meal of its own. Blue crab cakes were tasty--nothing to write home about. My Fried Chicken and Biscuits were heavenly!! Tasted like mom's. Hubby's hamburger was huge and tasty. No room for dessert, but coffee was great."

  • "It was decent. I was still hungry though when I left. Portion of Cobia fish with veggies was not great. Need a bigger selection on menu. Service was great and bar area was fun. Great beer selection on draft. I would go back for drinks but not for the food. I should not have had to stop to get fast food on the way home after spending $24 on food."

  • "I live in the neighborhood, so I was very interested to go try AF&B having seen the sign up for quite a while. Interesting drinks, nothing boring on the menu and excellent service from the staff. No disappointments from the moment I walked in. First visit will NOT be my last!!"

  • "Had a group of 4 ladies. Made reservation at got seated immediately. Two ladies ordered from the "small" plates list and liked their choices. Two others ordered the salad with chicken. It was very good with a nice helping of very moist chicken. Found $16 for a salad only to be expensive, but that seems to be the norm (just like Pacific Table). After lunch I tied up the table with a lingering business meeting with one of the ladies, and was so relieved not to feel rushed out at all. My only complaint was that I wanted to have a cup of coffee, but because they make it in a French press I had to buy 2cups minimum for $6. That's RIDICULOUS!!"

  • "AF+B was an incredible experience! All the food was fresh and flavorful. I was surprised by the unique flavor combinations and even more pleasantly surprised by how attentive and knowledgeable the staff was. Their bartender’s drinks were quirky and innovative. I will definitely be returning to try all the delicious menu items I did get to sample. I think I will hit up their brunch next. It looks amazing!"

  • "LOVED this visit...our third! Service was slow ...which I hope they are working on. We will definitely return. Hosts at door are outstanding...most restaurants fail in this area. Cheers for realizing it is the very first impression one has of the restaurant."

  • "My wife and I are foodies and love the West 7th area, made a late reservation at A F & B to try and is now our favorite restaurant on the strip. Wait staff was very knowledgeable about the drink and food menu, atmosphere was simple and inviting. We first notices the wall art how the photos depicted craftsmanship of all sorts and already knew the attention to detail would reflect in the menu. We highly recommend you save room for dessert. The 'Coffee Toffee Apple Pudding' is a must have! The place is best for a trendy night out with your significant other and will definitely impress if you have a vast palate for simple yet very satisfying flavours."

  • "A great experience! Top notch service. The cobia was too salty (we both tried it) BUT they immediately replaced it - second time was delicious! Management very attentive and corrected our concern quickly! Dessert, coffee topped it off! Don't forget to try the chorizo scotch eggs - truly devilish!!! We will be back! Brunch with the family is next!!"
