Go early enough to catch the sunset - it's all about the location, and tables are almost all located along the window overlooking SF Bay. Food was excellent, fresh, and seasonal. Warning though - it's a LONG cab ride, so best to get there via car or ferry.

The menu, wine list, service all indicate that Caprice is going to be a great experience. The quality of the food and cooking delivered on the promise, mostly. We went with a group of 5 people and had a fantastic time, it's a casual environment, but still has a sophisticated feel. The food itself was cooked to perfection, with each course delivered together and the flavors complimenting each other. The only issue with the food was that certain parts of each of our dishes were overly salty. There seems to be a trend in the bay area to over salt food lately, and Caprice definitely fell into this. The other strange thing was that they included the gratuity in our bill. I've never seen this for a small group and it was not on the menu

It was a quiet night (few patrons) so it felt like having the whole restaurant for ourselves. Too bad the chanterelles had to be replaced by oyster mushrooms. Service somewhat slow despite the lacks of customers but the waiter might have wanted to give the four of us some space and time for our conversation.

The Caprice had some of the best service I have had in the Bay Area. Great view of the Golden Gate Bridge and the food was good too! The wine list was a little sparse, but our server did a great job of making recommendations. Even though we were ordering by the glass, our server insisted we try the wines that caught our eye before we committed to them. I would certainly go back to this place.

Caprice stands out for its incredible setting overlooking San Francisco Bay in Tiburon. All the tables have a view, most against the windows. The staff was wonderfully cordial. We had beet and goat cheese salad, halibut (both good, but not exceptional) and butternut squash soup and scallop dish (both excellent). The desserts were beautifully presented and even better to eat. Had an excellent Central Coast Pinot Noir that was moderately priced. We would definitely return.

The meal was fantastic. I don't know why this place doesn't do more business (although I suspect it is the location). But it is actually easy to get to and parking has never been a problem. The menu tends to be brief, five appetizers and fine entrees, but inspired. I enjoyed the monk fish and it was extremely well prepared. The sauces were well proportioned, not overpowering and not underdeveloped, and the fish was prepared perfectly. I hate brussel sprouts but my meal came with the most flavorful and enjoyable brussel sprouts ever. The chocolate dessert is perfect for the chocolate lover in all of us. Our host, Michael was charming, the wait staff attentive without being overbearing and the restaurant was romantic and quiet

Heartbreaking, when I think of the thought and money that must have gone into the current Caprice! It was a Saturday night, around 7:30. The view was extraordinary, the food was first class, service professional but warm, etc.....and the place was only half full. No need for valet parking! Expensive, but not nearly as bad as some lesser establishments. The late Jerry Noble insisted: "The qualities of the food and of the view have an inverse relationship." Here is an exception to prove the rule.

Our dinner was excellent. Service was super. Setting overlooking SF Bay is fantastic. Our table was intimate, soft lighting, with good jazz standards music adding to the atmosphere. The frozen ricotta balls with the heirloom tomato starter was excessive, but the dish was delicious. The Black Bass entree to our taste was a bit too rich, however very tasty - and attractively presented. The gnocchi was a knockout! All the dishes were pretty as a picture. Each ice cream in the medley was distinctive and yummy. The strawberry dessert was stunning to look at and totally wonderful.

We dined at The Caprice for 4th of July hoping to get a nice view of the bay and fireworks. We did call, however we were quite late for our reservation and the hostess was very nice about accommodating us anyway. The service was a bit slow, but the staff was very pleasant. The food was made with care and very fresh ingredients but still was only fair. We did enjoy a lovely fireworks display and would certainly return for the view on any night.

This is, hand's-down, the best overall restaurant in south Marin and yet few people seem to know about it. The quality of the food compared favorably to our recent dinner at Auberge de Carmel, at maybe half the price. The view is spectacular, the ambience nice but not intimidating. The wine list is compact but each selection is a winner, and the pour is very generous. If you live in Marin, get yourself there; if you live in the city, take the ferry to Tiburon, take a short walk along the Bay, and treat yourself to this fabulous find.

Two words: tiny food. I've been going to the Caprice every few years since around 1992, and they've obviously decided to go further upscale to the point of the main course being smaller than the average appetizer, but on a artsy plate with lots of interesting garnish. How about a nice robust meal like they used to have?

We had a very enjoyable evening at Caprice. The room and views are outstanding, the service was perfectly attentive and the noise level was very low. We found the menu to be quite interesting and the food was good. Many of the dishes are interesting and quite complex to prepare. Hats off to the chef for bringing this level of sophistication to an otherwise sleepy restuarant town. Our only complaint was that the portions were on the small side. While we prefer smaller "European-sized" portions, we left feeling a bit empty, particularly given the menu pricing. The price was in the special occasion category - a meal for two with appetizers, dessert and a modest bottle of wine was just under $300 inclusive of gratuity.

Everything was great. The only surprise of the night was that they changed the menu from a tasting menu to mostly a la carte. The tasting was limited to 5 and 7 courses, which would be more food than even a linebacker could eat. The food and service and view were excellent, just felt a little disappointed in the menu change - I'd loved the freedom of the former menu, being able to try so many things for a fairly decent price. But it's worth every penny - a great place for a celebration or romantic date. Can't recommend it enough.

I am a foodie and love restaurants with unusual cuisine. I don't mind paying the price. I frequent Gary Danko, Domaine Chandon, Parcel 104, La Foret, Lark Creek and other fine restaurants. The Caprice was a major disappointment. The food was not good and very small portions. Risotto had too much lemon. Crab Benedict had not flavor. The sauce was not good. My nephew had a salad which was very small and an embarrassment. I made the reservations for Mother's Day and expected a special event. We were all hungry afterwards and my mother who is 90 ate snacks all afternoon afterwards. We all did I was very disappointed and embarrassed that I selected this restaurant. The only saving grace was the spectacular view, but certainly not worth it.

My wife and I loved the flavors of the dishes and the service was good. My only wish with the service would be that they described what was on the dish. We did not like the new menu. It was like that commercial with elf food. For the price we felt the sizes were too small. My lamb dish had just four one inch cubes of lamb on the dish. My cheese course had a very small piece of cheese. The flavors were good but I just don't think I'd come back. They are serving small plates like they are regular menu items and charging $56 for 3 plates. They need to adjust prices and go to a small plates format or return to the old format of appetizers, mains and dessert. So I doubt I would return. That's too bad because I have loved Caprice for many years.
