While there is a lovely window overlooking michigan avenue, there is only room for about four tables at that area and the other tables are tucked behind very large columns. The menu had few choices and unusual foods that would appeal to very few. I chose the pasta. I didn't finish it because it wasn't worth it. They are very overpriced with a lot of staff mulling around in the quiet open kitchen. This is very overrated and quite a disappointment at a heft price. IDE pass"

  • "We had lunch on a beautiful sunny day and were lucky to be seated at the window. My husband started with the oysters, which he loved and also enjoyed the attractive presentation over salt. I started with the delicious winter white bean soup, and somehow refrained from licking the bowl. My husband then had the roasted vegetable panini (he's still raving about it) and I had the tiger roll, also wonderful. We finished with the gelato....and we're ready to do it all over again!"

I had the fluke special, my husband had the short ribs, both fantastic. We started with some sushi, they were kind enough to give us 4 rolls of 2 kinds instead of the standard 8 rolls of 1 kind without any fuss. Service, food, view...everything was outstanding."

  • "We booked last minute so our seating was late. Service was prompt, wait staff were very friendly. The waiter's recommendations for entrees and wine were spot on. We saw the imported kitchen prep cooking island and met the chef. This made our evening extra special. The only thing they really need to change out are their water glasses. They are small and I needed at least 4 refills for the 2 hours we were there. We know great food and each dish from salad to dessert was was divine. ."

  • "We were very late for our reservation for an early seating but they allowed us to dine. We managed to get a window table which was beautiful with all the St. Patrick's day doings, the early evening light on the lake and the cityscape. We had a couple starters for the table and some drinks. Then we ordered dinner. Both were excellent. You never miss with the fish at Nomi but a couple in our group had the beef short ribs and they raved about them. We never felt any pressure to finish or move on. Kudos to the chef and staff at Nomi for making a great outing a night to remember."

  • "We came here for brunch before a play at the MCA. After a lousy experience at Cafe Spiaggia, and a topsy-turvy one at Bar Toma, both nearby, we were thrilled--thrilled--with NoMI. The sides (bacon, sausage--especially the bacon), the mains (eggs benedict), and the drinks were all superb. Service was excellent. Atmosphere very pleasant. We were fortunate, our table had a view of the Water Tower, etc., but when you walk through the restaurant, and especially the bar area on the south side, it's pleasant throughout, whether you're in need of a view or not. I would come back here for just a drink any time, definitely will be back for dinner. We'll check out their Garden too once it opens (April 1, south-west facing)."

  • "My salmon on spaghetti squash left me comfortable, but not sure how I liked spaghetti squash as it was hidden by the salmon and flavor overwhelmed by salmon. It was my daughter's 18th Birthday and they said Happy Birthday, but it is the first time no acknowledgement given. However, we left and went to Cheesecake Factory and their dessert was delicious and the attentive staff more than made up for the uneventful time at NoMI."

  • "I have been to NoMI several times before always with a good result. This time, however, there was a woman at the next table playing with her smartphonbe with a ringer turned on. Every 30 seconds or so it would make a loud ring. I was very disappointed that the wait staff or host did not consider the other diners and ask the woman to turn off the ringer. Finally after about 15 annoying minutes of this noise I had to ask the wait staff to ask her to turn it off. This is not my expectation for a good restaurant. It ruined the atmosphere and it was so easy to fix but there was no attempt to do so."

We notified the server we were not in a hurry but still had to send our entrees back as they came when we had just started our appetizers. This is not a foodie place. Flavor profiles were simple and shallow. It's more of a truffle oil place than a real truffle one."

  • "Have been to the bar for appetizers and drinks in the past. First time in the dining room. Had a view of Water Tower, some was obscured by those huge support beams. Every course we had was prepared and plated beautifully. Server made some great selections for our wine to compliment our meals. I will be back-next time back to the bar! Those tables along the windows completely empty on a Thursday evening. Very secluded feeling there, more so than in the dining room."

  • "Really a perfect dining experience. Got a great suggestion for a cocktail in the lounge and it was great. Our waiter was phenominal. Incredibly nice and very attentive. Also had a window seat and looking out on the Water Tower and Michigan Ave at night was just awesome. We had the short ribs, scallops and cheddar-potato puree. I don't typically eat cheese or potatoes for nutrition purposes, but oh my god, I couldn't stop eating that - they were amazing. The short ribs and scallops were perfect and the wine we had was great. Yes, it's expensive, but it is beyond worth it, especially when you accept that going into it. Just a wonderful experience. Will absolutely be back."

Food was delicious - I opted out of the wine flight offered but my girlfriends tried it and received 3-4 glasses. The short rib I was just sort of okay with and the desert was nothing special.   • "Wanting to try Nomi for a while. Chose it for lunch to celebrate my 50th birthday. Great choice! Even on a cloudy, rainy Chicago day, the view is spectacular. The food is outstanding. Prepared and served beautifully. Not too much but just enough. Our service was outstanding. Everyone was so nice and accommodating. Can't wait to visit again I'm the very near future so we can dine on the outdoor patio"

  • "Went on the Sunday after Valentines day, thinking it would be packed, but it was relatively quiet. We were granted a window seat with a fantastic view of Mich Ave. Our service was patient and available at all times (as we took our time trying to figure out what to order.) The food was beautiful and delicious. My only SMALL critique was that the salmon that we ordered was described by our server as pan-seared then baked, but there was no real seared side, so it was a bit mushy, as was the rest of the dish. The kitchen was so generous, they even brought out 2 free desserts. And accommodated us with a corkage fee and allowed us to bring a special bottle of wine from my collection. Definitely will go back!"

  • "We were in from out of town and made reservations 12 days before we arrived, requesting a window table, which is a major part of the dining experience they offer. I was not told on the confirmation we were not going to be able to get the requested table and while seated at the restaurant in my obstructed view table, we looked at a window table sit unoccupied for 1/2 hour. When I asked the hostess they said the table had been reserved since early January. So that begs the question, why didn't you tell me I would not be able to get the tablet if you already knew the tables were taken? Perhaps I could have come at a later time? Perhaps I could have made a reservation somewhere else? Ah, there it is, they want you there anyway."
