Diner Reviews
  • "The food was good, the service excellent and the location fun as you can watch the aircraft take off and land at Van Nuys Airport while you eat."

  • "I went to the Aero Squadron in San Diego a few weeks before coming to this one in Van Nuys. The San Diego location had interesting battle decor, wonderful servers, and better food (lamb was amazing). The Van Nuys location felt anemic. The decor was boring, the service was slow (had to wait fifteen minutes before we even got a server), and the food wasn't all that great. The only thing that saved the experience was the turkey. Best turkey I've ever had, but I wouldn't pay thirty dollars a head to have good turkey. I'd rather have a wonderful dinner with a glass of wine. I would not return to the Van Nuys location, but I love the San Diego location."

  • "I took my husband there as part of an airplane-theme birthday. We had taken a flying lesson together at Van Nuys airport and this restaurant is right beside the runway. I thought it would be fun. The restaurant has a kitschy, Disneyland-esque WWII decor complete with a "bombed out" farmhouse on one side that also serves as a private hall for big gatherings. On Sundays it is brunch only and the place was pretty full. There was seafood, including sushi, Mexican food, carved meats, omelette bar, desserts of all kinds, etc. The selection was pretty extensive. Between my husband and I we tried a bit a large number of the offerings, and I'm sad to say it was all rather mediocre. I think IHOP or Denny's would have had better quality a flavor."

  • "I love this place. We took some friends here for my wife's birthday. The brunch has something for everyone's food tastes. The food was excellent and we had a very relaxed, enjoyable time. Looking forward to going back."

  • "I really enjoyed my experience at your restaurant. the food was delicious, the scenery was beautiful and the staff was very professional and courteous. Thank you for a great experience."

  • "The food, while there was a bounty of choices to select from, was decent, but nothing really stood out as being of exceptional quality. It's nice to have the selection to choose from, but it's evident that they compromise on the overall quality of the ingredients. That's understandable, as it's a tough economy, but disappointing none-the-less. I will qualify that I did not try everything, so some of the items I did not try might have been great. Also, I did have the fruit and the watermelon and pineapple was excellent. I would recommend the restaurant, emphasizing how the atmosphere was cool, and there's a huge variety to choose from, yet it didn't necessarily meet up with my quality expectations."

  • "Everyone enjoyed the meal they had. The meat/seafood, was cooked as requested, was moist and tasty. The onion soup was cheesy but bland."

  • "This visit and last, servers were REALLY BAD about serving coffee & refills! Noticed that servers pay more attention to patrons who order alcoholic drinks. This visit, I asked server twice to get coffee and repeated asked for a refill. After second time I asked for refill on coffee, server asked someone else to get the request. That person forgot as well and when he walked by the table, saw the expression on his face when he walked by and realized he had forgotten when he saw me looking at him and waiting. I drank less coffee than I normally would. For the money that we are paying, either train servers to be on the ball for refills or provide a pot of coffee at the table or make it available where I can serve myself and my guests."

  • "There was almost no one there! At 7:30 on a Saturday!!! They did not have tablecloths on the tables, just silverware. They did nothing for our guest's birthday, although I said on the reservation that it was his birthday. The food was ok, but we will not go again. At least we can say we've been there!"

  • "A very special place for lunch with get acquainted internet date. Waitress friendly and took photos of my guest and I. Motif in WWI memorabilia including a Spad aircraft, cannon, and Jeep in addition to simulated bombed out building. Located almost on the runway at Van Nuys is interesting for the aviation fans. Out door dining or visiting after the meal in a plus. My favorite restaurant."

  • "I have been a customer for over 15 years. I don't go often but have held it in high esteem for romantic dinners and special occasion parties. This time I was very disappointed. The food was mediocre at best (variety and quality) service was average and the atmosphere was a lot less lively than it used to be years ago. The only thing that went up is the price of the brunch. Unfortunately, I doubt that I will be coming back."

  • "This was a surprise Open Table find for us and we had a great night sitting along the runway while enjoying outstanding service and very good food. If you are looking for a Van Nuys dining experience, this is a great choice."

  • "Although we were late for the reservation, they were still able to sit us in a relatively quiet area for this business meeting. Service was spot on as well as the food."

  • "Althought the restaurant wasn't busy, service was slow. Some items arrived out of ordered. Had to request water refills, bread (not offered automatically as in the past), etc."

  • "We were a large group placed in a very awkward spot with no room to get in and out, so much so that the waitress had trouble serving and removing food, which may explain why the service was so lacking. Why bring more bread or drinks if you can't get it on the table? The food was ordinary but fresh. The restaurant has ambiance but it's wasted by crowding. I don't think I'd host another large group here."

  • "Really interesting cool place. It was a nice restaurant with a cool look and you could see the airplanes take off. Really quiet inside even with that, and outside area looked beautiful though we didn't sit there."

  • "My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary here at the Sunday brunch. We brought our 2 young sons. The food and service were excellent, and our older son really enjoyed watching the airplanes land and take off at Van Nuys airport. We will definitely be returning."

  • "Food was good, service was kind of slow, definitely get a table toward the left side of the restaurant maybe even downstairs (outside is the best)."

  • "My husband and I went here for our anniversary dinner and had a lovely time. We mentioned that another couple was going to join us for drinks when we made our reservation via open table and they were prepared and happy to accommodate our needs. The food was good as was the service. While the wine list is lacking, the bar is fully stocked and mixes wonderful drinks."

  • "Father's Day brunch was very crowded and the food was okay but not to the level of other buffets that we have gone to in recent months. Food layout was very hard to get to and congested."

  • "We've always heard about the 94th but never went. So we arranged for a Father's Day brunch. After a short wait we were seated in a veranda that mimicked a bombed out French farm house. Fun! Also, being able to watch the planes take off and land on the adjacent runway of Van Nuys airport was great. The buffet was complete, we especially enjoyed the omelet bar and carving station. Everyone enjoyed the food. The desserts were also good, including the chocolate fountain and the myriad of pastries, pies, and cakes."

  • "The food was good although some of it didn't taste as fresh as it could be, and some of my food was more or less on the colder side. I guess that's what you get for a buffet though. The buffet was confusing the way it was arranged, it shouldn't have been divided into separate rooms, I felt like I missed a whole section of food. Although the desserts looked good I steared clear once I saw kids using their hands to grab the food instead of the serving utensils, someone should have been monitoring that. I had made a reservation for 11:30 and showed up on time but was not sat until 11:45. My whole purpose for making the reservation was so my father didn't have to wait in the hot sun, since he has a heart condition. It was not worth what I paid."

  • "The food was not refilled in a timely manner, wait time was extremely long! Waitress was not on top of her tables and charged my credit card 3 times! 2 days later still waiting for it to be corrected, no call back from the GM and now paying bank charge as well"

  • "The Fruit at the buffet had an onion taste. Like The kitchen staff cut onione then with the same knife they cut the fruit. Much less verity of food than the last time we were there. Service was slow."

  • "This is not our first time at this restaurant. They set out an outstanding Sunday buffet. Many, many different choices. Delicious carving station, great selection of entrees and breakfast items. We went at 9am and it was very quiet and relaxing. I haven't eaten so much in a long time. We'll be back!"

  • "great food but the service was very poor. I had great memories of the 94th from years ago. Was in town visiting my mother. She wanted to take us out to dinner remembered the 94th from years past but what a disappointment. Will never go back"

  • "My wife and I loved this place. We had never heard of it before. I passed by it on one of morning runs and thought it seemed interesting so we decided to check it out for the Sunday brunch. And now we can't wait to go back. The food was delicious, the staff was very friendly and there's something very soothing about watching ducks while eating your breakfast on a beautiful Sunday morning. The entire experience was excellent. And so was the food."

  • "We had lunch reservations for my son's 5th birthday. We arrived a bit early, but our table was ready. When I gave the hostess my name she turned to my son to wish him a happy birthday. I requested a table with an unobstructed view of the runway, which we received. The service was excellent and the food was great. The kids ordered macaroni and cheese off the kids' menu. It was Kraft, which my children love, but I wasn't expecting that. The others in our party had the french dip, hamburger, and soup and sandwich combo. Everyone was happy with the food. My family was able to walk around and explore the restaurant; there was a lot to see. Overall it was a great experience, especially for my 5 year old who loves airplanes."

  • "We were there to celebrate our Mom for a be-lated Mother's Day. The food, atmosphere, hostest were all great but our waiter was missing most of the time. We had to bus our own table and with a brunch that shouldn't happen. With five people we were always having to clean off our own table to rid ourselves of the extra dishes that kept piling up. And when we asked our waiter for anything, it always took him forever to bring it to us. I finally went in search of our own lemons, sweet and low and more napkins."

  • "We all had a wonderful time. The food was delicious & the service excellent. We all loved watching the planes take off & land, especially my 3 year old nephew. It was a first time visit for my niece & her husband, and for my nephew & his wife who live very close. They all loved being there & were surprised to find such a beautiful restaurant in the middle of an industrial area. As always my favorite way to spend the afternoon with - Good Food & Good Company!"
