Not up to the level I expected at that price range. There was one dish that was absolutely awful and neither my wife nor I could eat it. A shrimp dish was so overly spicy that my wife did not eat it. I ate them, but probably shouldn't have. At the same price point as places like Jaleo's, a big disappointment.

The menus seemed to have some "foofy" foods on it and one person in our party is a fairly simplistic eater, not adventurous. The waiter patiently went over everything on teh menu with her and made some terrific reccomendations. Every single thing each of us had was probably teh best I have had in years of going to resturants in the District. The service was fantastic, and our waiter was great. You have to try the bread pudding with coffee sauce for dessert, it is made with doughtnuts, and was unbelieveable. Actaully, everything was unbelieveable. I highly reccomend 901!

  • Almost like American-style
    OpenTable Diner Since 2011

Almost like American-style tapas, 901 Restaurant + Bar has a great menu for sharing with your group. We enjoyed several of the appetizers in smaller portions, with the duck rolls being the favorite of the bunch. For dinner, we chose to share the beef medallions and the Korean short ribs. Medallions were cooked beautifully as was the beef ribs, but the sauce was not very Korean and way too salty. Also, for $17, you would expect a slightly thicker cut. You basically get one four-bone piece of kalbi. That is on the outrageous side. Everything else seemed more reasonably priced. Oh, the scallop risotto was also ordered, and it was fantastic.

we had a great little private room to celebrate our daughter's 24 birthday and the service was outstanding. food, however, was mediocre dressed up on cool plates. the duck was great, though. drinks were tiny, over-priced and bad. again, things looked and sounded better than they were.

There were four of us in my group; we elected to split some appetizers and everyone ordered a different entree. The food was ready shortly, the presentation was lovely, and the meals delicious. I've already recommended 901 to some friends as a great location to take a date. I really liked the food - what was prepared, and the way in which it seemed like a familiar idea done with a neat twist to it. I had the spice rub ribs - they were outstanding!

  • High-tech Decor, Fusion Cuisine
    Techsan68VIP
    Dined on 1/4/2013
The thing I noticed first about 901 was the decor -- a fusion of high-tech metal and glass suggesting both Japanese and American futuristic visions. The menu matched the surroundings -- offering American fare such as Bison with Oriental presentation. I found the food well worth the exploration, but the real highlight is the drink selection and the lively crowd at the bar. Also notable are the several partially private tables for groups ranging from 12 to 100, and the two happy hours offered before and after the prime dinnertime. It's worth a visit. You'll either love it or hate it!

The food was delicious and our waiter was extremely friendly - he did a great job of describing every plate for us. I just wish that, given we were there for a special occasion (New Year's Eve / our anniversary), they had seated us with a bit more room between us and other diners; we felt a bit like we were eating on top of other people. But overall, our experience was a great one!

Unfortunately we went there the 27th of December and the restaurant had been closed for 3 days, without heat. This means that it was very very cold inside, since they had opened only a few hours before we arrived. It staid like this, freezing for our entire stay, unfortunately. So don't go just after Xmas!!

First time at 901 while we were visiting D.C. The restaurant was not apparently as busy as usual because of the holidays which made the ambiance even more serene. We had a terrific waiter, Chris, and an interesting and beautifully prepared meal. We were only sorry we didn't have more people so we could try more dishes: tuna tatare, pork sliders, duck on mashed sweet potato and beef tenderloin with all sorts of delicious things going on.

I was very pleasantly surprised at the inventiveness of the menu and the chef's delivery on the promise. My server talked me in to trying the "Venison Two Ways". The meat had so many seasoning flavors which were augmented by the in-house smoking, that I will definitely be back for more to make sure it was as good as I remembered days later. The rest of the menu looks just as impressive.

The food and menu were surprisingly good. However, the wine selection is pretty weak, and they didn't even have a bottle o the one nice wine we attempted to order. Our waiter was quite good., but the bartenders were lacking experience when it came to wine opening. This is a goo spot to go with a group. Not sure that I'd return to thi barren part o town on a date though.

Great preparations of Asian-influenced foods. Presentations encourage sharing (split entrees and appetizers that are divided for sharing), but full entrees and diners are also presented. Our server was knowlegeable about the food, wine, restaurant, etc. The bar is VERY energetic, but the dining area has enough separation to allow for a pleasant and relaxed meal. All-around a very good entry to the DC scene. This was our first visit, we will return!

901 get's a five star rating from me and my guests!! The service was exceptional, the atmosphere was sofisticated, contemperary, stylish, yet very warm and welcoming! The food was excellent, perfectly seasoned, and for those who happen to be looking for healthy options and reasonable portions, 901 hits the mark! The Bar Manager, Dean Feddaoui was phenominal, has certainly has his finger on the pulse of customer service and style, very enthusiastic, and welcoming, even offered me a tour of the restuarant, which I certainly appreciated and I will continue to talk about the wonderful features of 901. Ms. Jennifer Dyson, Assistant General Manger was just wonderul and our waiter, Jay,is a shining example of customer service at it's finest!

I met my girlfriends here for dinner, and we really enjoyed it. The food and service were outstanding! I ordered the Chinese Spiced Duck Breast, my girlfriends ordered the Seared Scallop Risotto, and the Ponzu Stir Fry Noodles. All were delicious, but everyone said they will order the duck the next time. We ordered the Stir Fried Couscous for the table. It's a vegan dish made with Israeli couscous and we all enjoyed it. For appetizers, we ordered the shrimp crisps and crab fritters. You will need at least two appetizers for four people because they are small bites. I didn't order from the bar, but my friends were pleased with their selections. Our server Jayce, was great and made our visit a pleasant experience.
