Love the food. Wish making a reservation for outside was available. Most staff was great. Most of our food was great too- only one of six wasn't a fan of their dish.

Appetizers just okay. Main Entrees were excellent for all four of us. Service not so hot & slow. If you bring a bottle of wine bring it chilled and also bring something to keep it chilled. We were given a bucket half filled with ice to chill a bottle of wine. The bottom became chilled, not the top. Fun summer neighborhood place and great entrees.

Our second visit to 90 Miles and we continue to enjoy the great atmosphere, the friendly service and the delicious food. The place has a very vibrant feel to it and we really like the food. On the menu there are two meals recommended by a TV Diners Show - one pork and one chicken. The show knows what it is talking about as both dishes were delicious.

  • Great expectations unfulfilled....

Having learned of 90 Miles through Check Please, we came into the city from the suburbs with great expectations; however our lunch experience left us unimpressed. While the decor of the restaurant was quirky and fun (and the outdoor and "four seasons" patio were perfect for al fresco dining), the three appetizers we ordered (the Tamale, Calamar, and Tostones Rellenos) were disappointing, lacking flavor and spice. Our server seemed uninterested and detached; finally, the young man who cleared the table (who said he was a "meat eater") recommended the Masas de Puerco, which was full of fat, but tender and flavorful. BYO-$3 corkage fees, $12 charge for pitchers to make sangria. Not what we were anticipating......somewhat disappointing.

Loved the food together with the rustic, colorful and casual ambiance. BYOB saves a good deal of money and comes with the service you need offering glasses, extra ice, an ice bucket and a cork screw. The waiter did forget my avocado side but I didn't remember until I was gone because the food was so good and I had plenty to eat without it. I would recommend this place to anyone.

It was a good friend's birthday, and she had been talking about a trip to the Caribbean. We didn't make our travel plans in time, so I made reservations at 90 Miles. Our group had a fantastic time! The food was perfect, service attentive, and the ambience made us all feel like we were on vacation in our own backyard. My boyfriend & I went on Sunday night around 8pm & didn't have that great of an experience. The food was great but the service was slow & frankily a bit rude. We waited 10 minutes before anyone came to our table. Our appetizer was tossed on our table with no explanation, plates or silverware to eat with. It took another 5 minutes to get that. The empanadas were great but we waited 15 minutes after they were done to order entrees & that's only because we flagged down the manager. Our server was MIA & when our food was taking a while she came back & gave a very insincere apology. My boyfriend lives in the neighborhood & decided he isn't jumping to go back anytime soon & unfortunately I have to agree. Great food, terrible service.

My husband made the comment that the food is just like his mom makes. You should definitely arrive early for parking, most of the surrounding area is tow zone or permit parking only. 90 miles to Cuba is extremely busy on the weekends, and reservations are a must. It's also BYOB, but they will set you up with Sangria or Mojito pitchers. We had a really good experience! They made our graduation celebration special.

    Dined on 5/15/2013
We had Empanadas & Croquetas for appetizer. Both were delicious. We ordered three different kinds of empanadas and they were all good. Dough was very light and flicky. We were impressed with the Oxtail dish. The meat was tender and the sauce was tasty. Except the Lechon was kind of dry. I wish they would cut as chunk instead of shedded meat. Overall, I like that place. I took an out of town friends there and wish they would have a live music. At least, the weather was good and we were able to stay at outdoor.

The place had a great feel and vibe, the aji relleno and empanadas (soy beef) appetizers were excellent. Had the bistec, fish, and vegetarian plates, all were delicious. Service could have been better, and we had to wait over 40 minutes after our reservation time for a table. Given this was mothers day, it could be forgiven. Had the bread pudding for dessert, that was outstanding. Overall, very good food and experience, would definitely come back again.

90 Miles is a great restaurant with a quality menu of cuban cuisine. The empanadas were FANTASTIC! We got 4 different ones and each one was better than the last. There was a menu misunderstanding on my dish and a gentlement came over to me and said directly, "if it's not what you thought, I"ll make you a new one. The customer satisfaction is top priority." This is something that has never been said outright to me. Great price, great food, and BYOB is always a nice addition. Highly recommend.

I just moved to the neighborhood about a month ago, and in that time I have already heard from numerous people that I must try this restaurant. Had a reservation Saturday night (good idea to have the reservation), and all the people raving about this place were right. Sure, it's a little pricey (average $16-$17 for a full entree), but the portions are certainly appropriate, and the food was out of sight! Not to mention it's BYOB, so you're saving a ton on drinks. Service was phenomenal and everything was hot, quick, and delicious. The ambience was amazing as well, beautifully lit, a little quirky in the decor. Looking forward to trying brunch, and many dinners to come!

The food at 90 Miles was very good. The empanadas as a appetizer are must try, you get 3 which are enough for 2 people to split. The dinner plates were also very good. It is byob and if you bring rum as we did I would recommend getting the mojito pitcher which you make your own drinks. The ambience in the place is amazing, the crowd although packed during our dinner was very energetic but not to the point to where we couldn't have a conversation. This is a must try if you like Cuban food, would totally go back again

I thought the food was very good, but there are a couple of sandwich items that have the same name as the dinner plate items. I pointed to the sandwich and said the name, and was actually given the, more expensive, dinner plate, instead of the sandwich. We corrected the waiter and he said if i wanted the dinner he would just charge me for the sandwich. So just be careful in ordering the correct item, and making sure it's correct. I like the BYOB concept, always, but if you're having their sangria it is a bit pricey considering you use your own alcohol.

We had been to this restaurant last year, but this time around was extremely disappointing. The service was bad, the restaurant was unorganized and the food was sub-par. We had other tables taking chairs from our table to seat themselves. They couldn't get our orders right. It was enough to make us not want to go back because there are several Cuban restaurants in Chicago that are just as good.

Being from Canada, we don't have a lot of Cuban food available. 90 Miles was recommended by a friend in Chicago and I have to admit, I was blown away. Its a very rustic, tasty food spot that leaves you remembering how good food can be. There is a plethora of choices, and our waiter was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. If you go to this place, I definitely suggest the Trio of empenada's since it really gives a great sample of the food. Everything I ate was tasty and hot to order. I'll definitely return!

I think the Cuban food in Bucktown is very overrated compared to Cuban food I've had outside of Chicago. 90 Miles is very overpriced, thanks to the Food Network and all the hype it gets, and the food just doesn't justify the price. So dry. Adverse to sauce and moisture.

  • Food for the Soul - Cuban-style!

This was my second recent visit to "90 Miles" on Armitage - both were totally enjoyable. Now a Chicagoan, I'm a former resident of Caracas and a regular visitor to Santiago and Miami, so I am experienced with the variety of Latin food. Cuban food is always "food for the soul" for me - maybe it was the summer I spent in La Habana when I was a child. The food at "90 Miles" is perfectly executed traditional Cuban food. Bring a bottle of Chilean or Argentine wine, a couple of friends and have a great evening!
