This was my third trip to 88 Wharf. The entrees are outstanding. There could've been more pomegranate in my endive salad and the desserts are decent, but not overwhelmingly delicious. Service the first two times was perfect. This time, we had a different server, and although service was ok, she was a bit unfriendly and not very good at refilling glasses.

We were excited to try this new restaurant in town. We had received a gift card and were anxious to use it right away. The atmosphere was OK and the service was good. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. The food, however, was a great disappointment. The vegetables were soggy and our steak, which was one of the specials that night, was very fatty. We could only salvage a few bites from our steaks. We will not be returning to 88 Wharf.

Seriously, you can't beat the bar bites. Best, most delicious deal ever. The shrimp and oysters were fresh and excellent, those truffle chips are amazing. We love this place.

  • We eat at this restaurant
    OpenTable Diner Since 2006

We eat at this restaurant quite often. The food is very, very good. They have a special bar menu between 5:00 and 6:30 p.m. and again after 9:30 p.m. when the oysters, shrimp, sliders and much more are $1.00 a piece and burgers $5.00. The bar is lively. The bartenders and wait staff could not be more accommodating and fun. The views of the Neponset River are lovely. A complimentary valet is available nightly to park your car. This is a great spot as well as a great neighborhood restaurant. I suggest everyone try it.

The plan was dinner for two, but a cancelled sitter required the addition of our 7 yr old. They accommodated our last minute addition as well as moving the reservation up so that we would finish before bedtime! Service was great, attentive, yet not hovering. A few bites of my son's hand cut fries were delicious & flavorful, without any greasiness. He devoured his 88 burger. There is no kid's menu, so options kid's options are limited, but he did see pizza listed. I should have read the menu closer about the lobster mac & cheese appetizer. It was made with potato gnocchi, so I felt as if I was eating mashed potatoes. I don't think I'd order it again, but my both the ceasar & mixed greens salads were excellent. We'll return for sure!

Very pleased to find this new venue on the river in Milton. The menu is ambitious but well executed and well priced. This spot is not far from Quincy, Roslindale, and route 3 (in addition to Milton). Welcome to the neighborhood!

Nice windows in the dining area, cozy booths, the bar area is attractive but overall not that big of a place. We noticed everyone around us ordering pizza and burgers, and they looked quite good. We probably should have done the same. Maybe the locals already know it's been established that this is more of a pizza/burger place. The entrees we tried, Salmon, Scallops, fisherman's stew, all disapointing.

Terrific spot with terrific food. Hopping on a Friday night, our reserved table was seated promptly. Loved everything except, occasionally, the overall noise level. Lots of hard surfaces make it a less than intimate (acoustical) experience on a busy evening. While this will not prevent my return, it will steer me elsewhere for those times I seek a more quiet, subdued atmosphere conducive to table conversation.

  • We came for the lobster pie
    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 11/11/2009
We came for the lobster pie which we saw on the website yet it wasn't available and told the muenu had changed. The chowder was very good as well as the salad but my wife's shrimp was blah. The creme brulee was only surpassed in Paris, excellent. The signature drink I had must have been made with bar liquor as I got a whale of a headache and I only do when cheap alcohol is used. If it wasn't for that the overall experience would have been wonderful. Joe Nuccio

We dined on a Monday night at 88Wharf. We thought that signage for the restaurant could have been a bit better - The restaurant was not crowded on a Monday night, so quiet conversation at the table was possible. Food was attractively served and well prepared. We will definitely return.

I bought a groupon to 88 Wharf Wednesday. We had a reservation and even though we were very late the host was very friendly. We received good service the entire time. We ordered the lobster mac n cheese (very good), veal special (veal was amazing but the vegetables were a bit undercooked) and the butternut squash ravioli (a little bland but on the right track and a little undercooked). Overall for the price I would have expected the dishes to be better, but we will go back and try them again some time.

  • 88 Wharf is a work in progress.....
    OpenTable Diner Since 2009
    Dined on 11/5/2009
88 Wharf is a work in progress......The staff was friendly and eager to be of service. The bar was full and service was timely. The dining room was roomy enough to have a private conversation and not too noisy for a wide open room. The decor was subtle and comfortable. The wait staff was pleasant and engaging yet not intrusive. The menu was diverse. Presentation was professional. The food was adequate and not particularly noteworthy. Not bad mind you just not something that you would particularly remember.......Plenty of room to improve which I hope and expect it will. I will return to see!!!!!

  • If you like oysters, I'd definitely
    OpenTable Diner Since 2007

If you like oysters, I'd definitely recommend getting a half dozen--they're well priced and the condiments (if you use them) were not overpowering, but subtly imbued the oysters with a touch of flavor. Also, they're served on beds of sea salt, which add to the brininess. So good! The interior was tastefully done, though window treatments would help at night with the bright headlights of cars heading to the valet. It's upscale but still casual enough to wear nice jeans. The food was delicious and the menu is varied enough that it was tough to make a decision on the entree--they all sounded very good.

Have been to 88 Wharf several times. Service has been excellent as have the meals. The braised lamb is so tender and piping hot that I cannot resist ordering it every time even though my wife loves the Halibut and the Salmon looks great. This is a great restaurant and a hidden gem of Milton. Great early bird bar bites.

We've been excited to give this place a try since we live nearby and it just wasn't as good as we had hoped it would be. My husband and I both had salads; they were fine, nothing exciting, just fine. My husband had the rib eye special and really enjoyed it, while I had a new lobster gnocchi special they are trying out that was very rich and just too much as an isolated meal. Would make an awesome side dish...it was so rich you could only eat a little bit! Dessert was underwhelming, the coffee was average. Our server, Nate, was excellent and helped make the evening enjoyable. We will go back to try a casual burger dinner with the kids, but not for fine dining.

Had an 8:30 reservation for 2 on a Sat night but didn't get seated until after 9:30. Then it was another10 minutes before anyone came to offer us water or get us a drink. Appetizers arrived at 10 (mind you this is for an 8:30 resrvation so by then we wre famished). My salad was good (but how could ryou really mess it up since I asked for dressing on the side) but my husband had the crabcake and said it was awful - like deep fried sawdust. Our entries were also a split review - I had the plain pizza and it was delightful; at the suggestion of thw waiter he had the beef stroganoff. He said it was remniscent of catfood - he got the feeling they didn't even prepare the beef there but used canned meat . Wouldn't recommend based on our experienc

Overall, very good. Our halibut entrees were a cut above. Our calamari appetizer, however, was fairly ordinary. Pretty noisy, but that allowed us to have private ocnversation at our table wihtout others listening in. I recommend the restaurant and we will be back.

This place just gets better and better. We sat at a table in the bar area and ordered the "bar bites." They were huge and filling, for hardly any $$. Everything was delicious. Wow...and in Milton! This is our new favorite place.
