  • "Make sure you show up when the breeze is blowing the right direction if you have any plans to sit on the patio. We were told that the patio was closed, yet the tables were set but I was told it was 'too breezy' to sit outside on a gorgeous HH evening. Points lost immediately. The food was good but surprisingly overpriced. Yuri Gow is a great chef, but not $40 / plate good. Waiters are rather condescending and pushy. I would go back if it was a special occassion."

  • "We finally tried 843 after many raves and prepared to be disappointed as is usually the case!! Not so with 843!! It is a small intimate space, with an outdoor garden space for warmer nights. The service was tops and the food and wines outstanding. We were really impressed with their 2 hamburger dishes, unusual in an upscale restaurant. Both were declared the best ever tasted! Also recommend the ancient grain salad and roasted beet salad and definitely the crime brulet! We give it a true 5 star rating in all categories."

  • "Lunch in this restaurant is a delight with excellent food, service and very pleasant surroundings. However, it was so dark at dinner that it was impossible for us to read our menus or see the food without the use of flashlights (the restaurant provided one and 2 in our party of 4 had a mini light). How disappointing! A pianist provided soft music in the background which was enjoyed by all and although the service was a little disorganized at first, it improved throughout the evening. The food was outstanding!"

  • "We and our friends are HH residents. After the meal we agreed that this may be the most over rated restaurant on the island. The scallop dinner comprised of two very small scallops, an "heirloom" carrot, and one scallion. The hamburger was overlooked, dry, and tasted like saw dust. The French fries were inconsistent. On one plate they were very good, while on the other they were greasy. The pork hop was excellent. The waiter was almost cavalier. Long waits between coming to the table and he refused to talk to the guitarist who was playing extremely loudly, such that you could not here yourself think. The prices are at least 20 percent higher than an equivalent restaurant. Stay away from this restaurant. We are telling all of friends"

  • "Food was fantastic. We booked early as we took our 11 year old. The service was just overbearing and disruptive. The waitress nearly poured our whole bottle of wine into our glasses in one go. We were constantly asked by at least 2 staff members how was everything. We will go back at a later time and hopefully with more tables to serve we can enjoy the food and each other's company."

  • "I can only say about my food.I ordered ,a petite plate of scallops for dinner.I received 2 scallops and some carrots not sure what else. Certainly not enough for dinner.I was eating other peoples dinner! Another restaurant we frequent I order the petite dinner and I get at least 4 large diver scallops with sauce and veggies.Much larger portion. we have been there for lunch ,eating outside and the food was great and outside was delightful No one else complained it was the dinner I ordered.Will not have that again. That being said I will definetly go back ! love chocolate"

  • "I took my wife here for her birthday. Lovely french caribbean decor, excellent service and a delicious meal. We started with a cocktail at the bar and were seated promptly. Both our dishes were excellent, especially the scallops. Our waitress was knowledgeable of the menu and gave us exceptional service. We simply had a wonderful evening."

  • "Dined here with large group after receiving several recommendations to choose this restaurant. Service was excellent, the place is attractive, and the evening specials were apparently very good. However, for those if us who ordered off the regular menu the food was ok but not memorable. For example a $22 scallop entree (everything is a la carte) was two medium sized scallops and "crispy trout" was basically a fried fish cake. I can't say it was bad because it was not, but the difference is that over the weekend no one in the group recounted the wonderful meal at 843; instead they talked about he great foodstuff Sea Grass Cafe the next night."

  • "I ordered the large dinner portion of sea scallops. I thought there was an error when the plate was served. There were 4 medium sized scallops on a large plate spread around the center with perhaps 2 tablespoons of a vegetables in a corner of the plate. The price was $35! The grilled scallops were also over cooked."

  • "Little difficult to locate the unsigned space at the end of the Whole Foods anchored strip mall, but worth the trip. The food was creative and tasty and the service attentive and knowledgeable. Cuisine challenging but excellent. Lobster flan app superb. Grouper entre excellent. Surprised to find fine dining experience in this setting. Ambience was a cozy library feel. Comfortable but cozy. Price value and wine list was good. We will be back."

  • "Really enjoyed this little place. Ambience is very nice and they try to give you privacy even tho the tables are close. Food was wonderful. But our waitress was not very knowledgeable about the menu items. Told us about some of the desserts that were nothing like she had described. Also, was not sure of the specials. She had been there for 4 months, so it was not like she was new. She was attentive, but not good with her timeliness,especially since it was Valentines day. Felt like we could not enjoy a drink and then have conversation, had to order right away. Other than the server, the manager was great and the food was superb! Have to say the cosmos were a little weak. I think they forgot the alcohol!"

  • "We had often passed this restaurant but never stopped because it didn't have a sign in front. One day we finally stopped and made a reservation. The restaurant became one of our favorites from the time we walked through the door - it was cozy, very well decorated, with a very friendly, professional staff, and with a food selection that offered excellent choices. The presentation of the food was superb and the food itself was excellent in taste and quality. While you pay somewhat higher prices here you are rewarded by the total experience."

  • "Tucked away at the end of a strip mall, this small, intimate restaurant is our favorite type of place. Eclectic decor but with an overall feeling which made us feel comfortable immediately...we are tablecloth folks. It was a quiet night when we visited (a rainy Monday evening) but we loved the live piano music (not too loud), the service (everyone was involved--if your server was busy, someone else delivered your meal) and, of course, the food was unique and very well prepared. There is a lovely outdoor dining space but we were here in the "off-season" so cannot comment on that aspect. We will definitely return to 843."

The music is low and lovely, you are greeted at the door, the ambience is cozy and romantic; the wait staff is personable and knowledgeable without being obtrusive; the food is high quality, beautifully presented and delicious; the menu is organized by growers, runners and swimmers...how clever. I am often disappointed at restaurants in our area, but 843 Restaurant was a sophisticated, charming, satisfying evening. I love it for lunch and dinner! I look forward to dining on their patio in warmer weather."

The descriptions and realities match perfectly; the preparation and presentation are exact and you have a wide array of choices - enough to please the most selective. The service is friendly and attentive, but not always polished. Get over it. You have an excellent spot to enjoy an exceptionally tasty meal."

  • "I have to admit I had heard mixed reviews prior to dining here and I am so glad I decided to go and make my own decision. The staff was terrific, knowledgeable about the food on the menu and the daily specials and the wine list! The food was top-notch delicious. I think my next visit will be lunch to try the bleu burger, which had me salivating while reading the menu description. Many, Many Thanks to the front of the house staff for making me and my dining companion feel not only welcome but cherished and thanks to the chef and kitchen staff for sending out absolutely delicious food!"

  • "My friends and I met at 843 in mid-December for dinner and our holiday gift exchange. We were given options for seating which allowed us to spread out a bit. The staff is fantastic and our server was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the menu. The place was beautifully decorated and the food was wonderful, as were the holiday drinks. We plan on coming back for an early New Year's Eve toast!"

  • "Before 843 renovated I had been to the restaurant there before which was an Italian/pizza place. The changes are beautifully done. i could hardly believe it was the same space. So soft and inviting. The wine was delicious and the food fantastic. Wait staff very attentive but allowing you to talk and take your time. He explained all the specialls and the prices. I enjoyed every bite and every sip. I plan on making a reservation for my Girls Night Out group."
