8407 kitchen barThe food was good but tooThe food was good but too pricey for what you get. The food came out fast which was a surprise. The wine we had was delicious and the service was outstanding.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time for brunchI went to 8407 on the recommendation of a co-worker. Its a little quirky finding it because of construction, but once you do the trip is worth it. Our server was great and the food was excellent. It was Mother's Day brunch so it was busy, the only negative I would mention is that we weren't greated upon arrival, which in the grand scheme of things is not that big of a deal.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Mother's Day brunchThe shrimp & grits is amazing! Everyone's food was great, the restaurant is beautiful with great natural light in most of the areas. The only reason I didn't give 5/5 stars for Service was because it was a little slow to get our first plate, but that is probably because the restuarant opened earlier than usual for Mother's Day. We were tied over by some great beignets anyway. We still left very satisfied and enjoyed our experience. Will definitely be back :)5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Restaurant?!This restaurant is a Foodies Dream come to life. The flavors just blend so harmoniously and my group was full of picky eaters or they only eat what they know. And they loved every single aspect of their meal. We put this restaurant in our top three in places to go out to dinner.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day TraditionMy mother, sister and I now love to retrun here each year for brunch. It is sensational, with a great $28 fixee menu. My family goes at other times too, but Mother's Day is a great value and the food options are delicious. The best are the beignets.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMthe perfect treatA friend of mine and took a third friend to 8407 to comfort her about a problem she was having, to give her a nice treat, to get away from the usual lunch thing, and to have a quiet space to give her a pep talk and help her get ready for a tough experience to come. Every one of those purposes was met. She felt attended to by us and by our server, the food was a VERY nice treat, we felt like we were on vacation for an hour--someplace far away!--and it was quiet enough to have a really good heart to heart to heart talk with each other. Every bit of the food was delectable--beautiful to look at, and scrumptious to eat, and just the right amounts. We had just enough room for creme brulee--crisp on top, creamy beneath--divine!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of my fav spots.I'm a fan of the truffle fries, and the peanut butter tart.
The grilled octopus legs are lacking in flavor , the sauces which come with the
Legs don't add much.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of a kindHave been twice and had great meals both times. Fun, interesting drinks and a very innovative menu. The sweetbreads and grilled octopus are outstanding appetizers. The lamb and gnocci were both terrific as well. Kevin at the front bar is amazing...took care of everyone at the front bar and still wowed us with one of a kind drinks. A++. Will definitely be back again and again!5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMMust go8407 Kitchen bar is a must go experience. The food will satisfy yiur senses and overwhelm your palate with great taste.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMQuality amid the ruinsHidden behind the disaster that is the Silver Spring Transit Center project (will it ever open?), this restaurant is a hidden find. With an eclectic menu and an emphasis on using quality products I have never gone wrong when I go here. This time I had the seared scallops which were fresh, plump, and juicy presented with perfectly prepared baby root vegetables and mashed potatoes. My companion had the strip steak and after a shared bite, I realized that it, too, was right on the money! The wine list is well thought out and the bar staff is known for taking a creative twist to standards. They also are not afraid to take the adventurous step of creating their own new mixes; these have been on target, too.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMNice addition to Silver SpringGreat ambiance and a nice addition to the Silver Spring area. A place where young adults and the young at heart can come without seeing families and small children. It is romantic and a good late night place for hanging out.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our second trip toThis was our second trip to 8407 and we were again very pleased. The food was amazing and the service top notch.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is the only restaurantThis is the only restaurant I consider myself a "regular" at. You can always count on a wonderful dining experience here -- friendly, well-trained servers, delicious food (that changes with the seasons) in a sophisticated but comfortable setting. Always take out-of-towners here - never heard a disappointing word.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMEvery time we have gone toEvery time we have gone to 8407 we have been thoroughly impressed with the menu and with the outstanding service. We would--and have--recommended the restaurant to friends and family.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMA little pricey, but the foodA little pricey, but the food and drinks are worth it. I keep kitchen bar in mind for special occassions. I've had fish there at brunch both times I've visited, and have not been disappointed.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMYummy Food!We really enjoyed this restaurant. Started with calamari and octopus. Would recommend calamari but octopus was very small portion. Dinners were tilefish (wonderful!), scallops (3 of them so if you are hungry don't order) and duck. All were very good. We each had 1-2 drinks...only negative is it is a bit pricey for portions. $60 per person before tax/tip and we split 2 appetizers b/w three people. Would definitely go back.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent service. Very goodExcellent service. Very good food and an innovative menu. Met a friend for dinner and we both ate light so I can't really do the restaurant justice in this review. It's definitely on my list for a return trip.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAlmost perfectMy wife and I are semi-regular at 8407 and try to go at least once a month. The drinks are always on point and the food is almost always amazing. For appetizers, we shared a plate of the Octopus, which was prepared perfectly. My wife got the ramp tagliatelle and it was delicious. I felt the waiter was pushing the gnocchi with lobster a little hard but decided to take him up on the recommendation. The dish came with a little too much broth, which made the gnocchi particularly mushy (even for gnocchi). The lobster bits were also quite sparse.
I don't hold it against the restaurant - even Ted Williams didn't bat 1.000 - and I look forward to coming back.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAll of the small plates weAll of the small plates we shared were great--the burrata with pea shoots, the fried calamari in a buttermilk batter, the veal sweetbreads. The bread basket offered some interesting choices and was very good, as were the drinks.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food but some small portionsThe food was excellent but the portions of the entrees were very uneven. The scallop entree was very small. Dinner was marred by a frequently screeching young child.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe tagliatelle with asparagusThe tagliatelle with asparagus was a bit lacking in flavor but the burrata was scrumptious and so was the duck leg.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGood for BrunchNot our first time there. First time for brunch - good times.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AM8407 Kitchen Bar is always8407 Kitchen Bar is always a good choice. It's easily one of the best restaurants in the DC metro area. The menu is great and our food, scallops for me and smoked trout for her were top notch. Our experience was guided by Richard, a waiter so skilled, attentive, and knowledgeable, the management wisely had business cards made for him. Pro tip: ask the hostess to be seated in his section, as he is a wonderful guide for the culinary adventure that is 8407 kitchen bar.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMReview by a RestaurateurI had almost given up on finding a great restaurant in Silver Spring which seems to suffer from mediocrity but from the moment I walked in I was more than impressed. The downstairs bar and lounge area was very energetic and filled with people. The "Afterthought" cocktail provided very nice complexity and is what mixology is all about and one of the best crafted cocktails I have had in the DC area. I was pleasantly surprised to find out the staff was responsible for creating the cocktail menu. The upstairs dining area was spacious and wonderfully quaint yet absolutely elegant. Following Bec's (spelling?) suggestions we tried the duck fat fries, the gnocchi and the grouper and added on the deviled eggs. I am incredibly impressed.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe marveled at how quicklyWe marveled at how quickly each course came out, at the beatiful presentation and ofcourse the quality and taste. Such a rustic yet elegant environment. Experienced bar tenders and wait staff. We have been looking for a place like this for a long time.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMSO this is my second timeSO this is my second time to this restaurant. The first time my husband and I came here was on Valentine's Day. The food and service were excellent, and the atmosphere was perfect for a romantic night out. After dinner we got a drink at the bar and the bartender was fantastic, creating drinks specifically for us :) We decided to go back and try brunch on Easter Sunday. The food was nothing short of amazing! It was a busier day so the service was a little bit slower and less attentive than our first time there, but the servers were very friendly nonetheless. It was also absolutely freezing :( It was a chilly day out and there was legitimately a breeze coming through the upstairs dining area. Still we love this place and will be coming back!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWe go pretty frequently toWe go pretty frequently to 8407 and it never fails to please. There were four of us, and we all really thought our dinners were great. We are so glad to have such a nice restaurant in Silver Spring.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst-time Visit a HitOur family enjoyed Easter brunch here. Our first time at the restaurant, and we were very pleasantly surprised. There were a number of different and delicious brunch items, delicious desserts, and an extensive wine list. Service was attentive and gracious without being overly chummy. Prices were very reasonable for this high a quality of food. We'll be back.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMTerrific restaurant; greatTerrific restaurant; great food, great cocktails, great service. I can't believe it's been there for 3 years! Completely deserving of its recent aclaim and notoriety.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMDissapointing small portionDissapointing small portion sizes. I ordered the scallop entree - 3 pieces!!!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my second visit,This was my second visit, and even better than the first. Started with an lovely Petit Syrah and duck fries, which were both quite good. The gnocci with lobster and bacon was amazingly light, with a velvety texture--perhaps the best I've ever had. My dining companion had the lamb, which was also excellent. For dessert, we had the panna cotta (creamy, good) and the chocolate tart with peanut butter ice cream (rich, decadent, definitely the star of the desserts). The noise level was much lower and better than the previous dining experience--likely because it was much less crowded.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is my second time atThis is my second time at the restaurant and the food has been fabulous both times. Ditto the service.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGoing Back Just for the Duck FriesThe service was excellent throughout the night. We started with a bottle of Russian River Pinot Noir and sweetbreads. The wine was very nice, but the sweetbreads were just okay. The bread appeared to be pretty fresh with a nice crust. We ordered the New York Strip and the lamb shoulder. The lamb shoulder was under-cooked, under-spiced, and overwhelmed with it's horseradish crust, which we tried to scrape off in a vain attempt to make the entree a little more edible. The New York strip also lacked flavor and char. I think the mashed potatoes were instant. Yes, the duck fries are the bomb, but we weren't given appetizer plates, so we had to make due with bread plates.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGood but PriceyThe only negative was the price point; business dinner for three (3) with wine by the glass was a little steep.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWent for brunch and was reallyWent for brunch and was really pleased with our meal. Service and ambiance is always really nice here, without being fussy. I had the smoked salmon with potato pancakes which was delicious. Served with mixed greens so it felt on the healthier side. Boyfriend had the pancakes that were rich and tasty. Very filling. Loved the beignets that were served to start off the meal (dessert first!). We will be back!3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThoroughly excellent foodWe had a very enjoyable meal at 8407 Kitchen Bar. For cocktails and appetizers htough the entree, everything was delicious! Four of us were dining, and usually at least one item is a bit diasappointing. Not at 8407! Every part of every plate was fantastic, and we're a very experienced group of diners. The restuarant is comfortable and attractive, and the service was excellent. This will be my new go-to high end restaurant.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBest of Silver SpringGreat restaurant. The food is always delicious and the service is friendly and attentive. Add in that they have a great wine list and a very cool decor/building. This place is top notch. I had the lamb (and it was delicious) and my wife had the scallops (which she said were about the best she has ever had). It's seems like a wierd location (a little off the main drag in SS) but so worth the trip.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb Valentine's Day dinner.Superb Valentine's Day dinner. Great food and drinks and wonderful service.2/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, great food, wine,As always, great food, wine, and service. This was our third trip to 8407 and it continues to impress.12/31/2012 12:00:00 AMBest of Silver Spring8407 is one of my favorite restaurants and worth seeking in Silver Spring. They have a great wine list, the service is very friendly and attentive, and the food is outstanding. We have been several times, always ordered something different, and have yet to have a bad meal.11/30/2012 12:00:00 AMGo on MondaysMonday's half-off wine bottles is an excellent value and an opportunity to try some new wines without breaking the bank.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
