Apparently a change in the kitchen as dishes we had enjoyed in prior visits were poorly cooked. Specifically, the duck entree was very badly undercooked.

We were celebrating a family event and were excited to end our time together over great food, drinks and fellowship. We were not disappointed. We were seated upon arrival, with a prime spot by the upper floor window. The hostess was cheerful, our waiter Philip was just the right amount of chatty, and made us feel as though we were the only patrons. We started off with drinks and conversation. The Sage Advice provided us a mood swing to break the ice of an evening to remember. The menu selections are not overwhelming and provide ample descriptives. But, should the need for further explanation. The entire staff are readily available to provide insight. Everything on the menu will wow your taste buds. Bottomline: I would go again and again and again.

The food is good, but the service could use some refining. The servers and manager were sassy and didn't make us feel very comfortable while we were eating. One server tried to take our appetizer plate away while we were still eating off of it. The manager called us "stubborn" when we said no to dessert. In total, we had four different people wait on us during our dinner. All of our food was good, but the value really depends on what you order. My fiancee got a large portion of gnocchi for the $18 price. For $30, I expected to get more than just three scallops with my entree. Food is good, but stick with pasta and meat. Pass on the dessert.

I have been to 8407 Kitchen Bar several times for lunch and dinner. This was my first time for brunch. The French toast tasted good, but each slice had a large portion that was soggy and unappealing, as if it were left in the batter too long or not cooked long enough. I will not order it again unless the preparation is tweaked.

We came for brunch and ordered Benedicts. While the food was delicious, a half of a piece of thinly sliced canadian bacon on each muffin????? Have the prices for canadian bacon gone up? The brunch potatoes were well seasoned. My husband really really enjoyed the crab benedict.

I've patronized 8407 Kitchen Bar for quite a few years, and it has been my "go-to" for impressing clients. I have noticed in my last two visits that it may be on the decline. The menu hasn't really changed and is getting stale. While normally the drinks are outstanding and plentiful, on my last visit I was disappointed because the waiter (a rookie) did not explore with me the different possibilities of my drink order...he just took my order andcame back with a short, generic drink without the usual wow factor. The actual food is still great, but something is missing. Yesterday, I read in Washingtonian that the chef left last summer...is this what I'm sensing?

I hosted a meetup group brunch event, and the food was pretty good, except for the overcooked poached egg the one person got. The omelets were amazing and the french toast was also very good. The service was slow, and the waiter took a long time to ask for our drink order, so many people decided not to get one because of the long wait. Overall a good food and a great amtomosphere.

I like kitchen bar but don't understand why their prices are so high. My salmon was $28 which seems higher than reasonable. Food was good so no complaints about quality, portions were generous. Coffee was OK, nothing special. Service was a bit slow. One person in our party ordered dessert (bread pudding that we shared) which was so hot it burned mouths but it was tasty. Ever after it had been at the table several minutes it was still burning hot. Do they microwave it?

This was probably our sixth or seventh visit to 8407 kitchen bar over two years or so. It has been a "go to" place for us to bring friends and family, as well as an occasional family dinner in Silver Spring. It felt a little stale on this past visit. The food is fine and it is a nice place to eat and have a conversation, but the service was lackluster and frankly, for an area that has lots of new, interesting restaurants popping up all the time, 8407 felt like it was just going through the motions with this visit. We would probably recommend it to someone who has never been before, but it won't be an enthusiastic recommendation.

This is one of my go-to places for lunch in Silver Spring when meeting colleagues or clients. Terrific menu, well-executed and now with their $8.47 specials, an even better deal. I have to remember to ask for "no fries" with my sandwiches because if they come, I will eat every last one. They are always so well prepared: crisp and fabulous. I had the turkey wrap and a soup. Soup was terrific and I took home half the wrap for lunch the next day. I've never been disappointed.

Living and working in downtown Silver Spring, I am, of course, familiar with 8407, but had never been there for lunch. Seeking a spot for a business meeting on a Monday afternoon, I decided to try 8407, which was an amazing delight. The lunch menu has a big selection, including a list of impressive items for $8.47. My colleague had a gorgeous chicken salad wrap surrounded by crispy fries and I felt like I was stealing something by having two scrumptious and perfectly prepared Mahi Mahi tacos for $8.47. This is less than a decent salad at Whole Foods or nearby organic salad spots, I might add. We lingered undisturbed for more than 2 hours, enjoying the calm, quiet, and lovely meal. I'll be back!

I love eating in this restaurant because the ambience is so inviting. And our waiter promised us an excellent evening which we thoroughly expected to have. But our experience proved to be contrary. Trying to enjoy our conversation the servers twice rudely tried to dump the entree on us while we had barely progressed with the appetizer. Then when we were ready for it, half of the duck tasted like mush and was barely edible. The other half was wonderfully rare and flavorful. As was all of the other food. But the evening which was a special celebration had been dampened by the service and the duck. Too bad. This should all be an excellent dining experience.

Sauces are revealing, & 8407 did not disappoint. We shared steamed mussels, which were large, fresh & done exactly right with abundant garlic & tasty toast. I had duck comfit - a guilty pleasure perfectly done - from the savory sauce to the crispy flavorful skin. My wife had sea scallops that were fresh and subtle. The Pinot Grigio was outstanding & a good match. The 8407 managers clearly love good food and help others enjoy it with outstanding service in a relaxing setting. You can tell when people are having fun at their job, and whoever runs this place is having a good time. Their joy is apparent and infectious. Perhaps such a fantastic place it is relatively affordable is because it is located by the idle Transit Center.

We had the strip steak and the trout. The food was presented nicely. The steak was a little on the rare side - requested medium rare- but okay. The trout was over cooked and dry. The bread pudding however was fantastic. The service was on the slow side. I had to asked waterboys several times to send my waiter to bring me the check and once signed I had to actually get up and start to leave to pay at the cash register downstairs before my waiter noticed me.

8407 has always been a favorite, but the service is not as good as it used to be. Our server was very friendly, but seemed to be a little lost as a waiter. He had a tendency to work on 1 table at a time which meant that there were large time blocks where I couldn't even get his attention. I had to ask for bread and water from a bus person. 1 of the 2 of them was friendly, the other not so much. The food was good and the wine that we ordered was delicious. It was a disappointing visit to what is usually one of the best restaurants in silver spring. Hopefully it was an off night.
