First, a complete bar that doesn't stock Beefeater or Tanqueray gin is odd. Second, our dinners were good for the most part. One party had a special: Cornish game hen served with potatoes and string beans. This was an ample plate, and my guest was happy and sated. The other two of us ordered seared scallops for $32 each. What arrived were four, slightly overcooked scallops the size of fifty-cent pieces, served on top of perhaps a cup of roasted vegetables. The flavor was excellent, but the serving was truly skimpy-looking for the price. Sated, we were not. 82 Queen made a sizable profit on this dish.

We heard great recommendations from several. Food was very bland and not up to expectations, nor as good tasting as a lower "rated" restrauant just a block away on Queen Street where we also ate. Ambiance was very nice, but I want good tasting food. Charleston is not a wasteland for good food, which makes this all the more disappointing.

We had Sunday Brunch; great food, great service, great atmosphere-the seating outside was very 'Charleston'; lots of fern and wrought iron under the canopy of trees. The best She Crab soup. Will definitely go back on our next visit.

Overall a very Un satisfying experience. As first timers here, we were sat in a section I could only refer to as Siberia. Our waiter, although pleasant, would not stop talking. The food was overlooked or under seasoned, no salt or pepper was on the tables. I can only assume that the cook thought we would like bland food.Enough said.

My boyfriend and I went to the famous 82 Queen in celebration of a new job. We requested to sit outside and it was gorgeous, very quiet and intimate. We started with drinks and I would recommend the blood orange Cosmo, delicious. The She-Crab soup was everything everyone said it was warm and tasty for a chilly fall evening. The only downfall would be that when our food came out it was cold. I orders the crabcake and mash potatoes. The potatoes were extremely cold but I ate them anyway. My boyfriend ordered the jambalaya and collard greens. While it was tasty that too was cold, not even room temperature. The flavors were good, it just tasted like it had been sitting out for awhile. Hopefully if we choose to go back it will be warmer.

My husband tries crab cakes at most sea board cities and thinks these were amongst the best. He was in heaven. I had the Gumbo and it too was awesome- a very large portion that defeated me (a full crispy chicken leg sits in the middle of an amazing gumbo full of shrimp +)

We were seated outside on a perfect October evening. Out waitstaff was great but there was one waiter that kept making remarks to the other waitstaff. It was annoying. That was the last annoying thing though. They are known for their She Crab soup and they deserve all the accolades! It was out of this world. Our entrees were fabulous! The shellfish fettuccine was delicious and not so huge that you left miserable. All in all a great evening!

I took my wife out for her birthday. We both enjoyed the meal really well. We shared a large bowl of She Crab soup (Excellent the best I've ever had). Fried Green Tomatoes (Really good). I had the Barbeque Shrimp & Grits and My wife the Fettuccine Di Mare. MY wife thought the Fettuccine was a little dry (she wanted more sauce) but good and I thought the Shrimp was REALLY fresh and prepare just right. Getting the Entree to us was a little slow but they kept the fresh (really good) warm bread coming. We enjoyed a Firefly Fruit Cocktail ( we like sweet) again.. really good.

82 Queen is one of the prettiest restaurants in Charleston, with the courtyard outside (divided into several areas, which gives it a less crowded feel) and several rooms inside the restored old home inside. Great for groups or a romantic couple evening. So pretty at lunch. Do not miss the She Crab soup. I had the Roasted Beet Salad this time, which was fabulous. My husband says they make the best Shrimp & Grits in town (and he's tried them all!) There's a good-sized bar area, too, in it's own little building. A parking garage directly across the street - what's not to like?

This restaurant was once tops on my list of places to dine in Charleston. The fried green tomatoes were legendary and beef and fish entrees never disappointed. Well, the Queen has slipped! The tomatoes couldn't be saved whether fried or in the beet salad. Mushy, bland and anemic are the adjectives that come to mind. My beet salad had two beets and a dozen slices of those horrible tomatoes. In fact, the food in general was bland. The only decent dish was the bbq shrimp and cheesy grits. It's one of the old standbys. Go back to what worked or I won't be back.

My friends and I had heard great reports about 82 Queen and were not disappointed! The ambiance was great. We dined in the lovely courtyard patio. My only complaint was that there was no fan near us and it was quite warm. We tried the She Crab Soup which was so rich it would have been hard to eat more than the cup. We enjoyed the fried green tomatoes and the Southern Pickins' appetizer. The beet salad was nothing special. My friends both enjoyed the barbecued shrimp and grits. My eyes were bigger than my stomach and by the time my entree arrived, I could only take a bite or two of my crab cakes. They were good, but they were even better for dinner the next night when I hadn't stuffed myself before eating them.

This was our second visit to 82 Queen. Our first visit was very good and we had fond memories. We ate outside which was very nice. The fried green tomatoes were very good. My husband's pork chop was excellent. I had the scallops. I am sorry to say that they were the most flavorless scallops I have ever had. They were served with brussel sprouts, baby pearl onions and boiled peanuts. Perhaps it was a poor choice. For dessert, my husband had the banana pudding which was quite good. I had the apple cobbler which wasn't that great. Our review is therefore mixed unfortunately.

Genteel setting in a quiet room - 82 Queen's "library" - allows for quiet conversations while you wait for your dinner. The crab soup and crab cakes were very good. Our dinner was a little slow in coming out of the kitchen, for which our server apologized on behalf of the chef, but we we're not disappointed with the food, nor did the wait bother us. Just remember your context, Southerners enjoy life and are not in a hurry; sit back, relax, and order another bottle of wine.
