Diner Reviews
  • "Celebrated our 25 Year Anniversary. Sat outside under the Big Tree, Our Waiter think his name was Weldone was informative, and very attentive and honest! the food was superb - I usually never order Jambalaya outside of New Orleans without being disappointed but this was the exception!!! Highly recommend 82 Queen"

  • "Beautiful place, great waiter and very knowledgeable. Porkchop was slightly overdone and I would return for a special event or just drop in for a drink at the bar. Well maintained restaurant for it's age. I wouldn't think twice about bringing family, friends or business colleagues."

  • "My husband and I came here for our anniversary. The food and atmosphere was great and the waiter was very knowledgeable on the food with great recommendations."

  • "I brought my 17 yr old daughter and her friend here for dinner. I wanted them to experience some of the special Charleston things that I had experienced growing up and living here. Fine dining in Charleston is a given. I've always loved 82 Queen so I brought them here instead of anywhere else. My daughter asked about High Cotton but really, isn't that just a tourist attraction? Y'all totally delivered! Our food and service were impeccable. I already recommend you to my friends here in DC who are vacationing in SC. Our current experience will just add to that."

  • "Authentic Southern staples sourced locally: shrimp and grits, she-crab soup and fried green tomatoes were excellent. Do not skip the limoncello mascarpone cake with blueberries"

  • "Outdoor courtyard had great atmosphere. Service was top notch. Food was amazing. Best shrimp and grits ever. Husband had jumbalia. Said it was best he had ever had."

  • "Took my beautiful wife here for our last night in the city. Made reservations for the patio under an enormous magnolia tree and multiple gazebos and arbors. The ambiance was amazing and the service was great. We stayed through dusk, but you could tell it was romantically lit with bistro lights and candles for a great late-night spot as well. Definitely worth a planned dinner with the one you love."

  • "82 Queen's tiara shines brightly. From a warm welcome to an accommodating staff, great service and a real locavore's delight, a menu that intrigues and delights, 82 Queen truly delivers"

  • "We went on a very warm night and had to sit outside because all of the inside tables were taken. We had walked over and were not too eager to sit outside but it turned out to be very comfortable with fans all over. This was not our first visit and the food was as good as in previous visits although my husband was not thrilled with the sides that were offered. However they were willing to substitute so everyone was happy!"

  • "This restaurant has declined in the past few years. Witnessed people without reservations being seated prior to those with reservations. Had to wait for a table even with a reservation. Hostess didn't have any charm and appeared miserable. Food was not hot and average. Not the quality of the past. Would not recommend and will not return."

  • "Wonderful place to take people for a fabulous low country menu. The food was perfectly prepared and delicious. This is my favorite restaurant to take out of town guests."

  • "Amazing. Love the atmosphere food and service. Great outdoor seating and bar area is good for the wait if needed. Great for couple dining and kid friendly as well. One of Charlestons best restaurants"

  • "I dislike giving a review that is conflicted. There were positives but the main negative was the food, which is the biggest reason one dines out. 82 Queen was very charming and the service was spot on. The food sounded promising in it's simplicity but was not seasoned thoroughly throughout all courses."

  • "Our server was very knowledgable about the menu and gave great recommendations. My husband ordered the scallops, which is far from his usual, and loved them. I had the crab cakes which where perfectly full of crab and very little filler. Great outdoor patio!"

  • "Ate Saturday brunch at 82 Queen and loved it. My mother and I sat outdoors and enjoyed the courtyard will we dined. The food was amazing and the sever was great. I'll definitely be back!"

  • "The outdoor patio is very pretty and perfect for a romantic night. The service was great even though they wee very busy. The food however was just ok. The bistro steak was fatty and for $33 I would not have expected. The shrimp and grits were ok. The sweet BBQ sauce on shrimp didn't go well with savory grits. I would go back for he ambience but would try different menu selections."

  • "I was seeing good reviews and sounded like my kind of place. My table location was not the best , i had reservations, and service was OK. My real issue was my dish, seared salmon was bland. It was cooked right but had no flavor. The spinach was good, even though it had peanuts instead of almonds like menu said. The everything goat cheese was good as well and paired well with the spinach. My wife's truffle cauliflower steak was really good. The dish doesn't actually have steak in it, so they should consider rewording menu."

  • "Sitting on the patio is a must, you feel like you are at a garden party with great food. The landscaping gives a sense of privacy. Went for brunch, BF had the "ultimate bloody mary" which he said was one of the best hes had. He ordered bbq shrimp and grits, I ordered the breakfast wrap. He said his food was amazing. Mine had good flavor just a bad concept.. the wrap had eggs, bacon, andouille sausage and fried green tomatoes. The tomatoes were soggy from being in the wrap and the combo of fried, sausage, bacon made it heavy/greasy.. hangover cure for sure. I dumped everything out of the wrap and picked thru it, too heavy/greasy for me. The cheese grits were amazing.. and I dont even care for grits. They are a must order (and the crab cake!)"

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed a beautiful summer evening meal outside at this lovely traditional Charleston setting."

  • "I would like to say better things, but cannot. We had reservations: arrived on time at 9:00pm and were seated in a backroom with 4 tables that also contained the server station. We asked the hostess if we could have a more desirable table next to a window or outside in the courtyard, but she said no - even though there were many open tables available. Our experience in that room had all of the charm of a Cracker Barrel. Our server was not interested in telling us anything about the specials or the menu. The food was good, but not outstanding. Overall a very disappointing experience and would not recommend. Rude hostess + bored server + dud room + ok food does not make for a great evening out."

  • "Our annual trip to Charleston hasn't included 82 Queen in quite a while. Well, it will from now on. Great food and service all while dining in shaded comfort. Terrific place for a date. They even have a kids menu so if the young ones are with you, no problem."

  • "Our evening was wonderful. Taylor took very good car of us. The She crab soup was excellent. I had the shrimp and grits and my husband had the duck. True low country food made our visit to Charleston memorable."

  • "82 Queen is a lovely romantic restaurant and at the top of my list. I've been for both Valentine's Day dinner and a fun lunch with my friends. Peaceful ambiance and carefully prepared dishes. Highly recommended."

  • "My husband and I have enjoyed 82 Queen in the past. We were so disappointed in recent dinner. We were seated inside - a small room. There was another party ( 3 persons) on diners that were incredibly loud and unruly. It was obvious they had too much to drink yet the wait staff continued to serve them. There was an 40 minute gap between when our salad was served and when our entrees arrived. It was so loud we could talk. A disaster. We had out of town guests.. It was just awful."

  • "I was looking forward to eating here, it was highly recommended! Unfortunately we had to eat inside due to the "threat" of rain.....they had a beautiful outdoor romantically lit dining area. It never rained. We were directed to a small dining area and mood and atmosphere was just not the same. Food was good but nothing outstanding. Service was very poor...waitress was friendly but very slow in getting drinks, rolls and dinner. Can't say I would rush back to 82 Queen. :("

  • "We were seated immediately upon our arrival across the hall from a large, rambunctious group. Thankfully, our waiter assisted us in moving to the courtyard, where we enjoyed a relatively quiet meal in a beautiful setting. I had a pork chop with collard greens and fried Mac-n-cheese. My husband had swordfish over arugula with a peach compote and risotto. The food was delicious in a down-home cooking way. My pork was slightly overcooked; I had requested medium and received it medium-well. However it was juicy, seasoned well, and tender; so no complaints here. My husband's dish would have benefited from additional vegetables. This is the place to go for a tasty, hearty meal in a quaint, decidedly Charleston setting!"

  • "We had brunch here. We did make reservations, it did get somewhat busy so I would recommend reservations. The ambience was very nice. The service was great, the food was quite good. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Charleston. I cannot speak to any other meals, but brunch was great!"

  • "We have been many times and it is always top notch. Never a complaint. We always try different things on the menu and have yet to dislike anything. Service is always 100% spot on."

  • "The restaurant is quaint and situated beside two other terrific restaurants. It's known for she-crab soup and BBQ shrimp and grits. The meal was super heavy but delicious. This type of food fits best in cooler months rather than 98 degree summer dining. It is worth a visit because its delicious, a landmark and has a great patio bar."
