Third visit to Queen but it's been quite a while --it was disappointing. The lovely romantic patio was way too hot for an August evening in humidCharleston so we sat in a noisy high-ceilinged, wood floored room where every word spoken was amplified and shared with all present. Service by Tyler and team was attentive & efficient. Signature fried green tomato bites were over-battered, overlooked, had little taste of tomato. Mussels were tasty but anorexic. Gumbo was SO salty that once I'd eaten the delicious chicken and golden rice in it, I could barely swallow another bite, and left 80% of the dish though still hungry. Halibut special was pleasant but the bed of Dijon mashed potatoes so salty they were unpleasant.

The ambiance here is exceptional, as well as the service. Our server was great in all aspects. The apps were fantastic, She Crab Soup, Sausage Board, Melted Brie, Fresh Sourdough bread... The Entrees were weak. My porkchop was shot out, dry, and bland. The collard greens were good, as well as the fried mac and cheese that both came as side dishes, but could've used some seasoning. The fact that I needed to reach for the salt shaker was a problem for the price of these dishes. Overall experience was decent. I just wish the main courses were as good as the apps.

The food was very good and the staff very nice. The courtyard was not the spectacular setting we were expecting from the hotel's recommendation or the website description. The courtyard is small, the tables even smaller, and I felt like I was in a backyard. Lucky, the staff offered to move us inside since it was stiflingly hot and humid even after sunset. We had a much better setting inside and I would recommend it over the courtyard. If you are lucky enough, you can get a table for two inside which overlooks the courtyard and that would be the best if both worlds.

82 Queen isn't the trendy dining choice in Charleston. It isn't a hipster place, or known for a wildly inventive menu. 82 Queen is simply a charming, always satisfying, deliciously prepared, thoughtfully presented venue that holds its own in a town teeming with more new dining options than even a dedicated dining local can keep track of. At their request, I brought out of town guests this past weekend. The ambience, service, and food did not disappoint. It is that it was too steamy to dine outside in the absolutely lovely courtyard patio space, so we vowed to return in the fall. 82 Queen is absolutely Charleston! if you haven't been, go! If, like me, you've not been for awhile, it's time to return!

82 Queen is one of our favorites and never disappoints! We took our granddaughter to Sunday Brunch and she loved it. The salmon was great! My husband had the southern eggs benedict and he said it was really good. Try the Poppers and Peaches. Sounds odd....but it is a wonderful combination especially during peach season! We always try for the outdoor garden area - it is gorgeous. They had fans going too, which was good since it was one of the hottest days of the season.

Dined out with my wife at 82 Queen on 8/13. Our first night out without the kids in....forever! We were seated outside for our 8:00 PM seating. Should have asked to be seated inside, it was HUMID! Service was polite but they seemed rushed. She Crab soup was amazing, entrees were average (I had duck, she had crab cakes). They forgot to bring out our side and we had to ask for it. We skipped dessert. My cocktail (Strawberry Mule) was notable, but that's about it.

I've been to 82 Queen many times and have loved luncheons out in the elegant courtyard. Last week, afraid it might be too hot and buggy, we ate inside. The atmosphere was nil, might as well have been eating at home. The service was OK, but one waiter forgot our drink order. The food was good, desserts were excellent. I was just how surprised how different eating inside was from eating outdoors.

My steak was extremely chewy and almost impossible to cut. I am not sure what cut of meat it was but it had a large piece of grissel throughout. The waitress said the manager would be by to talk about it but one came. I was charged the full amount even though I was not able to eat the steak.

Courtyard was pretty. Reception was pleasant. Service was not professional. I had mussels in my dish, had one and sent the dish back, it was old and stank. They did remove the charge, but did not offer any free dessert or other comp. we ended up pouring our own wine, the service was lackluster. Will not return. Having eaten dinner twice at 82 Queen, I was frankly expecting more from brunch. The poppers were just okay and chicken salad was unimaginative and smothered in a tasteless dressing. Waffle with fried chicken was interesting but the chicken was overcooked. The highlight was the Bloody Mary.

My parents also let the server know as well it was their Anniversary. The restaurant did absolutely nothing- no acknowledgement at all. So disappointing. There are too many excellent restaurants downtown that would have recognized this special occasion. Won't be returning!!

We have been to 82 Queen several times. My husband loves it mainly because of their famous she-crab soup. I want to love it but it just doesn't quite rise to the level of several another restaurants we visit in the area. If I was comparing this to local restaurants where I live, it would be 5 star but the competition in Charleston is fierce. It is a lovely setting with a variety of small dining rooms and a beautiful outdoor dining areas sure to please anyone. The staff are very nice but never seem to be as smooth and accomplished as at other nearby restaurants. I usually enjoy my meal but it is never quite perfect. This most recent time, the bread was outstanding, the oysters were gritty. My fish was good but lukewarm.

Was expecting a better ambience. We were placed in a room with a family with children (well behaved!) , but it was just my husband and myself. We ordered a bottle of wine and it was too warm. They brought us another bottle and that was very warm as well. They then decided to chill the wine for us and blamed the temperature on being in the south!! We are wine drinkers, not a cheap bottle! That was our disappointment. My food was good and husbands just fair.

The food here is quite memorable. I had the roast duck and it was very, very good. My husband had the pork chop and macaroni cheese which sounds like a dish for the child's menu. However, this was a very grown up version. The pork chop and its peach preserve sauce was outstanding. The fried macaroni cheese with white cheddar sauce is was a deliciously, crispy twist to an old favorite.

I pleased that the restaurant could accommodate our last minute dining request. Upon booking I called to request seating on the patio and the hostess greeted me with a friendly confirmation. The outdoor setup was cozy and romantic. I did not like that I could literally reach out and touch the person at the table next to me as my sweetie and I would have enjoyed a bit more privacy. The hostess and waiter we had (Zach) were both very friendly. Zach answered our menu questions and made a few suggestions for us. The food was very good and I liked that the wine pairings were listed on the menu. I highly recommend the pecan pie if you have dessert.

This is a terrific place on Queen Street, just east of King. You could live on their appetizers alone, if you had to. My wife's chilled lobster tail was pricey, but absolutely delicious -- and more substantial than we expected. I had a cup of the she crab soup, which was the best I've ever had (I'm glad I only ordered a cup; a bowl would have been too much). My wife's southern chicken was cooked to perfection. My pan seared salmon was outstanding…and a sizable portion. We had more than enough food, but the fried mac & cheese sounded so good, we ordered two and took it back to our lodging, where we re-heated it the next morning for breakfast (we were NOT disappointed!).

My wife and I (23 years old) found this place and went for our 1 year wedding anniversary. We absolutely loved 82 Queen! We started with their crab cakes for an appetizer and I must brag at how much lump crab meat were in them! They were absolutely delicious! I got their special for the night (a fried catfish dish with cheese grits and some succotash) and my wife got the pork chop with collard greens and fried mac and cheese. The food was definitely top notch, portioned well (on the big size) and well worth the price. Our service was top notch: friendly and quick but not intrusive. We had a wonderful experience and would recommend this restaurant to anyone. We sat outside in 85-90 degree weather at 18:30 and were comfortable!

It's too bad that the food doesn't match the ambiance. We had a glass of wine in the bar before dinner. The selection by the glass was short and poor. The pinot noir was "pretty bad" and the chardonnay just OK. The appetizers were better than the entrees. The Clams Rockerfeller special were lost in the filling. The Crispy Oysters were good but not as spicy as one would expect from the sriracha listed in the menu. The entree crab cakes were tasty but not lump crab. The biggest disappointment was the chef's special jambalaya. One expects the daily special to be well executed. The house-made sausage tasted mostly of salt, never found a crawfish in the bowl, the shrimp were good, sauce OK. If more expensive, it would have gone back.

This was the third time I'd been to 82 Queen over the last 5-6 years. Apparently my memory is failing because I'd recalled it as being very good, if not excellent, restaurant. At best, it was good--and undistinguished when measured against alternatives in the immediate vicinity. Signature Manhattan cocktail was best thing I ate/drank there. Next time I'm in C'ston, I'll spend my dining dollars elsewhere--there are SO many great restaurants at a comparable price point, 82 Queen doesn't rate for my family. Three days later we dined at Husk, just three doors down, and 82 Queen paled in comparison.
