We were seated outside on a perfect October evening. Out waitstaff was great but there was one waiter that kept making remarks to the other waitstaff. It was annoying. That was the last annoying thing though. They are known for their She Crab soup and they deserve all the accolades! It was out of this world. Our entrees were fabulous! The shellfish fettuccine was delicious and not so huge that you left miserable. All in all a great evening!

I took my wife out for her birthday. We both enjoyed the meal really well. We shared a large bowl of She Crab soup (Excellent the best I've ever had). Fried Green Tomatoes (Really good). I had the Barbeque Shrimp & Grits and My wife the Fettuccine Di Mare. MY wife thought the Fettuccine was a little dry (she wanted more sauce) but good and I thought the Shrimp was REALLY fresh and prepare just right. Getting the Entree to us was a little slow but they kept the fresh (really good) warm bread coming. We enjoyed a Firefly Fruit Cocktail ( we like sweet) again.. really good.

The courtyard ambiance is very special and the food was delicious-servers were pleasant, friendly, and efficient. A very nice conclusion to our days in the lovely city of Charleston. We opted for traditional southern fare of fried green tomatoes, crab cakes, and jambalaya.

82 Queen is one of the prettiest restaurants in Charleston, with the courtyard outside (divided into several areas, which gives it a less crowded feel) and several rooms inside the restored old home inside. Great for groups or a romantic couple evening. So pretty at lunch. Do not miss the She Crab soup. I had the Roasted Beet Salad this time, which was fabulous. My husband says they make the best Shrimp & Grits in town (and he's tried them all!) There's a good-sized bar area, too, in it's own little building. A parking garage directly across the street - what's not to like?

This restaurant was once tops on my list of places to dine in Charleston. The fried green tomatoes were legendary and beef and fish entrees never disappointed. Well, the Queen has slipped! The tomatoes couldn't be saved whether fried or in the beet salad. Mushy, bland and anemic are the adjectives that come to mind. My beet salad had two beets and a dozen slices of those horrible tomatoes. In fact, the food in general was bland. The only decent dish was the bbq shrimp and cheesy grits. It's one of the old standbys. Go back to what worked or I won't be back.

Our server was attentive and the ambiance romantic but the dinners left much to be desired. Salmon ordered rare came medium and the jambalaya was dried out. We had asked that the entree order be put in after appetizer was eaten but it seemed the dinners had sat under a heat lamp.

My friends and I had heard great reports about 82 Queen and were not disappointed! The ambiance was great. We dined in the lovely courtyard patio. My only complaint was that there was no fan near us and it was quite warm. We tried the She Crab Soup which was so rich it would have been hard to eat more than the cup. We enjoyed the fried green tomatoes and the Southern Pickins' appetizer. The beet salad was nothing special. My friends both enjoyed the barbecued shrimp and grits. My eyes were bigger than my stomach and by the time my entree arrived, I could only take a bite or two of my crab cakes. They were good, but they were even better for dinner the next night when I hadn't stuffed myself before eating them.

This was our second visit to 82 Queen. Our first visit was very good and we had fond memories. We ate outside which was very nice. The fried green tomatoes were very good. My husband's pork chop was excellent. I had the scallops. I am sorry to say that they were the most flavorless scallops I have ever had. They were served with brussel sprouts, baby pearl onions and boiled peanuts. Perhaps it was a poor choice. For dessert, my husband had the banana pudding which was quite good. I had the apple cobbler which wasn't that great. Our review is therefore mixed unfortunately.

Our party found much to like: crab cakes that weren't to bready, but also she crab soup that was missing the promised sparkle of sherry and bereft of any discernible crab mean. The shrimps and grits were good. All in all, a pretty good restaurant.

Genteel setting in a quiet room - 82 Queen's "library" - allows for quiet conversations while you wait for your dinner. The crab soup and crab cakes were very good. Our dinner was a little slow in coming out of the kitchen, for which our server apologized on behalf of the chef, but we we're not disappointed with the food, nor did the wait bother us. Just remember your context, Southerners enjoy life and are not in a hurry; sit back, relax, and order another bottle of wine.

If you're local, this place gave off the kind of a feel of somewhere you'd want to go back to often. The staff treat you like they would already know half the customers by name, and can't wait to see you again. The food is very good. And most importantly, the hostess read the reservation notes so she realized it was my husband's birthday. We will go back again soon.

    Dined on 9/29/2014
We went on a friends recommendation. Booked way ahead of time. The restaurant was pretty empty. It was raining out so we ate inside. I think the outside seating area is way more charming than the inside which was very bare and lacked charm. The food was good but I was expecting over the top presentation and thought it fell short there. Maybe it was what we ordered. I was pleased with the taste of my meal.. maybe my expectations were too high? I was also expected the place to be packed due to its popularity and found that neighboring establishments were much more crowded?? Which made me second guess the reservation...Did we miss a better choice?

We dined on a night of heavy rain outside on the covered patio. I think it would have been nice of the restaurant to have moved us to an indoor location once they saw the 6" of water on the floors (soaking my purse), but they didn't. As for food, the She crab soup was superb and my Dad's crab cakes were very good however, my husband's scallops were over salted, my mom's salmon was undercooked, and my duck was not paired well with the side dish at all. For $30/ plate, that's not ok! Especially since the cooks in the kitchen were indoors, dry and not flooded like us. MUST note though: if you are served by a waiter named Zach, you are in terrific hands. I really appreciated that he did such a good job while soaking wet.

The bread and cocktail (Charleston sparkler) were delicious. I came here for a very special occasion and I didn't think it was worth it. Arrived before our reservation time, husband gave our name to the hostess, but because the computer wasn't immediately available another couple that came in a few minutes behind us got seated before us because the hostess didn't immediately put our name in when the computer was free - not a great start - had to wait for our table. Instead of having our anniversary dinner the in the more intimate part of the courtyard, we were relegated to the back of the patio and ended up being seated next to a loud table (made worse by the enclosed part of the patio). I ordered she crab soup, fried tomato bites and a salad as my dinner. My husband ordered fried oysters and the scallops dish for dinner. The grits with dinner were extremely salty :(

One of the highlights of 82 Queen was the wait staff. We had a very well informed server who spent a great deal of time explaining the menu. We followed the wait staff recommendations as well as venturing off to our own picks. Everything was spot on terrific! We were traveling, and noticed there were locals in the dinning room. That was a great signal to us! So many wonderful places in Charaleston, but if you have the chance, 82 Queen is worth the experience.
