The food was so-so and for the price, not worth the trip. She-crab soup was not the best I have had in the area, minestrone soup was very flavorful, scallops were okay, brie platter was interesting and good, pork chop was okay, nothing special, and the BBQ shrimp and grits had no flavor and the grits were cold. Sweet tea was not sweet and the bread was kind of rubbery. Guess we will try someplace else when we want to drop over $150 on a meal.

We chose 82 Queen because it was very close to our B&B and because it had good ratings. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Our server, Ian, was very knowledgeable, and explained many of the menu items in great detail. He made several recommendations. I had a cup of the she-crab soup, which 82 Queen is supposed to be famous for, and it was outstanding!! I also had a grouper dish which was a chef's special, and it was also outstanding. My wife had a pork chop which was very good. Our wine choice--a special Sauvignon Blanc--was also very good. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Located in the historic district, the restaurant exhibits southern style, in the decor and the food selections. Great service, and friendly. Quiet atmosphere (though, we did go on a quieter early Monday afternoon). Nice mix of indoor/outdoor.

We were seated in an out of the way upstairs room. They have a lovely little courtyard, and with the perfect November weather, being seated there might have made this a 5-star experience. The She-Crab soup was a-may-Zing! It was rich, so a cup split between the two of us was just the right amount. Our waiter helped us select the Southern Pickins appetizer - a board featuring grilled bread, Tasso ham, pickles and a quick fried breaded pimento cheese ball. My husband loved this dish, but I don't think great pimento cheese needs to be tricked up too much. On the recommendation of a local, we had the BBQ shrimp & grits. We didn't leave a single bite - yum!

One of our favorites and since we are locals, enjoy frequently and take guests as well as recommend to visitors. There are numerous small dining areas so the noise level isn't a problem. If the weather permits, outside dining is great. A well kept secret is that 82 is absolutely THE place for she-crab soup, don't tell the masses! All the food is delicious and you will enjoy this really nice restaurant.

This place was highly recommended but fell way short. The bar appetizers of crab cakes Tasso ham and accessories was great. However, the entres were completely lack luster. My wife ordered the pork chop. It was tough and tasteless. I ordered the highly recommended jambolaya. It came out hot but looked and tasted like rice a roni and a few shrimp. It was dry and in a clump. Awful!!! We did not order dessert but had coffee. The people and the wait staff was very good but the food tasted like a frozen TV dinner. Do not spent your money here! I wasted over $ 90 on a bad meal.

More than a decade ago, during a trip to Charleston, I enjoyed dinner at 82 Queen; Barbecue Shrimp and Creamy Grits. We recently went back to Charleston, and I booked a table at 82 Queen. I'm happy to report, Barbecue Shrimp and Creamy Grits are still on the menu and still as delicious as I remember. In a city where EVERY restaurant serves some version of shrimp and grits, 82 Queen takes this dish to a whole 'nutha delicious level. The service was outstanding and the atmosphere was romantic (wink, wink).

We have been to 82 Queen several times and decided to take out out of town friends. It was disappointing for the following: 1. We were seated on the "Veranda" which is a small three table room with no ambiance. Ask to not be seated there in the future. 2. The hostess took us to our table by taking a long walk through the open courtyard in the rain without any offer for umbrellas. The hostess has a raincoat with hood! 3. The stairs to get up to the veranda were wet metal stairs with no light. An accident waiting to happen. All this overshadowed the food which was only slightly above average for Charleston.

My husband and I tried 82 Queen last Saturday. I ordered the special - chicken and biscuits and received fried oysters on a bun. Disappointing. Waiter said he would have to 'eat" the expense if taken off our bill so we paid the bill in full. My husband received the meal he ordered. When you enter the restaurant you go thru the bar then outside and upstairs - no problem except it was raining and windy and cold. Overall experience very disappointing and a waste of time before our trip to Kiawah.

The service was great but did not make up for the food or setting. Wrought iron chairs on brick should not be allowed!! We had the southern pickings for an appetizer and it was great. I think every table around us ordered it. Our lunches were mediocre at best. The fried green tomato was greasy and eggy, the pesto was overly sweet, and the kale salad was very sweet as well. They did offer us a dessert to make up for it and we went for the apple cobbler, I wouldn't recommend it. It was kind of like a bowl of apple sauce, once again too sweet, that had bits of dough on it. At least the ice cream on it was good. We have small children so don't get to go out a lot on dates so I think that made this even more disappointing.

First, a complete bar that doesn't stock Beefeater or Tanqueray gin is odd. Second, our dinners were good for the most part. One party had a special: Cornish game hen served with potatoes and string beans. This was an ample plate, and my guest was happy and sated. The other two of us ordered seared scallops for $32 each. What arrived were four, slightly overcooked scallops the size of fifty-cent pieces, served on top of perhaps a cup of roasted vegetables. The flavor was excellent, but the serving was truly skimpy-looking for the price. Sated, we were not. 82 Queen made a sizable profit on this dish.

We heard great recommendations from several. Food was very bland and not up to expectations, nor as good tasting as a lower "rated" restrauant just a block away on Queen Street where we also ate. Ambiance was very nice, but I want good tasting food. Charleston is not a wasteland for good food, which makes this all the more disappointing.

Our waiter, although pleasant, would not stop talking. The food was overlooked or under seasoned, no salt or pepper was on the tables. I can only assume that the cook thought we would like bland food.Enough said.

My boyfriend and I went to the famous 82 Queen in celebration of a new job. We requested to sit outside and it was gorgeous, very quiet and intimate. We started with drinks and I would recommend the blood orange Cosmo, delicious. The She-Crab soup was everything everyone said it was warm and tasty for a chilly fall evening. The only downfall would be that when our food came out it was cold. I orders the crabcake and mash potatoes. The potatoes were extremely cold but I ate them anyway. My boyfriend ordered the jambalaya and collard greens. While it was tasty that too was cold, not even room temperature. The flavors were good, it just tasted like it had been sitting out for awhile. Hopefully if we choose to go back it will be warmer.
