Calamari app was fantastic, but I really went for the steak. Meat had a great pepper flavor but was significantly over cooked. Should have sent it back but service was so slow I did see our waitress enough to complain. Went back the next morning for brunch and again the food was ok. Atmosphere was great right at the base of the mountain and we had a very romantic table right next to the fire.

  • 8100 Fails the Test
    RLHKCVIP
    Dined on 7/4/2014
The real test of a restaurant's mettle is when it is "holiday busy." The 8100 Mountainside Bar & Grill in Beaver Creek, CO, failed the test on July 4th. The restaurant was busy but not every table was occupied. Our server had that deer in the headlights look. The Mizuna salads were a disappointment - $12 for a few pieces of lettuce, three strawberry halves, some almonds. and they forgot the goat cheese. My wife's grits were omitted from her entree and my pork chop was relatively small. They were out of calamari as an appetizer, the iced tea was watery; only one refill was offered. Finally, no manager ever stopped by our table to check on us. This restaurant is overpriced; the service is less than desirable, and can't handle busy times.

The location of 8100 is the only thing this place has going for it. It is in the Hyatt at the base of Beaver Creek. I ordered the halibut which was awful. They replaced it with the elk loin, which was ok, and then they charged me full price for the elk. There are many other better options in Beaver Creek for the money. For the quality, everything was over priced.

The food here is very good. The elk entree was great. The service was terrible, but to be fair, our waiter was covering way too many tables for one person to handle. The place was packed with families with young children, and the noise level was very high. I fault restaurant management for operating short-staffed during high season. Park Hyatt management should know better.

We have dined here over the years when staying in Beaver Creek. The service remains the highlight. The menu offerings are varied and consistently good. We had a party of 8 and everyone was happy with their meal. There are better destination restaurants in Beaver Creek I would recommend if you were only out for one or two nights (Mirabelle, Grouse Mtn Grill and Beano's) but if you are filling your dance card for the week, this will fit in quite nicely.

This was the last of the Beaver Creek Village restaurants for us to try. It was typical of all of the village restaurants. Overpriced and very mediocre food. In fact, my wife probably ate only about a third of what she was served. It was simply not worth eating. It was better than Toscanini but that's not saying much.

This was the worst dinner of my three trips to Beaver Creek. Service was slow, and unorganized. Food was not delivered in coordination with the courses. Our server disappeared for 30 minutes. When dinner was over, I asked them to take our three vegetable plate off the bill. I did this, because they had never brought it to the table. He looked confused and asked "do you not still want it?" As if I would eat a three vegetable plate for desert. All in all, the food was okay, but not for a restaurant with this type of price and publication. To sum it up, it is overpriced hotel food at a resort. Do yourself a favor, and go somewhere else.

I am an Open Table VIP. I've dined with my husband all over the place. We also happen to live in the Vail Valley now for three years going on four. This is one of the best restaurants around. I am not understanding the bad reviews. Christian Apetz, the Executive Chef never dissapoints. He always comes around the table and makes sure our food is exceptional which it always is...This is one of our top choices for a rare date night and today we took our child for lunch after dining there last night again. They have a WONDERFUL kids menu as well and during the day I will not hesitate to take my child there for lunch. It's an exceptional restaurant and exceptional chef no doubt. We will be back again and again.

This restaurant is associated with the Hyatt in Beaver Creek. The staff, with the exception of our server, is not warm and the dining experience has a corporate feel to it. It is fine to grab a bite to eat but overall, very unmemorable.

There are so many Great Restaurants in Beaver Creek, DO NOT WASTE your time at this one. While the food was Good the Service was beyond bad for a restaurant as pricey as this one $$$$. There seemed to be plenty of help, but they didn't support each other in any way. t had to ask for Bread which was a small basket of Bad Rolls. Drink orders were served wrong, like the waiter wasn't even listening. Hopefully management will figure out how to train this years crop of Rookies to work together before SKI season is over and they don't have any customers.

We went to Christmas dinner at 8100 and I am so discussed with our meal I feel I need to write a review so this doesn't happen to anyone else. First of all, their website has a special Christmas menu that pops up and it is NOT a buffet. It was too late to change our reservation to another place as every other restaurant was full. We got the bill and for 6 adults, two martinis total (the other 4 drank water), and nothing else, our bill was $954.32!!! I honestly thought is was a joke. The food was average at best. The Sonnenalp breakfast buffet is better than this. The service was not good either. We had to stack our plates in the middle of our table to go for seconds cause no one had picked them up. I will never go to this restaurant again.

They must have been short staffed when we visited. There was no host/hostess to seat us. We went to the bar and asked the bartender about our reservation and she seated us. Strong southern inspired menu. Manchego cheese grits (delicious), brussel sprouts w/ honey and pancetta (could convert any brussel hater). Exec chef makes rounds in the dining room to talk to patrons. Well thought out and executed menu. The swordfish was a bit over cooked and some butter/ fat could have been spared. The open dining room could be ambient if you do not go early. From 6-7:30 it's family/ kid time. At least that was our experience during ski season. There were about four children running through the dining room during service which is why I would not rate it for a romantic night out.

Never got to try the food or drink. We sat outside in 20 degrees, heaters were on so it was nice outside. We looked around and waited about 10 minutes before the waitress came over. She was a bit overwhelmed because I think 4 tables sat at the same time. We finally ordered a split of chandon and she said they might be out, but she would check. After 15 minutes she came back with bread but no chandon. She forgot to check on it. This was a bad sign. She said she would be back. We noticed everyone else was looking around and they had no food, drink or even water. I think the restaurant was under staffed or something odd was going on. We got up and left after 25 minutes and we'll try it some other time and a different server.
