Great food. Great service. However, noise level was so loud that we could barely hear others talking at our small table for 4. Not a place for a "quiet evening." Talking by others and music seemed to be amplified.

801 restaurant group has done it again! they continue to demonstrate their ability to fit unmet needs in Johnson County. The fresh seafood scene is a real challenge in KC, and this restaurant is excellent. It is spendy, and the only nit I have is the lack of reasonable priced wines, with the starting point being around $50.

Beautiful restaurant. Have dined there several times, especially Happy Hour for dollar oysters. Food is very good but expensive. Wine list is way over priced. I know what retail prices are for wine and sometimes 2 1/2 to 3 times retail price. Bar drinks also too expensive. Had 2 glasses of 12 year Scotch. One neat and one on the rocks with water. $45. Really!!! Still would go back, especially for happy hour.

The food was absolutely fantastic. My boyfriend said the charred Caesar salad was one of the best he's ever had, and my grouper was perfectly seared. It is over-priced through: $20 for 3 half dollar-sized crab cakes! You have to order at least 2 courses, as the $30+ entrees wouldn't fill anyone up.

Went to 801 Fish for the first time last weekend. I had dined at their sister restaurant, 801 Chophouse, previously and had a great experience there. Service but good, not great, but more than adequate. Our service was very good early on but towards the end we had long waits for coffee refills. The food was good, maybe even very good. My main complaint was that after spending over $120 on dinner for two, I left hungry. The portion size of my dinner was more like a lunch-sized portion. I was wondering if they hadn't brought it all to the table. The presentation was excellent but it just wasn't enough food. You shouldn't leave a restaurant of this caliber and still feel like you need to swing through a drive-thru somewhere on the way home. I realize that some will say it's the quality, not the quantity that counts but I disagree - it should be excellent quality in at least adequate quantities. Overall, I might recommend it but only with a caveat.

This is hands down the best seafood restaurant in Kansas City. The food was cooked to perfection and our server wasn't overbearing and had an answer for everything. At least 5 people also said bye on the way out with a genuine smile. Will come back anytime I have a seafood craving.

Impressive! We had a wonderful meal here, but would reserve for special occasions due to the pricey menu. Keep in mind, it's all ala carte and it adds up quickly. The ciopinni was wonderful and the romaine salad was inventive and delicious. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive.

I wrote in my reservation that it was my boyfriend's Birthday and when we arrived they had the table set up with confetti and even had Happy Birthday Menus. The staff was unbelievable attentive and very knowledgeable with their recommendations. The decor is beautiful and relaxing and reminds you of the sea. The drinks were exceptional as well as the food. We ordered the King Crab cocktail, Branzino Fish and Cioppino. Special, unique and unbelievable flavors would be the best way to describe the food. We also picked the peanut butter chocolate cake for my boyfriend's bday and it was on the house! Completely unexpected. They also gave him a signed Birthday menu from the GM and managers. Truly thoughtful from when we walked in the door to when we left. This place is a MUST. It isn't cheap but a nice night out is worth it.

The food was fine, but not outstanding. We enjoyed the Ceviche appetizer. The server, who was excellent, suggested the scallops, telling me they were the best thing on the menu. Again, they were fine, but there was nothing memorable about the scallops or their accompaniments. My wife's lobster salad wasn't particularly exciting either. Drinks and food seemed overpriced, even for an upscale seafood place.

The food and service are wonderful, but this restaurant is very expensive. When we spend $37-$38 for a dinner, I expect a potato and veggie or salad to be included. Everything is a la carte. Because of the ridiculous high menu prices, we will not be going back.

The restaurant was very attractive. Lighting was almost bright enough to read the menu without glasses. Our waiter, Chris, was very knowledgeable and helpful. The food was creative and prepared perfectly. The Ceasar salad was remarkable. The only negative of the whole evening was the hard chair I had to sit on. I will ask for a booth next time. I would also recommend having a few more choices of wine by the glass for those who do not wish to purchase a bottle.

We both had fresh fish and it was very high quality and tasty. A little too much salt used in preparation of the potatoes. The restaurant is clean, bright and very modern. The service is very good, but scripted which is the same as 801 Chophouse. Wine list expensive for Leawood or the Plaza high end restaurants. We enjoyed our dinner.

The staff were great but the food was not. We shared the surf & turf bone in with lobster tail, steak was not. Cooked anywhere near medium and the wonderful lobster tail was smothered in sauce that my wife did not like. The raw oysters were tasty, but the clam chowder was just cream mostly. All in all the experience was good but with a two hundred dollar check for two, the food should be out of this world.

Great seafood in the Midwest? Absolutely! 801 Fish is a sister restaurant to 801 Chop House just down the street. The food is fresh, creative and well presented. Because of the Chop House connection they also have great surf and turf selections. Try Happy Hour for their $1 oysters. The wine list is one of the better ones in all of KC with a good number of selections by the glass. The service is always warm, knowledgeable and attentive without being hovering. There are precious few choices for really good seafood in KC. This is one of the best. This wasn't our first visit and it certainly won't be our last.

I can't express enough how wonderful our experience was at 801 Fish! We were celebrating our 12 yr anniversary. They had a lovely table all ready for us with heart shaped confetti all over the table. Our server, Chris, was excellent in presenting the menu which had a personal "Happy 12th Anniversary" wish on it. The Chef, Sous Chef and GM all signed the menus and we got to take them home. The food was wonderful!!! I would highly recommend this restaurant for a romantic special occassion. We will definitely come back!
