A few small imperfection from the waiters but we were there very late so I understand that by the end of the night they can get tired too. Definitely not bad enough that would prevent us from coming back. We will visit again."

  • "I booked reservations for an anniversary dinner with my wife, and mentioned the occasion in a note in my Open Table reservation request - when we arrived, they wished us a happy anniversary, and had sprinkled confetti on the table. In addition, we were given specially printed "Happy Anniversary" menus, and a complimentary dessert - very impressive. The food was excellent; started with lobster corn chowder and the tomato/onion salad, which we were both satisfied with. Our steaks were each perfectly done (medium rare and medium), the Boursin mashed potatoes were spectacular, and our server was energetic and helpful. All in all a very good (if expensive) experience."

  • "This place is the ultimate special occasions restaurant. We loved it in all respects. The steak tartare and mussels were fantastic. We ordered the strip steak, prime rib and seafood small combo and all were over the top. I avoided the prime rib because it is cooked medium and i wanted rare but what a mistake. my son got it and it was great, i mean Kreis' great. The prime strip was solid and prepared as ordered with a great sauce. We ordered huge sides i recommend 1/2 orders. The mac and cheese, brussel sprouts and mushrooms were a highlight too. We brought our wine and got a fair 25 dollar corkage. We will definately return. Expect a really big bill this place is expensive be prepared"

  • "We arrived on a Tuesday night for dinner with 2 gift certificates in hand that we had bought at a charity auction. We were told that they were for the sunday night menu and not valid that night......whoa! it was not printed on the certificate nor was it noted at the auction. Personally I think the restaurant should reprint their certificates to indicate that and i think they should have honored it that night....not good customer relations! aside from that our food was great and waiter outstanding.....and of course, pricey!"

  • "We loved everything about it. Colleen was great and knowledgable. Everyone on the staff wished us a happy anniversary and that was kind. Our only complaint is that we were seated in the bar area and it is pretty difficult to have a romantic dinner in the middle of the bar."

  • "This is a great steakhouse! The food is amazing! I ordered the 16oz NY strip and it was cooked to perfection. My lady ordered the filet medallions, which come in a perfect 6oz portion, and she said they were 'melt in your mouth' good. We ordered 2 of the half portion side orders each which ended up being way too much food. The half portions are still enough to feed two hungry people. The staff was so professional and accommodating. The Moët and cheesecake are musts! My only complaint was we were seated right next to 2 LOUD cocktail parties in a booth by the bar and we waited about 10-15 minutes for a waiter.... BUT once he did realize we were there he & the GM went out of their way to make it up to us. We will be back!"

  • "This was our first time at 801 so we really didn't know much about the menu etc. Our waiter was very helpful and we had an excellent meal. It could become one of our favorite restaurants! A bit pricey, but it was worth every penny! My wife's lamb chops were the best she has ever had, even better than those in New Zealand! And I chose the fillet over the prime rib and was not disappointed!"

  • "We went to 801 the other night and got a filet and a strip while we shared two sides. The meat was cooked to our requested temperature meanwhile the sides had won our taste buds over. The Boursin mashed potatoes and the mushroom pan roast, which also had Boursin cheese on them, we're delicious. I think we would go back and just order appetizers and sides."

My only complaint was I ordered the very expensive bone in steak and per the advice of the waitress ordered it med well to get it pink in the middle and it came out no pink what so ever. I wanted to send it back but felt bad that a whole cow was used to get that cut ! I had wished the waitress had not led me to Oder med well"

  • "Yes another steak (ok chop)house in the area but the vibe seems better than the old haunts. Our server knew his stuff & others jump in to make sure you are served well. Management is very present & paying attention, a mistake many restaurants make. Our lamb was cooked as ordered & yummy. The scalloped potatoes extremely tasty. The bread comes too hot but better than cold. The Caesar salad can use some upping, & we wish they had suggested just one of us get the butter add-on...not really necessary or flavorful. Wish we had room for dessert because they all sounded good but not this time around!"

  • "My husband and I ate at 801 Chophouse this evening and loved it. We shared a ribeye steak, NY strip steak, mac & cheese side, and garlic mashed potatoes side and were blown away. We also had a wedge salad and Caesar salad, which were good. It is great that the restaurant offers half-size portions on salads and most of the side dishes. The half-size sides easily serve three people. It is too bad we were too full from dinner, because the desserts sounded amazing."

However, for that price I expect to leave thinking something I ate was amazing and must return for it. I didn't get that, and my husband felt the same. So, nothing was bad, but would go elsewhere in the future to spend that kind of money."

Carlos was our server, very helpful and attentive. Our gnocchi came out a few minutes after the brussels sprouts (no big deal) and we were given a free glass of wine...classy. Highly recommend for a special night."

  • "Prices were reasonable, service was great. We ordered from the fixed price menu (great deal) which had a couple of options. My wife ordered the filet, I had the prime rib. The filet was good but about 60% of the prime rib was very tough. Hard to cut and even harder to chew. We had a later lunch so what was edible was a sufficient portion or I would have sent it back. The vegetables and desert were very good. It was my first time at the restaurant so it may just be random chance but I've never had a bad cut at at other upscale steak oriented restaurants."

  • "The steak tastes bitter and burned. It still tastes good but not for the price. Towards the end of my meal, i felt like losing appetite. For a meal for two that costs more than $100, i expect the quality is much more better. The server was not polite and serve based on customer looks. Overall, i don't recommend this place again. There are other quality steak restaurants in St Louis metro."
