  • "We were very disappointed with the meat that was recommended and which we chose for Dinner. We chose a "high end" bone-in rib eye, 24 oz., and split it. While prepared med rare, the meat was extremely tough, had considerable gristle and was only about 50-60 % meat that could be chewed. We chose the mashed potatoes, which were very good. We also had desert, as the meat did not allow us to feel we had a complete meal. We were surprised as to the cost of some of the desert. We may not have realized the cost, as the light at the table was very dim - Should have asked for a flashlight. The wine selection was very good. Usually, we feel the meat is the most important part of the meal. We may not return."

  • "Not sure why the prices are what they are but maybe it's warranted one way or another. We spent over 1000.00 and wasn't offered anything. When you spend this type of money there are usually a few perks. My bone in was great but won't be back anytime soon because of the price. They are way to high for their product. Check around the are good steaks for much less. San Francisco was once similiar in many places. Several closed and others got more realistic with their pricing. Our server was excellent and should be promoted or praised. Thanks for the time. Jeff M ."

  • "I chose 801 Chophouse for my mom's birthday since it is one of my favorite restaurants and she had not been there before. I made note on my reservation that it was her birthday. When we arrived they had placed birthday confetti on the table, had a personalized menu stating happy birthday and the server greeted her with a warm happy birthday. Our server was FANTASTIC! He was very accommodating and knowledgeable. The food is fantastic. We ordered from the Sunday Prix Fixe Menu and it is a fantastic value and the food is superb. 801 Chophouse has been a favorite of mine since I first had dinner there a couple of years ago. I recommend it to everyone."

  • "Plan on spending $100 per person, just a forewarning. We got an appetizer, 2 soft drinks, 2 entrees, 3 half orders of sides (the sides are served family style, so a full order would easily feed 4-6 people), and 2 desserts...with tip it was just a tad over $200 for the both of us. Regardless, the food was amazing, the service was even better. Our server was very informative and helpful and always smiling. In my experience, you tend to get a hauty feel from the staff of nice restaurants, but not from our server! We went on a Saturday night with our reservation, but you could've easily walked in without a reservation...there were only about 10 tables being used in the whole restaurant, and that was between 7:30p-9:30p."

  • "This dining experience is excellent on all counts. The food is superb and the service is stellar. There are many wonderful menu options. Our party had filet, porterhouse, and strip steak options with several completely delicious sides to share. Absolutely fantastic food!! It is not a place for someone on a dining budget. However, if you are looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion and you want some excellent food, check out 801 Chophouse!"

  • "The food here is excellent, as is the service. It's my favorite steakhouse in KC. The waitstaff is incredibly attentive and does the little things well. For instance, it was just my wife and I dining, so our waiter suggested the half portion of the side dishes, which I didn't know you could do! The sides are a la carte and meant for sharing, so ordering two full-sized sides (like a potato and a vegetable) is a ton of food for two people."

  • "we had the sunday night special filet meal but honestly for $33.00, I've had better steak. I had to send it back because it came out more rare than requested then it was a bit charred. I expected it to melt in my mouth and be incredibly tender and it really was not what I expected. For the money, I don't think I would go back."

  • "My family and I enjoyed 801 Chophouse on the last evening of Kansas City's Restaurant Week. Erin was our server and explained all of our options since it was our first time there. We stuck to the restaurant week menu: filet ( upgrade the size), pork chop ( upgrade to 2 chops so my your son and I could share the entree) but added the lobster corn dogs & calamari as appetizers. Everything was melt in our mouths delightful! Erin also mention that normally on Sundays there are selected entrees that basically at restaurant week prices! My family really enjoyed the time there. My 9 year old son wrote his own review and gave it to the server. He also sad, "mom 801 Chophouse is better than Applebee's.."."

  • "My husband and I have eaten at 801 on multiple occasions. We have had phenomenal service with amazing food in the past. This last time we went it was during restaurant week for KC. I think they assume that most people coming out during restaurant week cannot afford to eat there otherwise. The service was good, but not great as it had been in the past. My husband ordered prime rib (not on the restaurant week special) medium rare. It came out well done. When he pointed it out to the waiter the waiter agreed and had another one out pretty quick which was done correctly. The manager suggested the lighting just made it look overcooked. We were not impressed."

He was very attentative and treated our two boys (12yrs & 8yrs old) with extreme professionalism which made our children enjoy the experience that much more. We will be back and will recommend 801 and Chico to everyone. Excellent service!"

  • "The service was amazing and the food was delicious, but was it $206.00 delicous......... no. I Give it a 5/5 on food with a big caveat; we had a $150 gift card. My wife and I started with the lobster Croquetts(amazing) then my wife ordered the restaurant week 6oz Filet (delish but tiny) I had the shellfish platter which was tastey as well but for $70....eh...... so $13/glass of house wine and bing bang boom your $170 deep. I do have to say though, I tipped the full 20% because the service was outstanding."

  • "We dined at this restaurant during restaurant week.The wedge salad with blue cheese was very good. My friend had a medium rare filet and mine was medium, however mine was very red and had no distinctive flavor. The meat was tender but just average taste. The 3-flavor sorbet was on both ends of the scale. The raspberry sorbet was excellent, the blueberry didn't have much flavor and the third had a herb and not sure the other flavors but tasted as if it had freezer burn so wasn't impressed with it. The waiter kept calling us "hon" which a little condescending. to females & annoying. Sundays they offer a prime rib special that we are willing to try. It seemed overpriced for the quality of the food and was extremely noisy."

  • "This was one of the best steaks I've ever had beautifully cooked and the salmon had a delicious light crust. 801 chophouse food was awesome. We went to Ruth Chris recently I got the filet and my wife got salmon. The filet at Ruth Chris was horrible, overcooked and no seasoning and the salmon was undercooked. Will never go back to Ruth Chris but will definitely go back to 801"

  • "This was my third visit to this 801 Chophouse location and probably my best experience. We decide to take part in the restaurant week menu. I ordered a ceasar salad, filet and the New York cheesecake. All three courses were great all the way around. What really stood out was the service. The entire staff that we interacted with was cheerful, polite and just all around positive. Our server, and forgive me for forgetting her name, was perfect. She was timely, friendly, and accurate. Great experience."

Told waitress this was our first time to 801, but she did not spend any time telling us about the quality of meat or anything that romanced the place. Drinks were good and the food came out on time. They forgot our side order and only realized after we asked about it. The food tasted great, but wait staff falls short, so this place does not measure up to Capital Grille, Morton's or Ruth Chris even though they charge basically same price. Nothing special, just a decent tasting meal."

It had a little too much char for my taste, but otherwise was cooked perfectly and the butternut squash soup and dessert were great. I highly recommend trying the seafood croquets...delicious!   • "This was our first visit to 801 Chophouse in Leawood, and our visit was during KC Restaurant Week. The taste and presentation of the food and the service was fabulous. We only had two minor comments which prevented us from giving an overall excellent rating to the restaurant. First our petite filet mignon, while very tasty and cooked to our liking, was a bit on the tough side. We have had better fillet at other restaurants that melted in our mouth. Second, we felt the lighting was too low for comfortably reading the detailed menu. The menu prices are quite high so with prices like that I would have expected melt-in-your-mouth steaks."
