Upon arrival, we were shown to our table and it was decorated a bit and the menus were customized in honor of my husband's birthday. They are also very accommodating, as we frequently share meals or salads and they always split it in half in the kitchen, so we don't have to do it at the table."

The staff was extremely attentive and helpful, yet you barely notice them there during most of the meal. And of course the food was fantastic from start to finish. We had great appetizers, great salads, great steaks and fresh fish, great sides, and then great desserts to finish the meal off right! There is a distinct chance you will over indulge and also spend a lot, but totally worth it for a large group or for a special occasion."

  • "After our first trip to 801 the manager contacted me and offered ample reimbursement for our mediocre experience. We decided to go last minute at 10:00 on a Saturday night. The food was great & so was Mark our server. I had the 801 prime rib & it was enormous-I barely ate a quarter of it. My partner had the KC strip with marrow butter & was also very pleased. We shared a small order of brussels sprouts and fried zucchini-also excellent. This time our server offered us a half order of the sides which hadn't been an option before. Even with a half order of each side we still had plenty to take home. We finished with the soufflé, a 20 year tawny and a vintage port. Overall, a much better experience :)"

We celebrated our 5th anniversary and arrived to find our table decorated and a special menu that had "Happy Anniversary" on it. we also got a free dessert, which had "Happy Anniversary" spelled out in chocolate on the side of the bowl. For some reason, it took awhile to get our main courses. But this has not been our experience in the past."

  • "The lamb & the ribeye were great choices. We had a bottle of wine (801 I believe). Overall, the food was okay, the service was okay (though I did find it a little annoying to ask for suggestions and constantly find we were only being told the more expensive option of everything). When preparations for steak run less than $5 it seems a bit rude to not inform your table that the preparation you suggest is not on the menu and adds a hefty $20 to the bill. Then forgetting to box up the leftovers adds to the frustration of a $200 tab. We have definitely spent this at many places for a fantastic dinner, but frankly skip 801 and head to Plaza III instead. At Plaza III you won't be disappointed with a $200 bill. Michael Smith is also well worth it"

  • "I decided to try this restaurant out as a treat for my husband for father's day. He loves steaks, seafood, etc. The ambiance of the restaurant is very traditional - dark woods, high ceilings, smaller rooms to break up groups. All of the food is served french style on a cart that is wheeled out with the plates on it. The menu made it hard to choose as so man of the items and the "fresh" items looks delicious. All of the food we ordered was amazing. Our server was extremely friendly, attentive and helpful. We will definitely be going back."

  • "The quality of the steaks was highly touted to us, as "top 3% in the country". That is great, but you still have to cook it well. Ordered a KC Strip, and thought it was just "ok". Really thought for a 12oz, $42 steak, that it would be one of the best I've had.. but wasn't close. Had a side of the garlic potatoes, and they were great. They have an excellent wine list, and enough beers that anyone can find something they like. If you're looking for a more intimate setting, make sure you get a booth. The main dining area tables really feel out in the open. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Overall a good experience, but just don't go in thinking you're about to have the best steak of your life."

  • "Just amazing. The wine list is so massive, perhaps a little too big, but I know what I like and don't need 300 choices. Let's jump to the steak. I had the 801 cut prime rib. I kid you not, 2 inches thick and as big as my girlfriend's face. I thought it was a practical joke when it got put in front of me! You will not find a bigger, better prime rib for price anywhere ever. The oyster sampler....yea. Order the soufflés too. You'll walk (or waddle) away grinning."

  • "The food was amazing - Prime Rib was fork tender, sides are very large (two to three can eat from one serving). Had the Crab Cake as an appetizer - my wife (who does not like seafood very much) raved about how good it was. The wine selection is over the top, and while I am not a wine aficionado, I enjoyed mine very much with my meal. The service was outstanding, top of the line. I really had no negatives to this night, everything was perfect!"
