Diner Reviews
  • "We just recently moved to NE from MT, we have missed the great steak houses that peppered the city of Bozeman & Billings, MT where we lived and enjoy trying new steak house during our family travels. 801 was good.....not great -Staff was very friendly as we walked in the front door and serving staff was alert to our table but I felt that waitress that was waiting on us was a little stiff, robotic with what she said & cold. -Thought the steaks where good but not $50+per great considering the sides are not included (Filet, Strip). We prefer our steaks with no added toppings (ie oscar)so we ordered std and I thought they lacked salt & pepper and not a lot of natural flavor. Nice restaurant, clean and professional but steaks were a letdown."

  • "This was an amazing experience!! Food was spectacular! I also very much appreciated the Bday card from the restaurant! A must dine in Omaha!"

  • "The 801 Chophouse is my husband and my new favorite restaurant in Omaha. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. It wasn't overcrowded and we had a romantic evening. The food was excellent. I had the filet and my husband had the prime rib. The flavor was amazing and the steaks melted in our mouths. We had cheesecake for dessert which we split between us. It too was very good. Our waiter Roberto's service was wonderful. He was attentive and helpful. We would definitely visit this restaurant again."

  • "If you are looking for top notch, quality beef, well prepared, served with complimentary sides, look no further than the Chop House at the Paxton. You will not want to rush through this meal, but instead, savor every single bite. Our waiter, Lloyd was ever so helpful in our selection process. He was very knowledgable in all aspects. When our meal arrived, and the table was set, it looked like a picture out of a magazine. The Chop House provides a rich, warm, robust, relaxing feel. We will definitely book a reservation again. Don't wait to book your reservation, do it now!"

  • "We loved the artisan salad and the hash browns are so sinful. Our sea bass was excellent and generous and the steaks were delicious. We will be back."

  • "Easy online reservation and confirmation for St Pat/ Spring break reunion with my daughter. We were greeted at the door with a happy smiling hostess, who took us to a cozy booth right next to the bar. The bar staff came around immediately and welcomed us. The waiter made several good recommendations from cooking to sauces and wine. The booth was quite and private for all the catching up. The steak was outstanding and delicious. My veal steak was worth the 150 mile drive to The Chop House. I would not hesitate to come back. Lastly, the waiter was patient with our desire to dine for 2 hours. Thanks for a great reunion dinner."

  • "I go to numerous business dinners here. The food is excellent. The steaks are cooked to perfection. The side dishes always great. However, I feel it is over-priced. Six of us the other evening payed $950, and a previous visit with six of us was $1400. Everything is a la carte. Nothing is included in main entree. The wine is also very expensive. Only a few bottles under $100. I have considered to go with my wife, but have chosen other fine steak places that has a little more value for the dollar. You can always expect great food here, but expect to pay a little more."

  • "Really enjoyed the pork belly, for a beginning. We had three different people serve the table and lost in that maze was our desire to leave in time for a show. Unfortunately our dessert arrived as we were paying our tab. Too many great steakhouses in Omaha we'll try those next time"

  • "I decided to take my culinary adventurous 7 year old to a nice dinner before a show at the Orpheum. Our server explained that the chef would be happy to make 1/2 orders for my daughter. We started with oysters on the half shell and they were amazing. My daughter loves oysters and she ate hers quite quickly. We then ordered a nice bone-in fillet, baked potato and asparagus. Our server brought out everything plattered and two additional plates so that I could easily split this huge meal with my daughter. She took her first bite of the perfectly prepared medium-rare filet and squealed. She said it was the best steak she had ever had ... and it was. We had a great experience and she can't wait to go back."

  • "My husband and I were visiting Omaha for the first time and we wanted to find a good place to experience Omaha Steak. 801 was recommended by our hotel. It was an outstanding experience. The food was very good and our waiter was very attentive without being over the top. The decor was very classic."

  • "I already recommended this place on Facebook. The food and service were outstanding. I had the Ribeye and titled this review delicate, because that was the quality of the steak. It had a delicate beef flavor and was cooked to perfection. The house salad was delicious, and for sides the garlic mashed and asparagus were good. A bit pricey, with two drinks it was $100 and I dined alone; but worth every penny."

  • "This place never disappoints. The staff is top notch, the steaks are beautifully aged and perfectly cooked in addition to The Paxton being gorgeous. I have dreams about the mushroom pan roast."

  • "The food is always perfection and the prix fixe menu is the best. It's always our choice for Valentine's Day and our anniversary and any other special occasion."

  • "My husband and I enjoyed a (mostly) wonderful romantic dinner on 2/14/14. Dinner, atmosphere and service were all perfect. Unfortunately, as we were finishing our meals, they seated a family of 4 (with a toddler and a baby) right next to us. I love children - we have 2. But on Valentine's Day - when we are paying well over $200 for our meal...we did not want to sit anywhere near little kids. It was quite a let down. I made reservations about a month out & was expecting a romantic dinner. We left without dessert to avoid being around the chatty little ones anymore. I'm sad our evening ended on a bad note."

  • "This place is outstanding! Everything we ordered wa wonderful. My husband had the bone in filet and I had the sea bass. They were both excellent! This is the top place to eat in omaha as far as we are concerned."

  • "Pros: Best steak in Omaha. Prime rib was an excellent cut of meat and cooked perfectly. Unique appetizers like marrow bones available for the brave as well. Service was excellent too. Ambiance was also good. Cons: Pricey"

  • "I was pleasantly surprised by our meal at the Chophouse. Having been to just about every "great" steakhouse in the old market, I was expecting the same. Good food, good atmosphere, high prices. My expectations were blown away. It was by far the best steak I have had downtown and my wife had the lobster Mac & Cheese (knock it if you must, I did until I tried it!), which was only second to my steak by a small margin. We shared the lobster mashed potatoes and I would highly recommend them as well. Everything was very large portions with the sides being "family style" and easily sharable between 2-4 people. I don't have a bad thing to say, they were very polite, extremely fast, and extremely well priced for what you get. Amazing."

  • "We were in town just for a couple of days. Didn't know anything about this place, but got a good sense from the online menu. Decided to give it a try. The food was excellent and the service outstanding. Will definitely go back the next time I am in Omaha, Nebraska."

  • "This was our second experience and we were more than a little concerned that we would be disappointed because our expectations were so high. No problem! Met or exceeded once again!"

  • "Great food: the steaks are the best I've had in Omaha or anywhere. The sides are perfect. Wine list is mind blowing! What a great evening meal!"

  • "My husband and I were in Omaha for a hockey tournament and we had a free Saturday night. We decided to treat ourselves to a nice steak dinner. Chophouse 801 was recommended to us and it also received good reviews. We were very pleased with our meal and service. The steak was cooked perfect and the scalloped potatoes are outstanding. The basic steak prices are in line with most fine restaurants but the bill added up quickly due to the wine cost and other courses, i.e, salad, side dishes and dessert."

  • "We had a business dinner and the ambience was perfect Everyone could have a normal conversation. Two of my guests enjoyed he bone in rib eye and raved about it. I had a small strip and it was cooked fine but was a little tough. Service was very good attentive but not over bearing. Definitely would return but don get the small strip."

  • "My special requests were accommodated (which I appreciated), but I couldn't figure out why, with the ENTIRE restaurant vacant, a table of four was seated immediately adjacent to our booth. There was literally nobody else in the restaurant (slow night) and the maître d decided, for some reason, to sit another party so close to our booth that the servers had to take turns addressing each table (about 4 feet away). I would have understood if the restaurant was busy...but it wasn’t. It was like having a party of complete strangers sit right next to you in an empty movie theater. Completely ridiculous, bordering on stupid. The only thing to say was “Seriously?” Probably won’t be going back to the Chop House…"

  • "Ambiance was lacking. Noise level was very high. Cost and Ambiance were not aligned. We visited the restaurant on New Years Eve so their objective was to turn tables may not have been the best night for a review Main Course (Steaks) were very good but NOT OUTSTANDING. Sides were good but NOT at the very good level."

  • "We made this reservation for my daughter's 14th birthday dinner. On the reservation, we stated that this what was it was for, and they had a birthday card waiting for as well as a special dessert. My husband and I were both very impressed and so was our daughter. Our daughter had a very special birthday dinner and it was all thanks to the staff at the chophouse. Thank you so much!!!"

  • "Our server was very kind and helpful, but occasionally he undermined our lack of food knowledge. We waited for a very long time for each course, even the salad, which took almost 20 minutes to be prepared and brought to us. The prices on some items were a bit steep."

  • "Appetizer was best part (lobster nuggets) I was pleased with the experience, service and food was as expected for the price. While the steak was of a higher quality cut than I can regularly find I thought the flavor was basically the same as I can grill for myself. I would maybe consider returning for seafood, but likely not as I would prefer a resturant that specializes exclusively in seafood. I tried your resturant to satisy my curiosity, but do not regularly visit steakhouses. I would probably not spend that kind of money on seafood if I lived in a region where I could purchase my own to prepare and I don't normally do the same for steak."

  • "The filet was partly okay, but there was some gristle in a part it. The ribeye had gristle throughout most of the steak. All in all, it was definitely not worth the extravagant price."
