A word from 8000 Miles
Traveling 8000 miles together from the city of Chongqing in China, our two chef partners developed plans years ago to open a Chinese and Japnese restaurant together combining all their skills, in Chinese cuisine, and Japanese techniques. 8000 Miles menu will be comprised of Chinese and Japanese small plates like tuna avocado sumiso and hand grenades with traditional items as crab rangoon and sichuan spicy dumplings. Main dishes will be combined from the two other restaurants (TL's Four Seasons and PL8) like chong ching noodle soup, dried chili chicken, thai basil shrimp, black pepper garlic beef to list a few.
Sushi will be a highlight with maki rolls featuring triple k.c., sakura roll, snow crab roll, fireworks salmon and crunchy lobster, with additional sashimi and nigiri. A great bar with many specialty drinks to please.

  • "Food was good, service was good, prices are reasonable. We will be going back."

  • "Went in during my lunch hour and waited 40 minutes before my food came out. There were maybe 8 people in total in the place. The food was amazing but the speed of service needs improving."

  • "Love eating here. The food is always good and love that they carry the Lynfred wines...especially the plum wine."

  • "While I liked the concept and the food was okay, we are from the city, so the trek out to Roselle is something that is only warranted when something is spectacular. For some reason, the place had a funky smell the whole time we were there - like a musty rag was used to wipe the tables before they opened and that really stuck with me."

  • "Fantastic Menu. Wide variety of Asian choices not just Chinese. Food quality was excellent, and service was friendly and very enjoyable. GOT to have the Mai Tai"

  • "This was our second visit to 8000 Miles, and it didn't disappoint. We brought 4 friends with us this time, and they all raved about the food and setting. They all said that they would absolutely return. We all had different entrees, and everyone was pleased. One couple had the appetizer of honey crispy shrimp (I think that is what it was), and he said that it was the best appetizer that he's ever had. Wonderful place."

  • "The opening of this restaurant a year ago has helped turn downtown Roselle from a ghost town into a busy place. This combination Chinese and Japanese restaurant has great food and a great location off the beaten path. The new outdoor dining area is very nice and quiet (inside is quiet as well so a good place for dinner conversation). My only criticism is that service has been spotty at times although that has improved."

  • "Great food! Try the all u can eat family style for six or more people. U won't be disappointed! My only complaint is the bar stools at the tables. Soooo uncomfortable. Next time we will be asking for a low top table with regular chairs."

  • "They have great food and you can buy a bottle at Lynfred for a $ 5 corkage fee."

  • "We had 7 women celebrating my birthday. We had very good service from our waitress Tip. The food was good and plentiful. We loved the special menu for groups 6 or over. A very good assortment of dishes. I wish Sushi would of been one of the choices, but no big deal being I'm the only one that eats it. We have a wonderful time."

  • "Pros: accommodated our large party of 12 at the last minute; good sized portions; dry chili chicken entree was my favorite; decor is very modern and trendy, feels like a downtown restaurant. Cons:dumpling appetizer was too greasy; waitress was not friendly and didn't seem like she wanted to be there; hostess was not very professional or helpful; food took a very long time."

  • "I went here as a referral from another family that had liked it. I had to ask for a waitress, and that was a bad start. The food was ok, we asked for spicy, and felt it was rather bland. The sushi was good, but I wouldn't order anything aside the sushi and cocktails. Not sure I would go back. It was disappointing."

  • "We have been to 8000 miles a few times now and have never been disappointed. The food is always good and the service great. I am Vegan and the are always happy to make change for me. Prices are very good and they give plenty of food for your money. Nice they have some micro brews available for us beer nuts and make a great margarita for the wife."

  • "My friend brought me here for my birthday and we loved it!!! We sat outside because the weather was beautiful. The only problem we had were the trains every 15-20 minutes. So if you love to sit outside and don't mind your conversation interrupted by train whistles, go for it!! The food is great!!"

  • "We were very pleased with our first visit here. Server was VERY good, and the food was terrific. (Crispy Honey Sesame Beef and Mongolian Beef) Corkage policy - Lynfred wine $5.00 - Any other wine brought in $15.00. Ate outside and the patio is very nice, however you will get extensive train noise and LONG train whistles as they pass through downtown Roselle. We will definitely be back. We felt that it was great value for the money. Also had a small plate of Big Eye Tuna sashimi for only $5.95. Very delicious and a good value. I don't believe that you will be disappointed."

  • "The restaurant only had 1 server and the poor bartender had to serve too. The place was busy and the food was good, but the service was so understaffed, our dining experience literally was 2 1/2 hours. We ordered drinks and did not get them for 35 minutes."

  • "This restaurant in downtown Roselle is awesome! We had the spicy calamari as an app., and it was amazing! We tried about 5-different sushi rolls, all of which tasted very fresh and delicious. Prior to dinner we stopped at Lynfred Winery next door and bought one of my favorite wines. We brought it with us to the restaurant and drank it while enjoying our sushi. A $5 corkage fee applies, but so worth it. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone."

  • "My wife and I found this place in October of last year and it quickly turned into one of our favorites. Great local place for sushi and a exciting variety of unique Asian-inspired dishes. We have yet to be disappointed by the food. I've recommended this place to friends and co-workers and they too have become fans! However, on several occasions lately we've waited quite a long time for our food. We were there on a Thursday evening and the dining room was buzzing, but not packed. We shouldn't have waited 45 minutes for our food. They do carry-out and delivery, and their menu is quite extensive. I'm not sure that the kitchen is able to keep up with the demand; Dine-in orders always get pushed in favor of carry out and delivery."

  • "We were looking for an early evening dinner (7:00) and decided to take a chance on 8000 Miles. We were only sad that we had waited this long to eat here. The food was phenomenal, the waiter was hilarious, even keeping our teen daughter entertained. We will definitly be going back. The portions are huge, the appetizers great, and the service was impeccable. "

  • "This was the second time we have been to 8000 Miles and both times it was a great experience. The server was nice and helpful. The sushi was fresh and they give you big portions. The couple we were with had the Roselle roll and said it was the bomb! Its nice that they offer a mixed menu there is something for everyone. "

  • "Fabulous as always. We eat here regularly and the food is always delicious. Great maki rolls and the service was excellent. We had a group of 10 on a Saturday night."

  • "We came to 8000 miles after stopping at Lynfred Winery for a wine tasting. Lynfred and 8000 miles have a relationship where if you purchase a bottle of wine and bring it to 8000 miles the same day, there is only a $5 corking fee. This was a huge bonus, and the staff at 8000 miles were more than happy to open our bottles for us. Our party of 4 sampled food from all over the menu, and everything was delicious (the sushi in particular). We'll be back soon!"

  • "With the look from outside as they have bamboo on the window you think you are going to walk into a Chinese-Japanese feel. But instead you have a industrial look and with the name being 8000 miles and the fact they say its that for from their home land you would think they would bring it into the restaurant. There was only one person that could of been Chinese/Japanese and the rest were american. The food was good with a typical price around $12-$15. But keep in mind if you order some of there appetizers it may only feed 1 person."

  • "I would like to thank the restaurant for taking the time to have us dine with them. My bf is gluten and diary free and they were able to accommodate our needs. They were able to taylor some of the sushi rolls for us, and that is always appreciated! We will definitely be back!"

  • "Third visit - last time was carry-out - and not disappointed. Food was great, service was great - not a single complaint. Love having so many gluten-free options to choose from, and a knowledgeable staff to work with. Looking forward to trying more new dishes during our next visit!!"

  • "Enjoyed the food here as always but the waiter Jerry added some unexpected comedy to the meal! Only thing I found I don't enjoy here are the drinks. Hate to say it but everyone just tastes off but the food and now the jokes are worth coming for!"
    Dined on 3/28/2014
  • "The look of the restaurant was not that of your typical asian venue. While the food was good, I found it a bit bland. Good sized portions, served nice and hot. The Japanese items better than the Chinese. All in all, a nice establishment with good service."
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "As always; the food here is great...if you don't mind waiting. Very vibrant menu for all kinds of tastes from sushi to tai. Usually I would be blaming the poor service for the extremely excessive wait for "raw fish" but our server was spot on and quite embarrassed. Not sure if they lost a few chef's right as dinner service started or they just lack the talent to handle a busy restaurant. I will hold out hope that management gets it together here because it would be a shame if this gem closed due to mis-management. We will give it another shot in a few months and see what happens. So far we have walked away completely satisfied 1 out of about 8 tries here. Please make it work. We desperately need a go to sushi place in Roselle."
    Dined on 3/21/2014
  • "The food is very good and quite reasonably priced. The menu has several vegetarian options and the presentation is very well done. The place had been open for a year yet I did not know it was there. I will be back since there were several things I wanted to try. Try the green beans - they are really good."
    Dined on 3/21/2014
  • "We've eaten here numerous times now and have always enjoyed the food and had great service. I am still not a big fan of Asian food, but I am learning and have usually been happy with my selections. My husband loves it, however, so I will be forced to continue to try different things (such a sacrifice LOL)>"

  • "8,000 miles is located in downtown Roselle. No complaints with the food/service at the time of my visit. Would return with no hesitation."
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "Really enjoyed our dinner here. They were very busy the night we were there so the service was a little slow, but we were seated right away and the good was delicious. We will be back."

  • "I had heard good things about 8,000 Miles, but didn't know what to expect. This upscale Asian restaurant pleasantly surprised me with its cool, contemporary ambiance, attentive service and great food. We split an order of the vegetable spring rolls which were wonderful. My Kung Pao Chicken was perfect and my friend really enjoyed her wide rice noodles. Prices were reasonable. I will definitely be back!"
    Dined on 3/7/2014
  • "I went with a group of ladies, so we ordered a variety of items off the menu, some of which were too spicy for my taste. I really enjoyed the spring rolls, wide rice noodles with chicken, and a shrimp dish (possibly thai basil?). I would definitely go back again, as it is a quality restaurant super close to home."

  • "The food was great. Our server was very nice and attentive. Only flaw of the evening was that our reservation was for 7:30pm and we didn't get seated until 8:30pm. I'm assuming the hostesses just didn't plan right because during our hour wait there were random tables available but just never next to each other (there were 6 of us). We did the Group meal which turned out to be a good deal for us. So aside from the long wait, we had a good time and would go back."
