  • "Too noisy for a really peaceful meal. The food was amazing and delicious, it's a beautiful restaurant, but the noise was overwhelming at times. It may have been just the table that we had - it was in the corner, but the noise level was too high"

  • "80 Thoreau is a wonderful restaurant. I have worked in the restaurant-world for over 8 years. This place is exceptionally well run. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. The food is fresh, delicious, creative, and fun. I highly recommend this restaurant to people who value good food and a beautiful ambiance. "

  • "Recommended by a friend. Food was excellent. Tucked on top of the commuter rail station, we had a view out to the tracks which was actually kind of cool."

  • "Great food, great ambience, great service - all close to home and with free parking. We'll be back!"

  • "I really enjoyed the selection of crafty cocktails; a decent selection of spirits. The bar tender produced a custom cocktail to my recipe; a true sign of a quality bar. The food was delish with appropriate portions for robustly gourmet food. But the acoustics of the room are not idea for a first date or any kind of intimate conversation. The smallness of the room does not provide the option of a private table. The table conversation reached near boisterous decibels at times and the proximate table next to us was frequently listening-in to our conversation. Otherwise, I had a very enjoyable evening."

  • "We've been a bit busy and haven't been to 80 Thoreau recently. Our loss! The food is imaginative and perfectly presented. The staff hits that great balance of giving you everything you need exactly when you want it while providing enough space to really have a quiet dinner with one's companion. A great menu and wine list with servers who can really help you make the right selections. We just had a wonderful time!"

  • "I took my wife to 80 Thoreau for her birthday with a last digit of zero. This restaurant is a TEN. A really interesting menu, with everything done beautifully. Their wine list is fine. And their Tonic and Gin is the best I've had - they make their own Tonic! 80 Thoreau is a Special Place for a Special Evening."

  • "This restaurant had great food, but what differentiates this restaurant from the best in Boston, is there was a much older crowd. As a 24 year old foodie going out to dinner with my husband, I felt out of place."

  • "Good all around. Cauliflower soup a very nice surprise. Missed the duck but chicken was very tastee. Wife is a gourmet asian chef who really liked the experience."

  • "Sits right on top of the Concord T-Station. What a surprise find! Great food, professionally prepared. We found the menu somewhat limited, but all in all good experience."

  • "What a fantastic restaurant. The food was wonderful as was the service. Loved the desserts too. Almost sorry we moved to FL from Concord - it would have been worth staying just to eat there more often. Will definitely be back when we are back in MA."

  • "A wonderful experience as usual! The menu changed with the season and the additions were really outstanding. The gnocchi with snails( instead of wild boar, rabbit, etc that was served in the past) was the best yet! The other new first course was Smelts over a salad, also done to perfection. And the main course ,we both had, Quails, were cooked just as we ordered and were perfect. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "We had another outstanding evening at 80 Thoreau. The food is expertly prepared, and the staff are professional and efficient. On the menu, the striped bass was a standout."

  • "Year another wonderful meal at 80 Thoreau. Seasonally changing menus always have great options with something for everyone. Excellent out-of-Boston dining without the "suburban feel"."

  • "I find the main course portions to be what I call pretentiously small. As if the smaller it is, the better it must be. I had to eat again when I got home."

  • "Everything about this restaurant is as one would wish. Polite, prompt, but unintrusive service. Superb food."

  • "For the second time we've had an amazing meal at 80 Thoreau. We were warmly greeted, seated at a table near the window (our request) and had a fabulous meal. The spinach salad had a nice citrus dressing, our entrees were absolutely delicious. For dessert, the special lemon tart was the best I've ever had. Our server was wonderful. He checked back the exact right amount of times and his recommendations were spot on. We will definitely be back!!"

  • "Been here many times but was somewhat disappointed this time with the food. Lasagna was kind of dry and salmon not so special either. Sorry-we normally love it here but disappointed this time. As usual though, atmosphere and service were great. This will not keep us from coming back again but just not up to par with what we usually have as an experience there. As always, cocktails and wine and service were fabulous."

  • "We went for Restaurant Week in Boston, so a fixed-price, limited menu. The food choices were interesting without being strange. We enjoyed 2 different appetizers and 2 different fish entrees. The chocolate-toasted marshmallow dessert was blah, but the carrot cake was fantastic - a new take on a very old classic. Service was very attentive - only possible downside was there was always a staff-person at or near your table - so if you want more seclusion, hard to get. But never had to wait for (or really even ask for) anything. Atmosphere was very peaceful and relaxing."

  • "Since it's been food week, I've visited several restaurants and I will remember this as extremely amazing food, servers, host, and bartender, and manager superb. Tables are a little too close together."

  • "We recently dined at 80 Thoreau during the March Dine Out Boston event. It was a nice break from driving to Boston for dinner, and convenient as our dining partners lived just next door in Wayland. Three of us started with the Cream of Cauliflower soup, which was delicious and beautifully presented. For dinner, two selected the duck confit offering, one the hake, and one the pork loin with pork belly. All were well executed and delicious. Even more outstanding than the food, was the very high level of service. The server was very cordial and well versed in the menu offerings, and the his wait support staff very efficient and attentive. Highly recommended."

  • "Nice warm feel in this restaurant - always welcoming. Decent wine list complements a varied menu offering. Restaurant is usually full, and has a charming ambiance."

  • "We went to 80 Thoreau during Boston restaurant week and it was a great evening. Food was fantastic, especially brandade fritters, hake and chicken. Several special extras including roasted pear sorbet and some sort of lime confection which was also fabulous. Very pleasant ambiance, and special care by wait staff. A lot of folks seemed to be enjoying themselves at the tables and the bar."

  • "Obviously a chef with a very sophisticated palate is at the helm here. Intense, well-developed flavors - even the salad dressing was perfection. The staff is outstanding, attentive and extremely knowledgeable. We are lucky to have this gem in the area."

  • "Everything was incredibly delicious, cocktails, wine, appetizers, entrees and desserts. Service, starting at the front of the house all the way through our meal was impeccable but not stuffy, just friendly, attentive and spot on. Wine list is incredible. Kudos to Ian, Vince and Chef Carolyn, keep doing what you're doing! And thank you!"

  • "We were recommended to this place by a friend...great place. The crown jewel is not the Food, which is fantastic. Not the Wine, with a special Reserve Wine List to die for...but the Service. World Class, professional, attentive but not intrusive, this place delivers a Prime NY Dining experience in the heart of little Concord MA. Wine discussed, delivered and decanted at the table by request. Cauliflower Soup w/Mussels, Smoked Dogfish Pate to start. Lovely. Roasted Pork Loin with Pork Belly and Duck Confit...delicious and beautiful. My Lemon Tart was the best dessert I have had in a restaurant in a long time. My friends chocolate mousse was just fair...but all in all a very pleasant surprise and we will be back! Kudos to servers involved."

  • "What a pleasure to dine in this local gem. Warmly greeted, we were seated in a lovely room and well taken care if throughout the evening. Four different entrees, all beautifully prepared. Good variety on the wine list. The only down IDE is that we were seated near the kitchen and could hear kitchen noises throughout the meal."

  • "I just love 80 Thoreau. The food is always delightful, the service impeccable, and love the upstairs of the old train depot location. Cannot say enough good things about it. It is my favorite place to meet friends for a mid week dinner out."

  • "So happy we finally made the time to try this spot. We were looking for a spot to have our Anniversary dinner and were able to get a reservation. We were unaware that it was Restaurant Week so we enjoyed 3 wonderful courses where we may have only opted for 2; (we're not big eaters so usually opt out of desert; though we will leave room on our next visit!). I had the chicken main course and it was wonderful; moist well spiced. My husband had a very nice salmon which he enjoyed. The wine pairing with the menu was very good. We sat at a comfortable banquet corner table and did not feel that we were too close to the tables on either side of us. Service was attentive but not overly so. We are looking forward to our return visit!"

  • "hard to find, small portions, limited menu, high prices. wouldn't go back. Resteraunt was empty and we were seated right in front of machine that wait staff order from so we had no privacy with our conversation and were bothered by staff placing orders as resteraunt filled. Poor dining set up."
