80 Thoreau is certainly the best restaurant in Metrowest Boston. But that's an understatement. This is the best restaurant in Boston, period. Lovely location, run by two supremely knowledgable restaurateurs - who relish in being hosts - with first rate, French-inspired food, excellent value, and a wine list full of finds, 80 Thoreau is our - my wife and my - top choice in Boston. The only reason for not going is because the tables are already booked.

food and service were great, but the room we sat in (by the kitchen) was very noisy!! Didn't help that there was a table of 8 nearby who were pretty loud. We could barely hear each other speak. I would go again but would make sure I'm in a quieter spot.

Went back to 80 Thoreau for the first time in a few months, and was delighted by their new spring menu! I had the Jonah crab salad and my guest the Parsnip & Nettle Soup, both of which were delicious. I also ordered the chicken, which was cooked to perfection just as before but this time with inventive and delightful new sides. There were lots of other great seasonal choices on the menu, and we split the Carrot Cake for dessert which I would order again in a second. We were also pleasantly surprised by the growing cocktail list--lots of intriguing, fun new choices in addition to the classics. I had "El Diablo" and would highly recommend it. Overall, I was once again impressed by the atmosphere and the food! We will be back again soon!

This is a wonderful, attractive restaurant to have in Concord. It is charming and elegant on a relatively small scale, but not too formal, and I see that the large bar area is very busy and "vibrant" as you say above (I did not experience it myself). The food is excellent (better than any I know of outside of Boston and Cambridge. I keep reading raves about Aka Bistro in Licoln but I like 80 Thoreau ever so much better. Aka is seriously expensive (and I haven't really loved the food), feels "precious," is somehow a colder experience than 80 Thoreau--which is worth every penny and somehow friendly even though elegant. A great place to have locally!

Continues to demonstrate excellence !! We've been visiting 80 Thoreau since its opening and not only is it consistent but the chef continues to put great new things on the menu. This particular menu cycle is spectacular (spanish mackerel, duck, lamb, rabbit, a great chicken dish, etc).

There are few restaurants west of the 128 belt that are worth going to for fine dining. 80 Thoreau is one of them. The food is sophisticated, fresh, local, and elegant, and the atmosphere is all you would expect from a restaurant of that sort with it's clean simple design and light-filled open spaces.

This is my 4th time having dinner there. It is going downhill. Not interesting menu options, same boring salad, small wine by the glass list and uninteresting desserts

Outstanding food and a relaxed, upscale atmosphere. The parsnip and nettle soup was amazing and the pan roasted duck breast will have me wanting to return, same for the lemon tart with grapefruit rind though the portion was quite small. Definitely don't share a dessert! My husband had the veal and was somewhat disappointed in the small portion. The chef is talented at putting together different ingrediants/flavors and the presentation excellent.
