I did not get my first choice on the wine list but the second one was very enjoyable. Just wish the Jorden Russian River had been available, as it is always a great wine.

Might as well say, reservations were made at the last minute, but there was a couple open slots for us. Got right in, wait staff was very pleasant, and the service was awesome! Food portions were just the right size for everyone, including the kids! Menu items offered were a nice variety, and everyone enjoyed the scenery and ambiance. Had a booth near outside view. We will definitely return! It was a very memorable day and this place hit all the right spots. Celebrated my youngest daughters birthday and it was a great time for all. Lump Crab Bisque is soooooo good. 717 South is a real gem in the Tampa Bay Area. You know it is good when you are seated for hours and it only seems like minutes. The food was absolutely outstanding, along with the service. My boyfriend ordered the duck, and I ordered the snapper. Both were cooked to perfection. The staff is very attentive. Very impressed. The scallops were cooked perfectly and the risotto cake underneath was outstanding! I've had shrimp and grits at several places, and this was the best one I have had. The broth was intensely flavored, the shrimp were cooked perfectly and the grits were delicious. We finished with the porterhouse with polenta fries and creamed spinach. The creamed spinach was different from classic steakhouse varieties; the spinach was not overcooked and it was more liquidy than I am used to, but it was that was very good as well.
