715715 cares about food and serviceEvery item we had at dinner earlier this week was wonderful - perfectly cooked halibut special (delivered from the ocean that morning!), a tasty sausage/lentil dish, appetizers, nice wine. Carefully blended flavors and textures. 715 is simply different than most places- the owners are there, staff is well-trained and everyone cares about the customer's experience. On a weeknight, we were in and out within an hour with multiple courses and time to savor both the food and the lively atmosphere. Although we've considered 715 a "special occasion" restaurant in the past, we plan to start going more regularly now. For about $75 including tax and tip, we had a spectacular dinner for two, a great value. Be sure to make a reservation.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat cocktails! We got intoGreat cocktails! We got into Lawrence late and managed to get nice pizzas and cocktails despite their being ready to close up: we were very grateful. Second time we reserved, and had a great time--had cocktails, good California rosés, and a variety of appetizers. The restaurant has life and character, and the service was friendly.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMDennis, class of 1977Second time in a week I had dinner there and both times top notch. We had a great Spanish Rioja for dinner it was very affordable. Wine was a bit warm but not unusual in American restaurants.Brunch on Sunday was wonderful. Being someone who lives in California I only wish 715 was closer.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed 715 on two of ourEnjoyed 715 on two of our three nights in Lawrence. Love the bar staff who are artists in their craft. Small portions outstanding. Pasta and steaks better than steak restaurants. Never disappointed.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe waitress and staff wereThe waitress and staff were warm, welcoming, prompt, and accommodating. The meatballs were fantastic and the food was all fresh and delicious. The ambiance was warm and campy...very interesting with an intimacy to it. They aimed to please their customers.
Just try not to sit under a fan there. They can't regulate the air flow and it was the only down side of the restaurant.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the driveOne of the best restaurants in the greater KC area. It's the only place I eat when I go to Lawrence.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was amazing! TheThe food was amazing! The waiting staff was wonderful. Would absolutely recommend 715 to any picky foodie!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGrilled shrimp was excellent!Grilled shrimp was excellent! Perfect sized dish, wouldn't want any smaller.
Seemed a little too loud. We were seated in the back which was fine but noise level a little high and tough to talk and not feel like you were talking really loud.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMReally good dining experienceThe meal was very good. The service was great. Fun atmosphere.Looking forward to going back and exploring more of the menu.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat evening with excellentGreat evening with excellent food and friends. The pasta is amazing, the choices are always full of the tried and true, but with an excellent daily menu. If you're craving a repeat dish, it's there, if you want something new you can have that, too. It is also the one restaurant in town that has never disappointed us with the desserts. They get just as much attention as the main dishes. Really good coffee as well. :-) 715 is a great date night, perfect for a GNO, good for dinner with friends, and our kids love it.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the drive from KCWe love 715. We are from KC and we love making the trip to Lawrence for this gem. The specials are always hard to resist. They are very well crafted but I find them a bit on the small side. We like to get one of the specials and one of their wonderful pasta dishes, which are huge, and share. I'd say this this place is our second favorite in the area behind only Justus Drugstore in Smithville.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was OK but nothing great.Food was OK but nothing great. 715 salad was so wet that it lost all flavor. I had the trout which was good, if slightly overdone even though I asked it to be underdone. The polenta was a good complement but the greens so spicy as to overwhelm the quiet flavor of the fish. Helpful, fun, attentive, but not to attentive server.3/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed our family dinnerWe enjoyed our family dinner at 715 last Wednesday night. I was happy that they had campari at the bar, and took some on the rocks as an aperitif. We shared a liter of their house red (on Wednesday special discount). House-made soppressata and an ounce of surryano ham made a great app. I ordered a special - the lamb gnocchi. The lamb was braised to superb tenderness, but unfortunately had 5 or 6 bone fragments mixed in. The gnocchi was well cooked, but otherwise average. A side of roasted cauliflower was a highlight, with a great crunchy texture to the outside. Roasted brussel sprouts were tasty with dates and nuts, but I missed the salty aspect of bacon or something similar. Dessert of affogato was delicious.1/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
