Diner Reviews
  • "I visited 715 with several friends. We ordered a bottle of wine and each got one of the dinner dishes. Although my pasta was good, and I ordered the small size, I was disappointed with the amount of food that I got for 13 dollars. It was not enough to fill me up, and although I enjoyed it, I expected a larger portion. However, the discounted wine bottles on the night that we dined were a nice perk!"

  • "715 is one of our special restaurants in Lawrence. The food is always good, local, and fresh. This meal was as expected--wonderful, and all in our party had plenty to choose from on the menu. The only criticism is that the place is awfully noisy, and I find it very hard to carry on a conversation--I have hearing loss and wear aids which tend to help some, but also amplify noise."

  • "I am 70 and daughter is 43 and she recommended. Tuscan means to me Italian with Florence in mind. Italian limited and no white sauces. I had Schnitzel but while meat was good, cole slaw was grocery store quality and needed more of either good German Potato Salad or Cabbage or more to make it better. Very Loud which made it hard to visit and enjoy. Watery G&T surprised me in not good way since it looked like interesting bar menu. Noise Level (Energetic) is only choice but "Too loud" and unpleasant for me to go again. Their service was excellent and food was good!"

  • "Took my girl friend there for her birthday. It was a great place, fast service, and good Italian food. All in all made for a great evening."

  • "I've been to 715 just three times now, but if I lived closer -- that number would be much higher. My most recent visit was for Sunday brunch. I chose chicken-friend pork steak, which had a tasty crunchy coating and came with delicious breakfast potatoes and gravy. Yum! A friend chose the ham & egg panini and was very happy with her choice. The winner of the day, though, was the smoked trout benedict. We all sampled each other's choices and it was voted it the hands-down winner. Next time, if it's still available, I know what I'm getting. Service was stellar, too: friendly, polite, just enough visits to the table to make sure we were well cared for, not so many as to interfere with conversation. Already looking forward to my next visit!"

  • "We went there Saturday night. As the place filled up, the noise level went up. On to the food and service....in a word excellent. I had lasagna and my husband had fried rabbit ... both were excellent. The service was attentive and very good."

  • "715 is one of our favorite restaurants in Lawrence. We particularly like ordering a range of starters, meats, and cheeses and just grazing. On this occasion we decided to order main courses. My wife's striped bass was excellent but my pizza was rather pedestrian. The starters we had were marvelous, as usual."

  • "We are regulars at 715; we come back pretty much every week and love the regular menu items as well as the specials. The service is wonderful, all of the staff are well trained, know the menu well and are helpful without being intrusive. There are not many places where you can count on the food being as fresh and local and the kitchen being so consistent. Our only complaint is that it can sometimes be too loud for conversation."

  • "Visited twice in one week. High quality food, diverse menu, reasonably priced for what you get (other than gelato that was a rip-off). Only other knock was getting the worst table in the house--a common malady for first time reservations not recognized as regulars. The irony is it contributes to not being a regular patron. Overall, a very pleasant experience."

  • "Had a fabulous meal to kick off my birthday month. Scored discounted appetizers during happy hour and then ate gnocchi smothered with braised short ribs.Fabulous! Wrapped up the night with a lemon tart cake that was huge! Did they give me an extra large portion on account of my birthday month?"

  • "I had heard how great 715 was and it did not disappoint! The service was great and the food was amazing. The waitress apologized for the delay in my pork chop...it was because it was the end and took a while longer. I literally hi fives the chef on our way out."

  • "It was an excellent valentine's evening. Our server Kate was attentive, friendly, and accommodating. My lasagna bolognese was a tad dull and tame, but still good. I plan on returning."

  • "In this day and age of chains, it is great to find a unique restaurant that does something different. It isn't cheap but it isn't outrageous either. For a party of 2, each of which had two drinks, one appetizer, two entrees, and two desserts it was $130 before tip. But boy did the waitress deserve a huge tip. Gracious, accommodating and attentive. Too bad it isn't our home town but rather we have a daughter at KU. We will be back. Congratulations for such fine food and a wonderful experience."

  • "Took my boyfriend out to dinner for his birthday. Great place--with a great cocktail list. A little pricey for a restaurant on Massachusetts Street. Solid music as well."

  • "I found the seating a little tight but its a popular place and once you sit and start the evening your really don't notice it. It is a little noisy so if you are group of more than 4 not every will be able to hear each other. A place for a couple or a group of 4. Great food."

  • "I had the rabbit ravioli and my partner had a delicious fish and risotto meal off the new years eve special menu and both were amazing. The restaurant is often loud just due to the acoustics of the building, but not so loud that we had trouble hearing. Our waitress made great recommendations, but otherwise the service was average (didn't come by as often as we'd like, but it didn't take forever to get what we needed). There was a beautiful candlelit ambiance, and great place to spend a special night."

  • "We live in Kansas City and had heard that 715 was a good place to dine. So we drove into town to see what it was all about. The salads were very flavorful and fresh but the entrées were very poorly executed. One of our party had the chicken and it was very dry. I ordered the pappardelle and it too was dry and not very flavorful. Another diner ordered a different pasta dish that was better than the others but still not something to drive into Lawrence for. My wine also was just fair. The space itself is cool and has a good vibe. Too bad the food doesn't deliver."

  • "Eat here with some regularity but also take out-of-town guests when there's a chance and the food and service are always top-notch. 715 is worth stopping in for a cocktail and small bite to eat, brunch/lunch or dinner - there isn't anything they haven't done well in the years since opening."

  • "I got the 3 meat special. The Italian ham was burnt, and there was nothing special about the meal. I could of made the same thing at home for less than half the price. Needless to say the hype surrounding the place was stomped out with the lack of potency in the meal. It was also a rather expensive dish, I expected a lot more for my money."

  • "This was our first visit since moving to Lawrence, but it had been recommended by several people, so we tried it. It was so excellent that as we were leaving, we made another reservation for an upcoming houseguest who is quite the foodie. It was truly great eating and a comfortable, yet hip, atmosphere. Every course was just perfect--smoked trout appetizer, luscious Kansas City strip steak, and heavenly chocolate mousse..."

  • "Living in the KC area, I often forget about the great restaurant options in Lawrence. This is one of my favorites because they allow outside wine ($15 corkage). So, with bottles in hand, I brought two newbies to 715. Everyone enjoyed the food (the seasonal squash/sausage ravioli was awesome). Our waitress (Erin?) was engaging and respectful of our desire for a longer dining timeframe. I can't wait to return."

  • "We had the most incredible experience dining at 715! The food was absolutely incredible, and our server was a doll! We had the Rabbit Involtini, and it was simply delicious. We live near Wicita, and were in Lawrence for the Mother Earth News fair, but we have already made plans to drive back up, just to eat at 715. It was that good. I wonder if we could eat breakfast and then go back for lunch...and then maybe dinner...does that make me a food stalker? Oh well!"

  • "First, our waitress was very friendly and helpful. She genuinely seemed to care about our experience, rather than just angling for a tip. Second, the food here is second to none. My wife is a vegetarian and too often higher end dining neglects this population. My wife and I enjoy going to 715 and eating tapas-style. We share a cheese plate, share some baguette and salad, and then get individual dishes for our third course. Third, the cocktails here are marvelous. I often have to whip out my cell phone to determine what an ingredient is. What do I not need to look up? That would be how awesome the cocktail is. Overall, this was an amazing experience from beginning to end."

  • "My pork chop was wonderful. One of the best I have had. My date is a vegetarian so her selection was fairly limited as far as side dishes. When the vegetable of the day had bacon in it (it was delicious for my side!), it says there probably could have been more for vegetarians. Service was good - very friendly. Even warned us about the bacon/vegetable. A little on the noisy side for my liking but going to the back of the restaurant helped. Still, the restaurant is very nicely done inside."
