"Always a great experience. This restaurant in a converted craftsman style house has an intimate and comfortable feel. I had frog legs for starters and the braised lamb shank entree. My wife had the escargot and salmon, which she enjoyed very much. Both meals were delicious and presented nicely. Chef Didier Poirier and his staff are friendly and accomodating. There is a well stocked bar and a wine list that includes some reserve selections. Wine prices are around 2X retail or less which is very competetive in the restaurant arena. The food prices are very reasonable for the quality and satisfying portion sizes. This was our 4th dinner there and we will definitely go there again when we visit Ventura."

"Excellent service. Good lunch menu including the sampler- soup, salad and 1/2 a sandwich.
Great desserts!!! Able to linger at end of meal to talk .

"The food was horrible, got a Kobe steak, and it was burnt. The only tasty thing was the french fries. However, French fries is good every where. So sad this place wasn't good because the set up was nice but I'll never go back. Food was off."

"Went for our 1st anniversary, so didn't care about cost. It was a tad pricey so I would be more mindful of what I order if go again. We had a very nice, attentive server, and the food came out timely, fresh, and tasted good overall. Frog leg appetizers were interesting (tastes like chicken, haha), French onion soup was incredible, and my tiger prawns over rice pilaf were ordinary but good. My wife ordered a special Seabass dish and it was a tad fishy but fine. They cooked it properly so made up for slight fishy taste. Bread pudding for dessert, which I've never had so I don't have a basis for comparison but it was tasty."

"The food was OK. For the price $32.00 my "special" lamb with tapenade was disappointing. Actually it would have been disapointing at any price. The tapenade tasted like unadulterated olive. Not the best olive either."

"Upon opening the door to the restaurant, we smelled a bad fish odor. We thought since we entered the back door the bad aroma would dissipate when we reached the dining area; it did not. Our server was very good, however the food was just so-so. We will not return nor could we recommend this restaurant."

"Have seen this restaurant since moving to the area over a year ago and it looked inviting. I was pretty disappointed. The food was not very good. I felt the waitress really pushed me into ordering the special and also felt we were rushed through dinner even though the place was not busy. The outdoor patio looks inviting and I suppose having a drink out there might be fun but I would never eat dinner there again."

"A great place in an old Craftsman house. Service was impeccable and everyone from hostess to busboy greeted us. Staff was very unobtrusive in checking to make sure we had everything we needed. Food was outstanding and well presented. Corkage fee ($15) was reasonable."
