Always have a great time at 709-- good food and wine. BUT our server was slow, distracted and messed up our order . We repeatedly reminded her we were missing items which she acknowledged but still we did not receive ! Don't know what was going on, we had to get a little nasty before she finally said-- Oops that's my fault. Too late, she got no tip. And we never did get our correct order.......

Dinner was great, had sushi appetizer and ordered braised short ribs. My sister was able to get a special dish prepared with "chef's approval" so we were appreciative of that. Made the mistake of ordering the pretzel appetizer first, if we had ordered dinner first they were complimentary. Very confusing, you'd think once you ordered dinner you wouldn't be charged since they come with the meal? Glad we got the short stack for less, since they could have been free. Overall we were pleased!

Our experience was excellent overall. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left our waiter Scott was attentive, courteous, and very informative. He was very knowledgeable of the menu. Everything we had was delicious (drinks, appetizers, main platter, and dessert). I would recommend 709 to others and looking forward to go back.

We made reservations for 8pm on a busy Saturday Night. The staff was accommodating and sat us reasonable quick....The waitress was pleasant and the service was prompt....THEN the band began to play; once the music started my boyfriend and I couldn't enjoy any conversation- war too loud. Our meal arrived quick. The sushi was fresh but the coconut shrimp salad appetizer "special" was lame; the three shrimp were too sweet- and they simply laid on a large bed of undressed leaves... The Catch of the Day (Alaskan Halibut) left a lot to be desired; while the fish was good; everything else on the plate was unseasoned and a total mis-match for the shrimp. The potato crusted salmon was equally unappealing - poorly seasoned & poorly paired sides...

My husband and I were both pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food and the good menu for a lunch in the Jersey shore. Tuna tartar was nothing special but still good quality and would get it again. The simple pizza was delicious and I recommend it.

We dined here because of the live band however, the food was delicious. The soup, portabella fries, Ceasar salad and sushi we ordered were all excellent. Very good imaginative and diverse menu, nice fresh, well cooked food with taste and a bit of zip where it was called for. We sat at the sushi bar which was great for seeing and hearing the very good band. However, we were a bit forgotten by our waitress who had to be tracked down at least twice.

This was our second time dining at 709. It was a beautiful night and we were able to dine upstairs on the patio. The drinks were yummy, dinner delicious and service outstanding. Our server, Evan, was understanding of someone in our party that had a gluten allergy and was extremely helpful. We highly recommend coming here and we will be returning again.

We were there 2 out of 3 nights because we loved it so much the first time, we wanted to go back and explore other menu options. We still have yet to get to the sushi. We really enjoyed the flat bread pizza variety, the strawberry-basil mojitos, the appetizers (esp. the pu-pu platter and goat in a coat). It's a vibrant place that we came to at an off-hour becase we have heard of its popularity. Wait service is quite good.

We always eat at 709. It is good food and drinks with an up beat atmosphere. I wish that the menu could be changed around now and then though, the entree's and the smaller fare, like the fish taco area are always the same. Sometimes when you eat an appetizer and then sushi, you feel full, and just want a smaller dish to eat. The specials usually only consist of larger meals also.

Our party of three had wonderful salads with salmon, chicken toppings. They only have dinner-sized salads which was disappointing since I just wanted a side salad to go with an entree. We also shared a thin crust pizza and their hot soft pretzels which were very good.

Each of our party of six enjoyed their dinner. Wonderful food and service. The restaurant was beautiful - we all especially loved the bubble walls. I had a special request for seating - we had an older guest with us with some health issues and we were seated in a very comfortable area. The staff was very accommodating. We return in the near future.

Reserved for Mothers Day, we were seated promptly overall not very crowded. We were greeted by our waiter who was very friendly we ordered our drinks then he took our food order. Appetizers came out promptly after we finished them it seemed as though our meals took forever to come out. The restaurant was not over crowded and the waiter did come over and apologize for the long wait for the main course. After finally getting our food all meals seemed pretty good except my own which was a chicken dish and was served to me cold in the middle even after waiting so long. The waiter apologized again and did comp our deserts.

I came with my wife to see a friend of mine perform with his band, and was pleasantly surprised by the food and atmosphere of the bar & restaurant. The portions were good sized, and tasted excellent. Service was top notch, and the crowd was a nice, friendly mix. The music played before the band came on was a very good mix. I would definitely come back again.

Tried 709 and was very disappointed. The food was absolutely horrible . The sushi and chicken were inedible. The wine although white was not the Chardonnay that I ordered. Pretty sure they thought because it was white it is all the same which pretty much describes the caliber of this restaurant.

Busy Spot, this is a pedestrian Town, Bar hoping is easy, so make a reservation!, you'll get right in. Very loud when Band is in house so check if that would bother you. Very nice variety of menu choices, but not always constent with ingredients, minor subtitutes, could be disappointing. Example: button mushrooms instead of wild as stated on menu, Risotto was still wonderful ,and the Duck was perfect . Expect to go back, a lot to choose from, try something new you proably will not be dissapointed but pleastantly surprised! All and all very enjoyable. A very nice addition to the Neighborhood!

I do like this restaurant, but this is the 3rd time we've been there over the last year and half and the menu hasn't changed at all. I think the bar menu is more what this restaurant is relying on to keep them busy. The dinner menu is limited and as I said, hasn't changed at all. I'll go back, but only to sit at or in the bar area for a burger. The staff, as always, is friendly and efficient.

During a visit last July, we were impressed by 709 Point Beach's food, service and vibe. Based a recent Saturday night visit, it seems the owners have decided to turn it into a loud, sports bar/rock band place. Which is a shame, because the food is still pretty good and loud bars are a dime a dozen. Menu is smaller than before, with more bar food. Taped music was so loud that you had to shout to hear your companions. At 8:30 pm, a band started playing rockabilly. The band was good, but were so loud that any hope for conversation was gone. Also, we had a 7:15 reservation but weren't seated until 7:35. And, the hostess decided to open the front door, letting cigarette smoke from the smokers outside waft through the dining room. Unpleasant.

Greeting service was friendly. Food service was efficient and quick. We got the fish tacos - great tacos and the serving was was more than enough (3 tacos and side of fries). The beet and goat cheese salad was good, the added shrimp was well seasoned and not overcooked. The crab bisque is one of the best we have had. The pretzel appetizer had good flavor but a little heavy, ours was a little underbaked. The special roll was good but nothing special. Prices were fair.

Went to 709 for first time recently and was quite happy with the place in general. The service was very good and the place is pretty cool as far as lighting etc. The food was well prepared and was very good. I had a halibut special that was an excellent piece of fish, but the flavor was lacking. The rice and vegetables with it were great and very flavorful. The other dishes also were quite good. The bill for 4 people with only one appetizer (calamari that we shared that was very good), no alcohol and no dessert was $185 including tip which seems a little high to me. All the entrees were over $30. I'd go back, though, I think.
