This was out second visit. The first was during Restaurant Week and we could not order from the full menu, but what we had then was outstanding. Our return visit was with friends from New York (and we know how pampered those palates are) and we all loved our dinner. My husband had the roast chicken and it was perfect! It takes a great chef to make good roast chicken. I had the lobster and loved it. We will definitely be back.

I had a business lunch with four international guests and wanted a place with excellent food and service that was commodious and permitted conversations to be heard. 701 immediately came to mind and was perfect. The skate lunch entree delighted my Korean guests and me as well. The wait staff was attentive and tolerated our long stay (2 hours) as we engaged in our discussion. Overall an excellent experience.

If you are into mediocre foo foo food this is the place for you. The portions are very small for the price and it was not even that good. I know fancier restaurants have small portions but isn't the food suppose to be very good? Our server was super pretentious too which is not cool. I do not recommend this place. There are other foo foo restaurants that you can go to that are far better.

The food was terrific, start to finish. Loved the cold corn soup, the salmon, and the chocolate ingot. The live music added to a perfect evening. Jason, our server, was attentive and the sommelier gave helpful advice. Loved it. 701 could not have been better for our special occasion. We will be back.

Always a great place to relax and enjoy good food but it has upped its game with a new menu. Deliciously prepared and elegantly presented the new menu is unique but not too unusual with plenty of meat, fish, and a wonderful vegetarian main course. 701 has not sat on its past but has moved on to continue to be one of the best in the City.

A spur of the moment pre-show reservation based on a google recommendation gave us the perfect dinning experience. The options for the various stages of the meal were familiar but still very unique. The service was perfect and attentive but not in your face. A great way to start an evening.

Each time we come, the flavors and presentation of dishes wows us. The beet salad was unique and delicious, we talked about it for days! Service is perfection. Lovely ambiance with live piano player makes us stay as long as we can every time. I nearly have to be dragged out so as not to miss my train home. We will be back!

We were 4 for dinner on a weekday night. One of our party was delayed but we waited at our table carefully attended to. Throughout service was excellent, the only slip being the common vice of today -- removing plates while some are still eating. The menu was quite varied and offered many tempting choices. However, most of the dishes just missed being outstanding -- some one or two ingredients just didn't work. E.g., bacon beignets (sounded great) with no discernible bacon flavor. Roasted chicken was delicious and perfect, but the heavy gummy gnocchi did it no favors and no celeriac in evidence. If the menu could be executed better this would be exciting food.

We had read Tom Setseima's review in a recent issue of Washington Post and were curious about the Sunday Supper promotion, so we made an early reservation last Sunday. There was no special Sunday menu because it was still Restaurant Week, but we had an absolutely lovely 3 course dinner with wonderful house cocktails and a nice glass of wine each. Service was friendly and attentive.

We were a group of seven. The food was delicious. Some of us ordered extended restaurant week menu. Overall decent value for the menu but few choices for the main course. None of us ate pork. Left us with pasta or salmon If not interested in dessert, ordering appetizer and entree for the same money may give you more choices. Great service, attentive and relaxed. Good for conversation, low noise level

We jad dinner at 701 to reunite with friends we had not seen in mnay yeats. We chose the perfect setting by selecting 701. Starting with the bat, before dinner cocktails were well prepared. Our dinner choices, salmon a d halibut, were prepared perfectly. Two of us tried the fois gras which was superb! Chris, the somalier recommended different wines to accompany both our appetizers and dinners. Each selection was an excellent choice for our respective meal choices. The piano and base duo were visible to us and very sophisticated in their music choices. I woukld rate this as SINCERELY one of the nicest evenings I have ever enjoued in Washington, DC. Statement of fact: 701 is a fabulous restaurant!

It was as if Restaurant Week were still on. 701 does not skimp on food. The service was wonderful and outstanding. 701 is a very fine restaurant. We hope to visit it again soon.

701 is an amazing Restaurant Week place to go. They always have creative new dishes to try, and a great mix of food you've never tried and food you already know you love. But the reason we keep coming back, RW or no, is Petra. Who needs more stars than 5 for her wonderfulness. She remembers my food allergy and steers me right on what to pick, and it's always delicious. Also, she's just so much fun, and we have a great time with her. It's also really nice to come in and see Jennifer up front. She's always so welcoming. Thanks!

We ate at an outside table, so can't comment on ambience or noise level, but the service was very good. In addition, it was Restaurant Week with a restricted menu for all clientele. The appetizers were excellent & we were all anticipating a great meal, but we were greatly disappointed! My salmon was not high quality; the hangar steak was equally mediocre. The desserts were worse: stale doughnuts, poor quality carrot cake--- a very big letdown. All agreed that we would not return.
