Diner Reviews
  • "lots of different things to pick from. All food was absolutely delicious."

  • "We loved this place and would highly recommend it. The ambience was very nice, the food ranged from very good to wonderful. We particularly enjoyed out two appetizers, the ricotta fritters and the calamari, and the pasta dish with duck and cherries, which was amazing! the waitstaff were all fantastic! In particular I'd like to give a shoutout to our main waitress, Sarah, who was wonderful (maybe the best waitress we've ever had). She helped make our dining experience there a memorable one. We will definitely go back,"

  • "The small plates and appetizers are all made fresh to order with vibrant spices and flavors. The wine list is the best around with something for everyone. Cocktails are excellent with many original concoctions. Entrees so flavorful with the scallops and flank steak outstanding choices! The ambiance is romantic and relaxing. A wonderful night out!"

  • "62 is always on our list for dining when in the area. Small plater and specials make for interesting dining. Usually eat at the bar and Jeremy is always attentive."

  • "Very quiet on an off-season Wednesday night. Low ceilings, dark woods, interesting art on the walls...more a place for wives and lovers than families or sports buddies. Servers are young and learning their skills. The mussel soup was deliciously spiced. I enjoyed that the mussels were already shelled. My wife had the duck with hand rolled pasta. The duck was wonderful. The Pasta slightly al dente for her taste or mine. Wine list reasonably, beers somewhat limited. A nice place to dine."

  • "As always, a wonderful dining experience at 62! The food is always incredible and the service unparalleled. This place is a real gem."

  • "We returned to 62 Restaurant and Wine Bar after a previously delicious meal over a year ago, and let me say -- this experience was just a fine, if not finer than the last! The excellent menu is refined, and the chef's preperations and presentations first-class! It happened to be my birthday, and this is where I chose to return! It also was Salem Restaurant Weekend, so our meal was drawn from their top-notch sampling menu. We were treated to divine flavors, and left very satisfied."

  • "We have been to 62 many times and the food and service always exceptional. Everything we had was creative, delicious and beautiful."

  • "4 of us went for Restaurant Week Salem. 2 had meatball app.-very good, 2 Brussel sprout app.-super yummy! Followed by mildly spicy mussel "soup"- wouldn't call it a soup and pork loin"porchetta"-not traditional, both dishes very good. Entrees were excellent- 3 pork short ribs and the hake dish. Both beautifully prepared and yummy. The men added on dessert- pannacotta, creamy delicious and the house specialty, warm toffee pudding. Nothing left of either. Our waiter was very pleasant and service was good. We have been to 62 before and will come again."

  • "We had a very enjoyable experience. The menu is very balanced and the staff is very attentive. The warm toffee pudding dessert is to die for!"

  • "The food was excellent. A subtle blend of flavors. The fish stew had heat that didn't overpower and the fish was fresh and well presented. The pinot noir at only $11 a glass was superb. Overall, it was as good as some of the best New York restaurants I've frequented and far better than many."

  • "62 is a great hidden spot for romantic dinner or, what our party was there for, an intimate birthday meal. The service was superb, the ambiance was quiet and classy, and the food was pretty great. My wife and I have walked by it many times, seeing the dimly-lit interior, hoping to spend an evening trying it out. We were not disappointed. Wonderful."

  • "The food here is fantastic. The only thing I don't like is the noise level gets too loud when you have a couple of tables filled."
    Dined on 3/16/2014
  • "My only complaint is that they have a gluten free menu but no gluten free rolls/bread. Otherwise a great dining experience"

  • "No beers on draft was a big negative. We were also sat at the worst table in the restaurant when it was dead on a Sunday. Server was great. Very attentive and knowledgable."

  • "This was the best food I have ever eaten. The plating and portions were perfect. The service was fast and friendly. Love the touch of art on the walls as well as the acid jazz music. This will be a regular stop for me."

  • "One of the most consistent places ever. Always great food great staff and just a great place. Only thing I can say to make it better is controlling the heat better on cold nights near doors and windows"

  • "From the time we walked into the restaurant until we left, the service was excellent. The waitress knew about the wines and answered questions about the foods on the menu. The atmosphere is very nice, cozy yet inviting to go eat with friends. I will definitely eat there again when we go back to Salem. I recommend this place for good food, service, and a nice place to eat."

  • "I've eaten here twice now and both times have not been disappointed. chef uses fresh ingredients prepared very skillfully. I'm of fan of bolgnese and this one with the homemade pasta is off the charts!"

  • "We love 62 and have been going there for about three years. The food is consistently delicious interesting specits And attentive wait service is also a constant The only downfall is the tiny size of the bar and The lack of hard liquor assortment. We were with friends who drink liquor a like southern Comfort and B& B which for them was disappointing. The bartender disused the limited space at the bar. If that's the biggest issue ?? I will take it. GO!! The pasta is outstanding."

  • "The service was amazing with the food coming out at the perfect time and you'd think we were the only customers. The food was delicious and creative."

  • "Went to 62 with my SO for vday; having been on many prior occasions. The Vitello (veal) antipasti was amazing. The main course was a tremendous disappointment. One of her chops tasted like an unclean charred grill. The confit: HOLY SAHARA DESERT. The dryness was overwhelming. The toffee pudding did not disappoint. Service = avg. It was not memorable. Above all else the temperature of the dining room made enjoying our valentines day difficult. The heat would go on, it would be 80 degrees, then the AC would kick in. My SO ate 1/3 of her dinner with a winter coat on due to the temperature. The wine pairings were good w/ only 1 miss. We will be back to 62, but probably not for any prix-fixe offerings. The regular menu is the way to go."

  • "My Fiance and I went here for the first time this past Valentine's Day and boy was this worth every penny. Between the vibe of the restaurant, the unique food items, and the excellence of how everything was prepared this is truly a wonderful place to eat. I just wish after eating our meal I had enough room for dessert!"

  • "Overall we enjoyed our romantic dinner for two. The main courses were outstanding. The issue was with the sides, the Broccoli rabe and mushrooms were too salty. All the sides come as an extra and they cost as much as a appetizer. Though one side is enough for two people. The restaurant dining rooms are on the smaller side and unfortunately we had a very noisy table near us which hurt the mood. It took nearly 2 1/2 hours to complete meal even though it wasn't very busy that night. While I appreciate not being rushed, the dinner service was too slow. Our waitress was very friendly and could explain the menu items to us without having to ask the kitchen staff. We will would return for a special occasion."

  • "Lovely Valentine's Day Dinner. Don't go for the view (of cars searching for slim Pickering Wharf parking), but the food is quite scrumptiously prepared and served without fussiness. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Desserts are delectable! Try the deconstructed tiramisu."

  • "Took my girlfriend to 62 on Valentines Day. We had a 8:30 reservation. Everything about our experience was excellent. The food, service, and ambiance were all Top Notch!! Can't wait to go back."

  • "The staff went above and beyond to make sure that we enjoyed our evening. The specials were intricately explained, and the food was delicious. We all had a great time!"

  • "We had a wonderful dinner at 62. Service was excellent and every dish was delicious and beautifully prepared. The pastas in particular were wonderful. Our round table for 4 was perfect for conversation and our only problem was that we wanted to try more items on the menu than one dinner would allow. will just have to go back."

  • "Has to be the best pre or post theater spot in town."

  • "Superb food. Enjoyed the home-made breads and pasta dishes. The garganelle with duck and cherries was outstanding as was the zesty zuppa di pesce. Service was attentive. Cozy atmosphere."

  • "Didn't find many items on the menu that I liked but I'm picky. The Tagliatelle Bolognese was very good but I ordered the entree size and thought it was the appetizer size. They charge double which doesn't make sense."

  • "As Beverly residents, we use this restaurant on special occasions for the quality and the artistry of the meals, the ambience, but most of all because the servers are extraordinary in their care, their warmth and their discreteness. Three times proves it to us - each time a different server, each time this sense of something quite special in the culture of this restaurant. Highly recommended!"

  • "Have been 5+ times to this restaurant with my wife. Every time the food is very good. We are pretty picky with food quality and this restaurant is our go to restaurant for a date night above any others in salem and beverly."

  • "We tried several small plates and enjoyed them all. The tagliatella alla blognese was enjoyed by everyone. The Pasta was obviously hand made. We had both the Sirloin and roasted moulard duck breast, which we enjoyed. The duck was first place. We didn't expect to return after the first time, however an anniversary gift card prompted our return. The service was excellent and the food magnificent. The management sees to have ironed out all the wrinkles since they first opened."

  • "This is our 5th or 6th time dining at 62 wine bar and each time is better than the next. The food is always outstanding (fresh, innovative and delicious) and the service matches the food in quality. I can't say enough positive things, this place is a gem."

  • "Always outstanding. A little cold in the back room it was 9 degrees out, but less noise and they did everything to make us happy. Andrew great waiter."

  • "While the menu is short, everything we had was done to perfection. The chef understands flavors and melds them flawlessly. Even the cappuccino was excellent. We rarely find food of this caliper. A pleasant surprise."

  • "62 had been recommended by friends as a great place for a special occasion. My lady and I tried it for our anniversary dinner last week and were very impressed. The blending of flavors in all of the plates we tried was wonderful (try the braised pork belly), our waitress was attentive without being intrusive, and the beer list (Yes, I'm a beer drinker) was small but well chosen. The only downside was the room's heating system - we were periodically subjected to blasts of hot air. Admittedly, the outside temperature was in the teens that night, so this shouldn't be a problem in less frigid weather. All in all, a pleasurable experience, and we do expect to return."

  • "Outstanding food, bartenders that really know what they're doing, an incredibly hospitable front desk staff, and most of all we were served by Ingrid who is, hands down, the best server in the industry. Beautiful, smart, truly knowledgeable about everything she serves from the food to the drink to the wines. And no, we didn't know her until we had the pleasure of her service expertise. Will go back again and again and again.....We're moving 25 miles away and will make the drive."
