Incredible menu and the food was phenomenal. Beautiful decor. Lighting is a bit dim in some areas and can be hard to see the menu. Otherwise, we loved our dinner at 604.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious DinnerFun event for restaurant week in the triangle. Looks like a great little place tucked away in some up and coming apartments.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat outdoor diningPerfect outdoor ambiance. Triangle Restaurant Week menu was fabulous.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Outdoor NightWe dine outside and it was absolutely delightful! Great food and excellent service5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat but slow kitchen Mother's DayHello, We dined at 604 West on Mother's Day this year (5/12/2013). Our servers were wonderful and the food delicious. However, the food took exceptionally long to come out of the kitchen. It was crazy long. Lucky for us it was a lovely day outside and dining in the courtyard made up for it a bit. Outside dining here is really nice.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time dinersI love the Sunday brunch menu & the upscale but relaxed feel. Food presentation was exquisite. Very fresh grapefruit/fennel salad, perfectly-cooked pork loin and shrimp & grits to rival Humble Pie or Crook's Corner. Sadly, the cheddar chicken biscuit w/sausage gravy was dry & overcooked. Disappointing for what should be a deliciously unhealthy treat. Overall the food & brunch cocktails would lead me to be a repeat customer. However, the service, while friendly & competent, was so ridiculously slow, from start to finish (e.g., it was 25 minutes from being seated before drinks arrived) that I am wary of returning for dinner or any other time that I want to have a meal in less than two hours. Hopefully this was a one-time staffing issue.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMNice Pre Theatre ChoiceWe enjoyed both food and service before a show at the DPAC.
We have already recommended 604 to friends.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMCouldn't ask for more!My wife and I dined here last Saturday. The restaurant was about 3/4 full. They have a nice outdoor dining area that doesn't look out over a parking lot. Kelly was a great server -- his descriptions of the specials demonstrated a true passion for the food he served. We shared a risoto appetizer (plenty for 2) that was perfectly prepared. Our entrees were the scallops and the pork loin. Both were excellent! We were going to a show so there wasnt time for dessert but that will be on the list for our next visit -- which will be for Mother's Day brunch. I would definitely recommend 604 at West Village!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was wonderful...theThe food was wonderful...the best mussels I've had in a long time...the lemon cookie dessert was just right, light, sweet and lemony...thanks for the great service and pre-show dinner.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place for a first date.Great place for a first date. Food, wine, service and atmosphere is excellent, makes for a memorable evening.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGot to try this!Mussels were fantastic. Portions were generous but not over the top. Wait staff well trained and did not interrupt with status questions - my personal pet peeve. Great evening though too chilly to sit outside. We'll look forward to al fresco dining next visit.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMI don't know what to say otherI don't know what to say other than this place is great. The food, the service, the menu changes often enough to keep us coming back at least once a month. The desert menu needs some work but other than that I have no complaints.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMlovely place. excellent foodlovely place. excellent food with large portions. reasonably priced4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWill be back for brunch!I was so excited to try the new brunch menu here and was not disappointed! The weather was gorgeous so I sat on the patio. Definitely some of the best patio seating around. Its not right next to the street and there are big umbrellas to give you just enough shade.
I started off with a Bloody Mary. There are a number of different varieties so I chose an extra spicy one. It was perfect and clearly made from scratch. For our meals, I had the eggs benedict.....hollandaise goodness. My husband had an amazing chicken and biscuits dish smothered with cheese, bacon, and sausage gravy.
The highlight though was the service. Nicole was attentive and friendly. Kept our drinks full (a challenging venture) and was the icing on our brunch cake.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AM604 at West Village, Durham, NCWe had a very enjoyable experience. A little hard to find from parking the first time, but worth the effort. Near DPAC so a nice place to eat before a show.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMEvery time I have eaten hereEvery time I have eaten here it has been very good and excellent service.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMA party of four, We had anA party of four, We had an excellent experience at 604 at West Village. The food was really good; I loved the mussels, which were served in a very rich and tasty broth. Also, the gnocci (and all the other dishes for that matter) was fabulous. It's a bit pricey, but worth the money.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great dining experienceWe had a great dining experience at 604. Menu was simple but offered good options. Food was great. Atmosphere was sophisticated and the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.
We highly recommend 604!!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat "before show" restaurant!I had been there before, and dined with a different group this time, before a DPAC show. They also liked the restaurant and will return. This is the third group I've recommended the restaurant to, and all have had great experiences. The food was wonderful, but the calamari could have been spicier.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFine dining in downtown DurhamAlways like dining here. The food and service aware consistently good. Not crazy about the table layout as I prefer the more intimate layout the had previously, but it won't keep me from dining there again.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMEasily our favorite placeEasily our favorite place to eat. Brunch is new here, but they did an excellent job. Service and food are fabulous!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome restaurant for dinnerAwesome restaurant for dinner before or after a show at DPAC and now Sunday brunch. The menu changes enough to keep it interesting. I go at least once a month. Loads free of parking, great staff, just all around good times. I've not been to a better restaurant in Durham.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThird time wasn't a charmI've been to 604 thrice. This time was a Saturday night. The waiter was over solicitous and spoke very quietly. My wife and I had to confer to sort out the specials. The primi were supposed to be appetizer sized (small, for one). Instead, the calamari formed a small mountain, somewhat greasy, under-salted (and we never add salt), and not that appetizing. The prosciutto di parma was okay but not special. For mains, my wife had a plank grilled salmon with cardamon rice and a balsamic reduction sauce. Didn't work. I had crab-stuffed shrimp over linguini. It didn't have a lot of flavor and was way too rich, especially since the crab was covered in a light cheese. The wine list is decent. The atmosphere is great, but I'm not sure we'll be back.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMHi, we had the Lamb RagoutHi, we had the Lamb Ragout and the snapper. Both of these were very good. We had the calamari as an appetizer and it seemed very fresh, the coating was crispy and not too breaded, and the calamari was tender. The only thing we felt was poor was the aioli. It had the consistency of water ans was almost tasteless. A simple marinara would have been much better. By the way, I tried to leave this as a private note to the restaurant but there was not enough space.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great experienceWe had a great experience at 604 at West Village. We were headed to the theatre and needed quick service. Everyone was very nice and accomodating.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways consistent. The go-toAlways consistent. The go-to spot for good, Italian food. Everything we've had has been great!3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMCan't wait to return! Our first time trying this restaurant, what a great find! The patio looks amazing, though the weather wasn't quite right for outdoor dining on this night. We started with the tuna tartare and loved it! Next we had two small pastas (amazing, housemade pasta!), both were delicious. For entrees we had the special, stuffed flounder, and the lamb shank. Both were hearty dishes, but just fancy enough to compliment the fine dining atmosphere. I had a cocktail - mature and well made. The wine list was mostly Italian, but our waiter was able to recommend some glass pours that were just what we were looking for. The service was friendly and attentive, without being intrusive. We will surely return soon!3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was really good. We wereFood was really good. We were there on a Sunday night and it was very quiet. Would like to go back again and sit outside on the patio. Too cold the night we were there. Service was also very good.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFourth time at this restaurant.Fourth time at this restaurant. Never disappointed!!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
