Diner Reviews
  • "As it turns out, the menu is used for both lunch and dinner............but, it is a better lunch menu!!!"

  • "One of the best brunch spots in town.Great food and music coupled with outstanding service."

  • "Service at both the bar and restaurant was excellent, very friendly and attentive. Appetizers were great. We started with the Texas chili and hamburger soup. Both were interesting and delicious. For the main course we had Texas blue foot chicken, which is $52 and meant to be shared. It is basically just a somewhat bland rotisserie chicken, and not a very big one. Costco sells larger, tastier ones for $5, which I would choose over this one any day. I don't have a huge appetite and do not usually eat big meals, but I had to have a snack when I got home because I was still hungry. I was also somewhat disappointed with the wine list. Hopefully this is all just growing pains. I may try again but it will be several months before I do so."

  • "While dining with another couple, the male said "....something is not quite right..." and I replied that it might be the incongruity. Here you have, on the one hand, a handsome, contemporary decor with very upscale service and great food presentation with, on the other hand, a menu with choices that look like it was designed for a very casual fast food restaurant. My burger was okay as was my wife's. Our friends chicken was so-so as was his wife's fish. Oh, well. I am going back for lunch later this week and will see if the lunch menu is different. The other three guests are in agreement with this conclusion. Suzanne and Ken Weatherly written by Ken."

  • "Superb service. Interesting menu. Delicious food. Crab cake is worthy of a return visit, so is the cowboy steak. I can't wait to try the blue footed chicken."

  • "My friend and I enjoyed the vibrant scene and environment. The server was helpful with menu recommendations. The seafood app and meal was very good. Will definitely go back again!"

  • "Perhaps too much was expected in line with the substantial hype accorded the restaurant. Neither appetizer, entree, nor dessert was satisfactory. Might be a second try after some months, but cannot recommend at this time."

  • "We were excited to try 60 degrees after reading the review in the newspaper but were disappointed all the way around. The service was very slow when we were there. We arrived and had our table within 15 minutes of our reservation but waited forever before ordering. We finally flagged down a waiter. The noise level was so loud it was hard to hear across our small table. The food was good but not stellar. The chicken to share dish was ok(Costco has just as good roasted chickens and cheaper!) and the brussels sprouts were plain. We noticed that there was a variety of hamburgers on the menu but a surprisingly small selection of beers. It was not worth a second chance in our opinion."

  • "We really enjoyed the food and service but it is very loud"

  • "I ate here for my birthday, and I have to say I'm so happy I did! The atmosphere is upscale and posh with clean and modern decor. The food was excellent, our waiter Robert was fantastic and knew the menu very well, the manager and chef stopped by and chatted with us. I could tell that everyone that worked there really cared about the restaurant and the patrons in it. A great new hip steakhouse that doesn't disappoint!"

  • "Exquisite and interesting cuisine. A pleasantly surprising find!"

  • "Hip place with an impressive menu. The burgers were huge and very tasty - specifically the surf and turf burger."
    Dined on 1/17/2014
  • "This new place is outstanding. The "ranch to table" concept is interesting and seems to work. The much touted beef was excellent. The service was eager and attentive, but still just a bit shaky at lunch. I'm anxious to go back for dinner."

  • "We finally had time to try 60 degrees after hearing all the hype, boy is it overhyped. The service was absolutely terrible and insanely slow. We sat for nearly 15 minutes before someone asked if we needed something to drink. The drinks took roughly twenty minutes to get after we ordered them. We ordered the green tomatoes with jumbo lump for the app and it was rather bland. The mains took approximately 45 minutes after we finished our app. I had the "wagyu" ribeye which was about as good as a grocery store bargain steak. It was thin and I ordered it rare and it was cooked medium rare. My wife ordered the lamb chops and they were cooked perfectly but bland. We dropped $250 on a meal that was on par with Golden Corral."

  • "Dinner was great. I went with my family and the staff was good with my young son. Very good children's menu, but still a high end adult menu. Service was exactly what you expect from a restaurant of it's caliber. Steak was a very good cut and quality and cooked exactly to order. I would definitely go again. I will go for lunch they had a mix of menu items that allow you to go expensive with a premium steak or cheaper with a simple salad."

  • "This was our first visit but won't be our last. We had a very nice meal and excellent service. The manager came by our table to ask about the food and service. This is always a good sign when management is interested in your experience. I had a salad and Crab Cake. It was excellent...lots of crab. The other guest with me all reported that their food was excellent also. The restaurant has a contemporary layout and has a private dining room for groups. We will be back."

  • "What a find. Can't wait to return because so much was intriguing. My party had Tex-Mex Salad featuring their Akaushi beef. May have been one of the best entree salads I've ever had. Fried green tomatoes with lump crab was some of the most beautiful lump crab ever. Parmesan asparagus was served in a cone pomme frite style with Pesto dipping sauce. Yum. Too windy to sit on beautiful patio for dinner or just drinks from the bar. Our server's name was Katy and she could not have been more knowledgeable about the menu. Cannot wait to return"

  • "The Classic burger is the best I have eaten in years. The patio is lovely during Happy Hour. Great wait staff. Highly recommended."

  • "The food was excellent, but extremely over priced. I can do without 8$ tap water and simple martinis for 13$. Up charging on the special was a little weird as well. 50$ fish special in Houston? It was worth checking out but there are much better places around which are far more reasonable."

  • "Steaks are the best in town. All of the food that we had was spectacular. Highly recommend the restaurant. ."

  • "I have been here for date night and for an outdoor happy hour with friends. Perfect atmosphere for either. Great food options for happy hour and love the cocktails! Texas wine on the wine list!"

  • "We dined here soon after they opened, so it's really not fair to write a review. All restaurants have kinks when they open and not all are fault of 60 degrees. One issue was the street construction that had lots of the restaurants property ripped up. I have seen it from the outside lately and it's improved quite a bit. Fritz Gitschner came to our table and all the other tables and introduced himself and asked opinions and spoke about his concept. He seems to have a great vision. Most every item we tried was very enjoyable but I really wasnt impressed with the Akaushi Beef. I thought its color, texture and taste were not great. Having said that, I will return for sure and give it another try, as I expect many improvements."

  • "That's right, there is a $200 burger on the menu. Thinking this was exclusive to NY, I was wrong... As to the restaurant, its certainly cozy and even got a bit warm on the evening we had dinner with good friends but the food more than made up for it. 60 Degrees is a VERY welcome addition to Houston culinary scene. We'll be back and be bringing friends with us."

  • "Great new find! Started with white truffle fries and their amazing chili (the best I've ever tasted!!) for "appetizers" and then moved on to delicious burgers (try the pretzel role) with veggie sides. Too full for dessert this time but next visit (which will be soon!) will leave room. Can't wait to return. Brunch menu looks amazing."

  • "A great addition to the neighborhood. Food excellent. Valets seemed overwhelmed. Front desk person was not particularly welcoming. Our waiter was terrific!"
    Dined on 3/5/2014
  • "The food is outstanding. The steak butter that came with my filet was unlike anything I've had before. My 3 companions all had burgers and they raved about how good they were."

  • "Very underwhelmed decor sterile staff very stiff chef was only seen briefly and not cooking tables way to close waiter took way too long explaining the menu and pushing very hard for the beef offered at outrageously priced$7 an ounce with 8oz.minimum took 2 attempts to order a cocktail and 2 trips to bar to be served asked about faux dove and was told it was 3 breasts which we ordered and were brought to the table in less than 5 minutes we then knew it was prepped way in advance tiny pieces of chicken stuffed with no taste cheese jalapeño soggy wrapped in beef bacon that had absolutely no flavor decide time to leave and sat for 15 minutes trying to get waiters attention went to hostess stand paid $30 for 2 drinks 1 Appetizer and left"

  • ""My husband and I went there for my birthday. What caught our attention was the Akaushi steaks that I read on the menu. The food was very good. The seafood campachanas and faux dove appetizers were excellent. We share the Cowboy Steaks and it was really good. Best steaks ever, meat was tender and very juicy. It took my husband and I a while to find something we both liked due to the fact that we are so picky. Overall we had a great experience. Service was marvelous. Will come back again."

  • "We were sat in the middle of the restaurant, where it was very loud and our server did not seem to see us as she passed by. Salads and desserts were average, not special, though my table mates really enjoyed the crab cakes appetizer. The purpose of our visit, however, was to eat the tender famous steak, and that did not fail us. We eat steak often at Houston's finest steak houses, and the filet here was the most tender and tasty cut of meat I have put in my mouth. I'll return for the steak and hope that the rest of the food and the service improve over time. Decent wine list and knowledgeable sommelier."

  • "Tried this restaurant on a Saturday night. It is small and loud but a lively atmosphere. The food was great and fresh and the service was OK but dinner+drinks were very expensive. It is a nice place to experience once buy I don't feel the need to go back."

  • "Had a midweek dinner here and loved it. Master Chef Fritz Gitschner's influence can be seen in every detail of the presentation and taste. Flavors just seem to go together. And a must-try is the Akaushi beef in its many forms. Flavorful and cooked to perfection. The menu provides an array of choices depending on your mood, not just for steak-lovers. Must have dessert as well. Try the hazelnut chocolate mousse."

  • "Food was great, wine list is impressive. However, the service was a bit slow, perhaps a start up kink that the masterchef needs to work through. Manager was very responsive to our complaint though and made the night very pleasant after a rocky start."
