In a quaint area. The service was exceptional from all concerned. The menu, although fairly short was interesting & the food (bolonese & chicken under a brick) was excellent. We will definately be back & will be brining friends !!!

Our first visit was great. Try the watermelon appetizer. Chicken under Brick was the best. The dessert (chocolate cookie with ice cream) was average and what kept me from giving high fives all around. Service was personal and timely without being intrusive.

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but I won't rush back even though the food was delicious. It has become way too loud. I don't know if it's because they changed the artwork, but it's much noisier than it used to be. Our party of four had to shout to hear each other.

This was my first time here, but it will not be my last. The fish tacos were a great starter to share. The rigatoni was amazing... Fresh pasta and a perfect sauce. Get the large size.... If you can not finish it, take it home... Even leftover it was great. The wine list was perfect... Everything you want without being overwhelming. Great service from beginning to end.

Visited this lively place September 3. Substantial erosion in food quality since my last visit 15 months ago, with many good visits before that. Hard surfaces everywhere makes the place very noisy. Patrons were abundant and seemingly having a good time.

  • But for the salt and the service
    OmnivoreVIP
    Dined on 8/30/2014
As the menu tells you, much of the produce is grown on the roof. It can't get any more local or fresher than that, so the summer salad with truffle was great. The watermelon steak is wildly inventive, and I'm glad I ordered it. The wine was as the sommelier described it, and reasonably priced. But my chicken and my wife's salmon were drenched in salt--I felt the crunch of the crystals as I ate, and my wife was unable to finish her dinner due to its salinity. Our server seemed to have trouble finding the right rhythm in a room that wasn't that crowded, although others tried to pick up the slack.

Arrived at time of reservation to empty restaurant. First seated directly under blowing AC vent which we turned down. Then offered only other table practically in the kitchen. Load, moderately disgusting and just a plain awful experience. Too bad because the food is OK but not good enough to spend the evening watching the kitchen slaves scraping plates. Kitchen looked pretty dirty from my view. Wine list expensive. We might be back but if those two tables are offered again, I think I will opt for pizza. We watched group after group reject the same awful tables but most of them ended up with OK seats. We should have argued more I suppose but maybe the restaurant should fix the problem tables.

51 Lincoln is a favorite. We had dinner there on August 23. The food was well prpepared and the service staff was efficient. One complqint though. I ordered the Atlantic Swordfish. As good as it was I have never seen swordfish so thin. The size could noy have been more than 3/8th of an inch thick. Being one of the most expensive items on the menu I think the cut should have been more generous.

We've had some very good meals at 51 Lincoln in the past, but their concept changes regularly and this last iteration of the restaurant is overpriced for what it is. There is one bottle of red wine on the menu under $40 and very few under $60. The main course was good, but I don't think it was worth the $35. Not sure we'd go back, but the restaurant's concept seems to change regularly, so we'll wait a few months and see what happens. Too bad.

  • Terrible rib-eye

    Dined on 8/19/2014
I ordered the rib-eye steak and, while it was deliciously spiced, it was virtually inedible. The majority of the cut was filled with fat and gristle. Most of it could not be eaten. We mentioned it to our server who discussed it with the chef. The response was that ribeye is a fatty cut of meat. No attempt to look at the problem much less to replace or offer a credit was made. My husband and I did not bring it home for our dog because we were concerned it might choke him. This restaurant did not stand by be quality of its food!

The only downside was that it got pretty loud in the dining room. Try to get a corner table away from the center if you need to have a serious conversation.

I don't even like watermelon but agreed to split the watermelon steak salad with a friend. Absolutely one of the most amazing things I have ever tasted! The texture of the watermelon really is like a rare steak. Chicken under a brick was wonderful as well. Service was slow the night we were there. Hope that was unusual because I would like to go back.

The food is excellent and the decor is very nice. We dine there with family a couple of times a year. However, every time we arrive I am reminded of why we do not go there more often -- the noise. For a small restaurant, the noise level is sometimes deafening. I do not think this is due to the bar, since there were only two people at the bar during our last visit. Just seems to be the acoustics. Our party of four had to lean forward and significantly raise our voices to be heard, and this was before all the tables were filled. This definitely decreases our enjoyment of this restaurant, and decreases the likelihood that we will linger for coffee or dessert.

Three of us went for a nice dinner and it was so loud that we could barely hear each other! The food was really good, but the waitress forgot one of our appetizers, which was a bit of a bummer. It was my birthday and my husband had called to arrange a special dessert with a candle...but the staff didn't remember and had to be reminded. However, when the dessert came, it was very tasty! Still... Finally, when we asked for the check, it took a long time for it to be brought over to the table. We came away thinking that the food was great, but it was loud and the staff's attention to detail was underwhelming.

Best meal we've had in a long time! Everything was delicious. Our only wish was that the Bolognese appetizer was a little larger. It was delicious, but seemed a bit pricey for the portion. Chicken under a brick was fantastic, duck was delicious, steak was cooked perfectly rare and tasty, 5-spice rubbed tuna special was great and prepared perfectly rare. We will be back!

We are never, ever disappointed with our food choices or with the service at 51. My white wine always arrives very cold at 51, which is just the way I like it. The cold gazpacho and lobster risotto from your summer menu was just delicious--the perfect light summer meal, followed by an after dinner coffee. A trip to 51 is always a special occasion for us. We had a dinner with friends at 51 Lincoln, and were very pleased. The calamari were done very well, flavorful and original, not at all greasy. I had the fabulous Parisian gnocchi, a special of that night, which were delightful, bite-sized puffs sauteed to a goldern perfection, served with a scattering of beans and tomatoes. The best part of the meal was the perfect chocolate cream pie, delicious and fresh tasting, not too heavy and not too sweet. Other people at the table had the salmon and the steak, which they enjoyed very much.

I love food that's seasoned, but this was bordering on too much. I had the special which is 4 courses and $55, and was a lot of food and a good value. The chicken pate and a cheese were tasty for my first course. I had the clams next and while tasty were so salty they were almost inedible. The skate was nice but also bordering on too salty. However, my two friends who ate with me absolutely loved their meals (rigatoni and chicken).

Had not been here in a while, it's out of my usual driving distance. I remembered the food and service as very good but this was beyond my expectation. My seared scallops (a special) were as good as any I've ever eaten. My date (whose birthday it was) loved her steak. Each side dish, notably a risotto, was prepared with an individual flavor but balanced with the other items on the plate. Simple things like bread and salad were prepared with the same care as the main courses. The service was attentive, courteous, friendly, excellent. The wine list limited but very well sourced. The most memorable meal I've had in at least a year. The birthday lady, who is very particular, was delighted. I will go back soon.
