In the heart of the Meatpacking District, this gem of a restaurant offers great food, a warm and romantic ambience, in a beautifully renovated old townhouse. Cozy bar on floor one, great dining room on floor two, and (okay, I never made it up to the top floor, but something interesting is happening up in that lounge area, I think). The service was impeccable. It's bustling, with a sophisticated crowd of locals not tourists, without being too crowded or sceney, which is unique in the MPD. I'll definitely be back.

We were late for our reservation on a busy Saturday night and really thought that our table was at risk of being given up. However, they graciously held the table for us and seemed more concerned that the rest of our party had been waiting rather than anything else. The food was very good - short ribs cooked perfectly as well as a tasty Greek-inspired salad. The octopus dish is also excellent. 5 Ninth is our favorite spot in the Meatpacking District as it seems to be more about the food and a good vibe then the "scene" which is the problem with so many other places in this area.

Food was pretty good this time. However the side of bacon that I ordered was burned to a crisp. They remade it for me and was good the second time. It was just embarassing for them that the chef would let that leave the kitchen.

Went here with my wife, because I remembered this place for serving good food in a cozy atmosphere. They did not disappoint. The duck was fantastic and the chicken was perfectly done. Kirt, our waiter, gave great service without hovering. We sat on the second floor - it was quiet without being silent. As we were leaving, a group came in to celebrate a birthday, so I'm sure that changed. I would recommend this restaurant if you want to relax with a short-list menu and fun service.

After a slight hiccup with waiting 45 minutes for our reservation because they erroneously sat another group of 4 at our table while we were still sitting at the bar patiently, when called on it, the hosts responded very quickly and sat us right away, acknowledged their mistake and offered us a comp bottle of champagne...from there waiter was fun and energetic, food came out fast, and was delicious...definitely go there again...

A gorgeous restaurant in a townhouse. Simple spanish italian food, very good flavor and portions. We were a group of 5 people opted to sit on their 2nd floor dining room which was full. cosy with two fireplaces. Staff did an excellent job. also have a cocktail bar open later in the week. We waited for over 1 hour for a table and we had reservations! They ended up making a table in the walkway of the bar where it was drafty. The waitress never checked on us at the table, nor did we even get bread at the table. We had to ask after seeing people get bread. What type of establishment is this? I would rate this restaurant below par and not to mention when we left we had seen that the restaurant did not have a letter grade on it like all restaurants are suppose to have. it was grayed meaning that the last inspection they had, they could have failed but they are doing renovations to make up for it, that is why it is missing a letter grade. Would not come back!

Went on a Sunday for a 1:30pm reservation. Booked an outdoor table under the awning. It was really nice and quiet but it is a small space but I didn't mind that. Staff did a fine job but were not the most social. Food menu is limited but delicious. I had the spinich and feta omelet which comes with a small side of salad. My Sister had the ham and cheese sandwich which she loved and described as "decadent" (it also came with a small side salad). For a place for a quick brunch then walk along the Highline, it is perfect - but don;t expect anything more than that.

Not a good experience. The setting is beautiful, but the food is just OK, the service level is very poor/indifferent. We were a group of 7, arrived shortly after opening for a brunch in the garden. The restaurant was not very busy. The server made two errors with our order and the pacing was poor. One of our party received his meal 15 minutes after the other plates were delivered. One had to search for the cheese in the beet and goat cheese salad. In the middle of MePa, there are so many better choices. For those who still want to give it a try, take note that the restaurant applies a 20% surcharge to the bill regardless of table size, then suggests that the server should also receive a tip. My tip: skip 5 Ninth.

This restaurant is just fine, but we went on a hot Sunday afternoon for brunch and only the top floor had air conditioning. We had to wait a few minutes for the last remaining member of our party to arrive, and it was unbearable waiting by the bar downstairs, so we went outside and waited in the heat, where at least there was a breeze. This was really kind of odd and not very pleasant.

Have always come to 5 ninth for drinks, they have great cocktails and music. But I was quite impressed with the food when dining there recently. We ended up moving to the garden for dinner which in itself is gorgeous. We were a large group so we ordered a few apps to share. I had brunch on Father's Day at 5 Ninth. We ate in the outdoor courtyard. I had a Seared Yellow fin Tuna with Avocado, spicy aioli on tostada. It was an amazing interpretation of a gourmet fish taco. My son had the best challah French Toast I've ever had (he agreed) and my daughter had Seared Salmon on Sourdough with Tzatziki sauce, cucumbers and baby arugula. The restaurant is both rustic and beautiful inside. The courtyard is so beautiful. We all were incredibly surprised by how good the food was.
