Diner Reviews
  • "Went there with family in Easter. The waiter at first was rude. The later service was better, I had there Chipotle chicken tacos it was delicious. We had two servings of the blue mint lemonade, one was great the other two sweet."

  • "Arrived a bit late as unable to get a taxi. Hostess got us a table so we could make our show. Had the Avacado-Ranch burger. Delicious burger. Service was excellent. Nice atmosphere. Would highly recommend if looking for a casual dinner in NYC. "

  • "The restaurant was packed, exceptionally loud and the house burger was over cooked the first time and almost raw the second time. I would not recommend."

  • "2nd time here. Best burger in NYC. Demand a booth."
    Dined on 4/10/2014
  • "I have been eating at this restaurant for several years and the quality of food is always good. My problem lately is that the portion sizes have shrunk and the prices have increased considerably. Additionally it took a while to get water while our glasses were empty. There are so many options in the burger scene in NYC that better attention needs to be made to portion control and presentation. The salad I had had a little bit of cheese and hardly anything else but greens."

  • "Second time we dined here before taking in a show. Food was excellent. Hubby had a burger, I tried the lobster roll sliders, which were excellent. The music was WAY too loud, causing everyone to scream, which made the noise level unbearable. I'm a big music fan but TURN DOWN THE MUSIC!"
    Dined on 4/8/2014
  • "The ambience is good, however the music was way too loud for us. You have to shout to each other wich is not helpfull in eating the further great burgers."

  • "Me and my friends came from New Jersey to see Les Miz. Before the play we went and ate at 5 Napkin Burger. We had an amazing time there."

  • "The food was really good, everyone enjoyed their plates except we were sitting where the draft from outside would hit and so every time someone entered the restaurant, we had a very cold draft of very chilly air, we had to eat with our coats on. Other than that, it was all very good."

  • "I am not from NYC, but travel about 2 hours by train at least once a month. In the past few weeks however I have been to the City three times and chose 5 napkins each time to dine.. We first chose this restaurant because it had great Gluten Free options for my daughter who is 20 years old. We now continue to eat there for that reason and the bonus of every dish we have tried, we have loved. The burgers are to die for (even with gluten free rolls) , the deviled eggs are delicious.......mahi mahi sandwich, awesome, I can go on and on! Oh and the prices are reasonable too!"

  • "Three of us Went to 5 Napkins before going to a play, we arrived At 5pm. Restaurant nearly empty, by 6pm it was almost full. Noise level went from low to high and we could not talk over the din. Two of the three orders were not grilled to done level requested. Very rare when medium was requested and a rare burger when a medium well Two waiters were chatting just behind us for over ten minutes, customers going by had to bump into the back of my chair to squeeze by. We will not return."

  • "Went to 5 Napkin last night before going to see Of Mice And Men. Had a 6:45 reservation, seated my wife and I within 5 minutes on a busy night. Sat us at a table near a open door, we asked to be moved .They instantly moved us to a better table (great customer service). We both ordered the 5 Napkin original burger, both medium rare. They came to the table in a short amount of time. Both cooked perfectly, a total taste sensation. Even though it can be a little loud here the burgers are worth it."

  • "I took my daughter here for lunch. The place was hopping! For as busy as the place was the service was outstanding! We each enjoyed a burger with fries! Both were cooked to our individual liking! I would make an effort to return the next time I am in the city."

  • "Was looking for a good burger in NYC and came across this hot spot on a top 25 list. Able to make reservations which was a plus on a Saturday night. The restaurant is pretty small and tables are very close to each other, but that was the only downfall. Food was fast and unbelievable which was complimented by the awesome waitress that tended to us. Turnover seemed pretty quick as the long line of people probably didn't have to wait long that didn't have reservations. If you are looking for a great, thick juicy burger I would definitely recommend. Will be visiting on my next trip to NY for sure!"

  • "5 napkins offers tasty, quality burgers and a choice of sides. Service is great but the place tends to be very noisy."

  • "Food was tasty and solidly prepared. Our table of three each ordered the same thing. It was delivered alarmingly quickly. Maybe a little too " fast food" for my comfort level. Decently priced. Music a little loud for conversation. But overall good experience."

  • "I can honestly say this is my favorite restaurant in all of NYC!!! I Love a good burger and this is the BEST. I've eaten at many amazing restaurants in my life, but I just really love what they do at 5 Napkins. There's something so simple and perfect about it, and they've also got a great menu if you're not in the mood for a burger as well, but personally I can't recommend their burgers enough. Just writing this review is making me crave one of their burgers."

  • "We had reservations for three. We made the reservations well in advance. They put us at a table that had a stack for a leg. There was no legroom at all. Also put us by the door which kept opening and it was freezing. The name makes you think I will need 5 napkins to eat this burger. Not so much."

  • "We meet there on a regular basis. The food is always great but be warned, it is always crowded and loud at brunch on the weekends. If you are looking for a quiet brunch, this may not be the place for you. The service is always fantastic. They have a solid craft beer selection (would love to see more hyper local beers on tap) and the cocktails are always fun. The price is right."

  • "Great burgers cooked just the way we requested. Fast service from time of ordering to getting the food. Cool interior decor and a nice vibe to the place. Our waitress was smiley, bubbly and happy. We ran a little late for our table reservation and although our table had been given away (rightly so as it was our fault running late) we grabbed a drink at the bar and waited 10 minutes for another table. Burgers were amazing and lived up to the 5 napkin name. One of us had the fried chicken and waffles which was also top drawer and rivalled any of the 'soul food' joints in the City. Will most definitely return. Only down side to our experience was the barman who must have been having 'one of those days' and was a bit rude and stroppy."

  • "We made reservations via OpenTable the same day for this restaurant. We knew we were going to be in the area of Times Square after going to see Matilda at the Shubert Theatre. It was only over a couple of Avenues, and up one street. We arrived a bit early for our reservation, but our table was waiting for us. They don't have a Kids menu, but do offer options for children. Our daughter choose the hot dog option. It is a regular kid size hot dog. She also requested it come with fries. My husband and I shared the Original 5 Napkin burger. We had it cut into two. It is big. It came with fries and we ordered a side of their Panko coated onion rings. Our server was fantastic. It was a great time."

  • "I enjoyed the food and the ambience was great. It's a beautiful restaurant that has a calming feel to it. Their pork ta quitos were delicous not to mentio, fantastic shakes. I plan on going back soon."

  • "Our server, a total sweetheart, was incredibly knowledgable about gluten free menu items. They carry really delicious, not at all hard as so many are, GF buns and they have a separate GF fryer for their french fries. The food was amazing and the service was incredible as well. Katie Couric walked in to dine with her husband while we were there, so that can't be a bad sign!"

  • "We went here after seeing The Jimmy Fallon Show. We were an hour early from our stated reservation time and they sat us right away. We ordered burgers and fries. They were tasty. Service was ok, our waiter seemed bored with yet another visitor from out of town. The deal breaker with this place is that the bathroom was a mess. My husband went and told us both it was bad, my daughter went and came back wihout going. If we had gone in there first we would have left without eating."

  • "We heard fantastic things about this burger place so we had high expectations going in. Unfortunately we found it to be completely overrated. Our burgers had too much meat, were tasteless and sauceless. The sides were a decent portion size but also were very bland. Desert was average. The only good thing was the fries, if you like a lot of salt. We have no reason to return here ever. We're going back to Shake Shack."
    Dined on 3/9/2014
  • "Everyone in our party order one of the burgers. Burgers were good and so were the fries and rings. Place was busy but service was good and the noise level was not bad."

  • "Had been wanting to try this for a while and glad we did. The burgers were very good and reasonably priced (for NYC). Lots more here besides burgers and shakes. Everything was executed well. Worth a try."
