  • "We had a wonderful lunch experience with Tom, our server, who was pleasant and helpful with the menu. Burger was great, shakes were wonderful, and dessert (brownie sundae) was marvelous."

  • "It's great at what is supposed to be...a burger bar..fantastic options and very accommodating.... "

  • "We enjoyed the pickle/pastrami app very much. The burgers and tots were under-seasoned and the fries were over-seasoned. The waiter was pleasant, but not attentive. The app was dropped off by a food runner and we then had to flag the waiter down for plates (he was at the station scrolling his smart phone). Also getting water and refills on drinks was like pulling teeth. My husband had to ask three times for water and after one of those times the waiter literally walked by us with a water pitcher and ignored us. Strange! And the place was busy but not full, so there was, really no reason for it."

  • "I got the five napkin Burger and my husband got the lamb burger. My burger was cooked perfectly but his was extremely dry even though he asked for it to be cooked medium. Server was great. Drinks were good. A little on the pricey side for burgers but overall yes not a bad experience"

  • "I would describe this restaurant, overall, as "fine". The food is fine, the service is fine, the ambiance is fine. However, it's overpriced for what it is. I got the veggie burger with a side of onion rings - both tasted good, and I didn't have to wait too long for it to come out. I wouldn't complain about the food, but I wouldn't rave about it either. I'd honestly rather go somewhere else that was priced the same but where I would get my money's worth. I've had comparable (and better) veggie burgers and onion rings from rib joints where the entrees average $10 a plate."

  • "My boyfriend and I came here early in the evening on a Saturday for a few beers, burgers, and wings. The beer selection was good, the wings were very crispy and delicious and both of us enjoyed our burgers. I had the original burger. Only suggestion I would make is ask for any sauces on the side because there was a lot! Very good food and service though."

  • "After looking at this restaurant online, I thought it was going to be an upscale burger joint. Not so. It was merely a high-priced, nothing special burger, burger joint. The food was decent, though the appetizers were mere tastes. The potato skins were baby potatoes cut in half, served 5 to a plate. That's only 2 and a half BABY potatoes. We were unimpressed. The service was very good, attentive and polite, with well-timed drink refills. I wouldn't bother going back."

  • "All I was really looking for was great burgers (and I was hoping for good drinks too), and 5 Napkin totally delivered. We tried a few of the apps and drinks, and everything we ordered was really good. The service was fast and friendly. I have no complaints and would definitely go back."

  • "I came here for dinner with a friend during the Anime Boston Convention. We were promptly seated and had our orders taken. The food came out quickly. I ordered the bacon cheddar burger, which was good, but nothing to write home about. It's something reminiscent of something I'd get at Cheesecake Factory or even Fridays. It was good, but not great. My friend ordered the BBQ burger, and he wasn't a fan. He thought that the texture of the bun was too hard, and he didn't like the green tomato chutney sauce. The fries were ok. I got the impression that this is an overpriced burger restaurant. The thing I liked the most about this place was the beer list. They have lots of craft beers like Magic Hat and Smuttynose, which are hard to find."

  • "5 Napkin Burger is a perfect place in Back Bay to have a delicious burger and be in a cool atmosphere. We got there at 5:30 and the bar was packed with Friday night cocktails and the restaurant filled up quickly after we were seated. Service was friendly & fast and the food is always good. Their veggie burger is the best that I have had, and my husband loves lamb burger. My kids love the burgers and also the big salads. Easy choice when we are all happy with the place. Their beers on tap change frequently and we love the microbrewery varieties offered. I highly recommend this place!"

  • "This place was great to meet for a friend who was in town for work. Most all of the downtown hotels are near the Prudential and that's where this restaurant is. We were a little annoyed that the specials they told us about at the bar didn't carry over to the dining room but the fries were great."

  • "I came here for Valentine's Day with my girlfriend at 7 and it was the perfect time to get there. Not a whole lot of people were there (I don't think many people know about it). The Burgers were great and the waiter was really nice. We had a great dinner and my girlfriend and I were actually able to have a conversation without having to yell. Overall, I would give 5 Napkin Burger 5 out of 5 stars and I definitely highly recommend this restaurant to others."

  • "Great burger joint, lots of choice/selection. Wish we had one in Toronto!"

  • "Service was fine. Food was acceptable- nothing outstanding or notable. The order was slightly wrong but nothing major. I ordered the veggie burger- it was clearly house made, not a soy patty that many other restaurants pass off as a veggie burger- you can really taste the components (beets, carrot, lentils)- not for everyone but filling and tasty."

  • "Pub style setting, very good service, pretty comfortable atmosphere. With the basics of burgers and salads, all in our party were satisfied. I would recommend for lunch or late lunch. Fits well with a Boston afternoon and has reasonably good food for the money."

  • "Some restaurants insist on serving nothing but cucumbers. This place serves Burgers, the only acceptable form of food containing buns. They also have french fries, one of two uses for potatoes. Even the ketchup is correct! I also have friends who eat cucumbers who still can find something they enjoy here. If I had a nickel for every time I enjoyed these Burgers, I would have a dollar amount."

  • "VERY few veg options. Lame. Their tacos could be vegetarian, but then the server looked at me funny when I asked for no chicken, which he brought, on the side, anyway! Seriously, this place is a burger joint, but non-meat eaters deserve a place at the table too."

  • "We must've hit it on an off night, late Sunday after a show, because we had a restaurant to ourselves mostly. We each got a burger and boy oh boy was it delicious."

  • "I love burgers, but this place comes up short. I ordered the Original 5 Napkin Burger. It was served with too much cheese, way too much mayo (enough for probably six burgers) and not nearly enough onion. After we were seated, we waited 8-10 minutes before even being approached by the waitress. We only saw a waitress because I went to the hostess to let her know the problem. I do not recommend this restaurant. If you want a real burger, go to Mr. Barley's in Harvard Square."

  • "Good burger, good service, and lots of choices for those who are looking for a different take on the variation on the ground beef burger. The servers will help you with the choice and offer a few suggestions if you ask. The only shock is the price, as these burgers are not for those looking for budget priced burgers."

  • "Best guacamole in town!! And as expected their burgers are good too!"
    Dined on 1/15/2014
  • "We had heard good things about 5 Napkin and wanted to check it out prior to going to a hockey game across town. We had informed the waiter that we were heading to the game that night, which he acknowledged. We ordered the guacamole appetizer, which was good, and the signature burger to split. The onions on the burger were tough, the rosemary aioli was almost overpowering, and while the burger was cooked properly really left us disappointed. Dessert was disappointing in the lack of brownie for a brownie sundae. In the end, the waiter vanished prior to bringing us the check, resulting in us being late to the game, which was also frustrating."

  • "The food was mostly not fit for human consumption. The burgers were small, in no way was it a 5 Napkin Burger! The sauces on them were cold, the fries were cooked in what smelled like old oil. The barbeque fries were sprinkled lightly with barbeque seasoning which doesn't make them barbeque at all. We also had the pretzels with cheese fondue. The fondue sauce was watery and thin so dipping was pointless and the barbeque sauce for the burgers themselves was more like an onion jam than sauce and loaded with Cumin which is an odd ingredient for a sweet barbeque sauce."

  • "We landed in Boston in the middle of one of the worst storms in years and found ourselves in 5 Napkin for dinner. The place was warm and inviting and our server, Ben, was fantastic (and cute!!). The food was tasty and the cocktails were even better, a definite recommendation from us!"

  • "It was really great food and a cute place. Great find!"

  • "The five napikin burger was one of the best burgers I have ever had. However our other orders were definitely below par. The menu is not as discriptive as it should be, so our other orders were not as expected. The Tuna burger was the biggest disappointment. It's just a seared tuna steak on a bun. A huge waist of a tuna steak."

  • "Pretty good eats...the 5 Napkin in Union Sq in NYC is better though...same exact food so I'm not sure why but it was def not as good in Boston. =("

  • "Granted we were there at 9pm on a Wednesday but either our server was new or wasn't happy she got seated because she left the menus at the table after we ordered, spilled my cocktail (which came about 5 minutes before our meal did), and then disappeared until we were ready for the check. This was my first time at any 5 Napkin location, but overall as long as you're not expecting top-notch service and are just looking for some good food, it's great."
    Dined on 12/11/2013
  • "The burgers were only OK. Certainly not worth the $14 and up."
    Dined on 12/14/2013
  • "A $14 burger with a bun that was falling apart as soon as I picked it up! An old-style ketchup bottle that took 5 minutes for the red stuff to ooze out. Bacon that was cold and stale. There was nothing about the burger that was so special that it warranted the "gourmet" price. You can get a better, juicier burger at almost any regular burger joint. This was the second time I visited. First time shortly after they opened. Wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. No. Won't be back."
    Dined on 12/10/2013
  • "In the end, 15 dollars for an average hamburger is expensive, in Boston, or anywhere. It is a good meal, but hardly worth the price. It is what it is."

  • "The meals here were amazing, but our service was really really slow."

  • "Five Napkin is a great spot to dine. There's enough choices for carnivores and vegetarians. We go regularly because my son craves the onion rings (they're awesome) and the 5 napkin burger. I like that I have a choice in salads and can stay on my diet. The hostesses are always pleasant and I am able to hear others at my table, in spite of the vibrant bar activity. My only issue this last time was that our server, while pleasant, was too assertive with his up-sell of appetizers, drinks and dessert. I get why, but it was a little over the top, and it took him awhile to understand that it was unpleasant for us. The rest of the service was great, and I will continue to recommend Five Napkin to friends."
