Diner Reviews
  • "We had the sirloin -- cooked medium rare, tender, juicy, very tasty. The honey butter was delicious on the crisp, warm bread. Vegetables were cooked just right. Our waitress was so attentive which made us feel special."

  • "Nice experience as we (husband and wife) don't get out much. The service was great - attentive but not overbearing. In the past a pasta dish was in the menu. Please bring it back."

  • "Our food took a long time to get served. The steak was dry. We had a young one with us and they got served last which made them very unhappy."

  • "Our waitress was wonderful, nice & on top of things. I am not sure who it was standing around, either the owner or manager but it was odd. He just stood there, A LOT. He walked around from time to time but it was a little uncomfortable to be honest, I have never seen a manager/owner hover or just stand there like this. The food was good, the menu was a bit different from what was online and so that changed our ordering a little. Not sure if we will return anytime soon just because it wasn't as comfortable as it has been in the past. Also, the seat backs in our booth were really uncomfortable, it felt like on my seat and my son said the same, as if we were leaning forward a bit. This was awkward and not ideal for how much this place charges."

  • "Have been there twice. the first time the two of us had a nice big booth table. The food was very good, and the service was great. Our second time, April 1st, we were seated at one of the two person booths, I felt cramped, and unappreciated, this was compounded be the fact that we sat there for over 5 minutes without a drink order or hello. Once we made the drink orders, it was a long wait for them to come. Crazy how our first experience was so awesome, and our second one, not so much. I actually think that we had the same server both times, so that should not have been it. I think those little booths suck (at least the one we were in) and know that I will never go back and sit in one of them."

  • "We went to the Chop House on Mar 25. We are not beef eaters. We have been at the Chop House frequently over the last 7 years. In the last 30 days we have been there twice, and for non-beef eaters it has changed (not for the better). I ordered from the menu "scallops and julienned vegetables". I received scallops, 3 pieces of sautéed kale, and 1/2 plate of mashed potatoes. When I brought the discrepancy up, they offered to bring a side dish of asparagus for an additional charge; and stated they do not do julienne vegetables anymore (even thought the menu states differently). The scallops were average, at best. We have concluded that their niche is now steak and large amounts of potatoes. We will go other places."

  • "We've been going to the Chop House since it opened several years ago. The quality and dinning experience was top notch. I can't say that any more. We've been twice recently and see big changes, don't if it's new ownership or new chefs but the food quality and presentation has really fallen short. The shrimp cocktail is four very small shrimp, use to be jumbo beautiful shrimp. But the price remained the same. The Tuna is awful some of the worst I have had. It's no longer a high end restruant but just average, you could get the small quality at a chain. Truly disappointed!"

  • "The Chop house never disappoints. My wife and I love coming to the restaurant for special occasions because you guys make it really nice. The wait staff always has a great attitude and makes you feel at home. The ambience is comfortable and I liked being able to make reservations online."

  • "We ordered steaks again this visit, vice Jumbo Crab Cakes and Peach-Poblano Pork Tenderloins which we had on our last visit. 4th Street Chophouse is an excellent steakhouse and we will continue to order steaks rather than other items on the menu. We celebrated a birthday; 4th Street made it a memorable occasion with excellent food, wine and service."

  • "SECOND SUBMISSION FOR THIS VISIT TO 4TH STREET CHOPHOUSE (I will resubmit again if this isn't posted on OpenTable): 4th St. is not a seafood restaurant and their take on "Crab Cakes" leaves a lot to be desired, like including crab for instance. Between the seasonings, method of cooking, and fillers, the crab cakes could have been made with just about anything. As for "Jumbo", I'd hate to see what they would term "normal size". 4th St. is a steak restaurant, and a very good one, it should stick to steaks; I will in the future. The other person in our party had the Peach-Poblano Pork Tenderloin. It was tasty, but cooked medium rare; not the way to cook pork."

  • "We were greeted by our outstanding waitress Montana. We began with cocktails and the cheesed board. Followed by wedge salads and steaks. We ended with the creme brulee and coffee. The whole meal, service and experience was outstanding. We all enjoyed the ambiance. A lovely "grownup" special occasion restaurant with a relaxed feel. One of my favorites. We will definitely be back."

  • "The service and ambience were excellent. We had appetizers , main course and desert. The only complaint I have was the mashed potatoes were not very good. Everything else was excellent. That is the only reason I knocked a star off the food rating."

  • "We have probably gone to the 4th St 40 times in the last 6 years. Generally we find it a very good experience. This last dinner 2 of my companions had the halibut and pork tenderloin. They were completely to their satisfaction. I ordered the blackened tuna rare (I have done this many times in the past), This time it was medium and tasted old. It was not a good meal. We are noticing many restaurants increasing the amount of starchy foods as accessories to the main item, as opposed to vegetables. This is probably due to cost pressures. We prefer to have veggies and not starchy white potatoes or rice. It appears we are not in the majority on this wish list; but hope that healthier eating habits will change that."

  • "I've been to this establishment on numerous occasions, normally for a special occasion and this place has always WOWed me, except for the night of 2/21/14, The only thing not missing a beat was the service. The drinks coming out of the bar were slow, The food was a little off, didn't have the flavors it should have and in one case wrong. The problem was handled quickly but again when I am spending over a hundred dollars for a meal for two I would expect everything to be right or at least some form of complimentary item or discount added. Overall a good time was still had and the food was different, might have to try it again just to make sure it was a bad night."

  • "Great service and a really good cut of Colorado beef cooked just the way you like it. Like the name implies, the Chop House, it's a great place for a steak. If you're after seafood I would choose another spot, but if you are looking for a nice steak I definitely recommend it."

  • "This is a great place for a special meal. The Blue Cheese Filet is one of the best steaks you can find. It was cooked to perfection and the Meiomi wine that the waitress suggested was excellent. The Crème Brulee as a shared desert finished the evening off nicely."

  • "Food was good, but the service was slow and neglectful. On top of that the price was pretty high for this area. Only worth it for a special occasion."

  • "This is one of our favorite spots for a special dinner. The food is great and although we had to wait 45 minutes past our 8:30 reservation time (which is understandable on Valentines Day) the experience was great."

  • "My date and I walked into the Chop House and were greeted by a multitude of things. Beautiful, warm, inviting atmosphere, cheerful patrons and staff and amazing scents coming from the kitchen. The food was served very quickly and it was very good."

  • "We were at 4th Street for Valentine's Day and dined with another couple, as is our tradition. However, we were disappointed this time. Our reservation was for 6:00 p.m., so fairly early in the evening. One of our group ordered rice with their entree and the waitress came back and said they were out of rice. That was a shock. The service was quite slow, when comparing to the many other times we've dined at 4th Street, including the many Valentine's Day dinners we have had there. Then we wanted to order creme brulee' for dessert and they were out of that. Again, a shock since we felt that we were fairly early diners. I left feeling not nearly as satisfied with the restaurant as I usually am. I was disappointed."

  • "The 4th St. Chop House is a wonderful local restaurant with great varied menu. We love the steaks and the creme brûlée is fantastic. Its classy retro atmosphere gives it that special feel for adults who want a romantic night out. We enjoy it two or three times a year, saving it for birthdays, anniversaries, and Christmas. The service is outstanding and friendly, making us feel pampered. Best in Loveland for upscale eating."

  • "The actual menu and wine serving for this Sunday dinner (our alternative for Valentine's Day) was not as was posted on their website. Our server was great and so were our meals although my choice was limited to one item. We asked for different seating from what was initially proposed as there was a 10 person group that was as loud as a chicken coop with a fox loose on the inside. We probably ought to have asked to be seated at the far end of the room. They were so noisy that we promptly left without getting dessert. My wife noted to me that we were in and out in less time than our previous visits."

  • "First time we ate at the 4th Street Chophouse as our Valentine date night. I liked the location - secluded. We ordered the mussels. The sauce was good, but the mussels themselves lacked taste. The steak was good for me. My husband said his was OK, but not cooked to Medium. The drinks were a little expensive, but it was date night. The $ on the menu were not up-to-date and neither was the Gluten free menu; very little selection to choose from. If you want a nice and expensive date night - this is the place for you!"

  • "My family and I have been dining at the 4th St. Chophouse for 12 years now and I believe that we actually were there the same week the restaurant opened 12 years ago. My family and I are from Chicago and are very used to the very unique dining experience you get from the historic Chicago Chophouse. We absolutely love the steaks here as well as the "Maytag" Blue Cheese crumbles that are used on them. Great food and service. Only Chophouse like it on Northern Colorado."

  • "My wife and I ate a Valentine's dinner here and were pleasantly surpised. We come from a larger metropolitan area and have struggled to find a good upscale steak house in Northern Colorado. We have tried all of the steak houses in Fort Collins and most of them have been "Ok" at best. 4th Street Chophouse had good service and tasty food. Definitely the best steaks we've had in Northern Colorado. The atmosphere allows for dressing up more than Colorado's typical t-shirt and sandals crowd. There was a moderate noise level while we were there but you could still hold a conversation in normal voices. Overall an excellent experience."

  • "First time at the Chophouse for me; second time for my wife. My top sirloin was not extremely tender (it was medium rare, like I requested it), but very tasty with the bleu cheese treatment. The mushroom risotto was quite good. My wife had their lamb (rare as requested) and thought it was very, very good. The Valentine's Special was a package of two glasses of wine, two delicious crab cakes, and one large cheesecake for two for $25. My wife took both glasses of wine while I got an additional bloody mary for myself - it was spicy and among the best I've had in years in Colorado. The ambience was appropriate; while we were among others we didn't feel that the place was crowded such that we all were sharing each others' experiences."

  • "Very pleased we chose 4th St. Chophouse! Randomly decided to eat there on a Sunday night and it worked out great. Free bottle of wine on Sundays and it was a tasty merlot. The ambience was perfect; a very nicely redone, brick walled interior, reminded me of what it would've looked like in the 40s or 50s. Service was great, very friendly staff and the food was very good. Maybe a bit on the pricey side but I don't mind when it's my hometown that I'm helping support. I chose the pork with mango salsa and it was top shelf! Garlic mashers and a spinach salad with the free wine; I'll say it was one of the finest meals I've had in months! Take someone special and enjoy, you won't regret it."

  • "We went out for a date night on Saturday. Our server did an excellent job and my wife and I both enjoyed our wine special of the night. We had the surf and turf. Mine was the horseradish crusted fillet and the king crab leg. My wife had the bleu cheese fillet and king crab leg. We started our evening with the crabcakes which were excellent and finished the night with an very well done creme brulee. Always a pleasure to eat at the Chophouse."
