Diner Reviews
  • "Great food, comfortable atmosphere. Efficient, personable, knowledgeable server (Nicholas). I brought a mixed crowd and everyone left satisfied!"

  • "great food and service. Close to theatre district but not in Times Square, perfect"

  • "Hey! we had an exceptional brunch on Sunday the 13th. Carlos at the door was top notch with helping to accommodate our adjustment in time. Our waiter was energetic knowledgeable funny and all of this while training Jack or Jake. Wish i could remember waiter's name because he certainly deserves a shout out. He had ultra cool glasses! Was perfect location for us...daughter is with 2nd City on cruise ship and she has a short window to get off the ship, dine with her family, and then get back on to sail away again. Just a short walk from pier 88! We are definitely returning and in fact I just booked us for mothers day! Thank you for the perfect brunch."

  • "We missed our reservation due to traffic, and although the restaurant was quite busy, the host was very accommodating and was able to sit us within 5-10 minutes of our arrival. Our waiter was very attentive and the food was delicious. It was a nice pre- theater brunch. Will definitely return!"

  • "Between the sunny atmosphere, the lovely staff and the food; it was a great experience."

  • "Overall we had a good time. I recommend the fennel salad, salmon, filet mignon, chicken, apple pie and peanut butter mousse. A few notes however- there are limited offerings for the more conservative eater and true vegetarians. Also we were somewhat disappointed by the dessert choices. The menu seems to have a southern bent but this was lacking in the desserts. A lemon chess pie or coconut cake would have been welcome."

  • "Their location is pretty far West, but they have excellent, creative American food. The space is fairly small, but there are roses on the tables, and friendly servers."

  • "I had been to this restaurant before but wanted my husband to experience 44 and X. It was wonderful and delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the New York area."

  • "We had a wonderful time celebrating at 44 & X. The service was excellent; very attentive. The food was great! Amazing dining experience."

  • "After waiting for 45 Minutes past our reservation we finally got a table...but we weren't even offered a drink or so while waiting. Also once seated you would expect a little excuse...but nothing. Food was good, the waiter friendly - but the 45 Minutes wait really ruined our brunch since one of our friends had to leave before we got our food"

  • "Great food....I tried the fried chicken (a house specialty), other diners had steak and fish....all wonderful. Service was impecable...can't wait for my next trip to NYC so I can go again!!!!"

  • "Though I live close by, this was my first time at 44 & X, and I really liked it! The food was very fresh and creatively prepared, the wine was delicious, and our waiter was friendly and efficient, without being intrusive. It's a little pricey for my budget, but I would go back once in a while."

  • "There were six in our group for Brunch before the theater. The food and service were spot on. The selection for brunch appealed to everyone in our group. I had the waffles with fruit, which was a beautiful plate with a puddle of syrup with three segments of Belgian Waffle covered with slices of banana and strawberries. It was the perfect size portion for brunch. The restaurant filled quickly and as you would expect in NYC, the tables are close together, but that turned out to be an advantage when another patron offered suggestions for activities to fill the time before the show started. As a side note, the bathroom is absolutely beautiful and the flower arrangements are gorgeous."

  • "We visit NYC a couple of times a year and always make a point to go to 44X. For us it is a pre-theatre dinner and wait staff is very good at keeping to our schedule. Love the menu and everything is delicious. The iceberg lettuce wedge salad was great - a tangy but not too heavy dressing. The seafood risotto was outstanding! We shared a dessert - the peanut butter mousse. Fabulous! Attentive staff and cool vibe ambience."

  • "This place does a great job of ensuring you are comfortable and the food is to your palette. Food is extremely good."

  • "Fist time there and was very impressed with food and service. Management was very adept and cordial at handling a large number of people lined up to get in. Waiting time was minimal considering the number of people there."

  • "Whether you're in the mood for simple, sweet or savory, 44 & X has it all. Great food. We had Crab Cakes Benedict and Huevos Rancheros, and they were both excellent. Tasty cocktails and Bloody Marys also!"

  • "The first time I ate here with a friend who brought me to this restaurant because they love it. I had a wonderful experience and decided to return. Everything went wrong, the service was just fair when I had a fantastic waiter the time before. The food was terrible, my salad was horrible and my pork was cooked to death. The first time I was here my friend ordered the pork as it is her favorite dish at 44 & X and it was fantastic. I am not sure what happened in the kitchen but whomever cooked my food screwed up big time."

  • "This is my fifth time to the restaurant, as usual, excellent service and food. I had the turkey meatloaf which was tender juicy and amazing. The Caesar salad was perfectly dressed. Soo yummy!"

  • "I've been here a couple of times for brunch, had a good time each time. This time i had the french toast. Rather good!"

  • "This was our 5th time to enjoy 44&X! This was probably even better than last time which I did not think was possible. An exceptional stuffed pork chop with Jerusalem artichokes and many other great items was a special. The Halibut was exceptional. Rosemary chicken, turkey meatloaf, seared ahi tuna were all extremely well prepared and equally well presented by our server who coincidentally was from Oklahoma City, as are we. Our group of 6 left full, satisfied and wanting to come back next time. Do yourself a favor, give it a try!"

  • "Food and service are very good -- noise level is out of control!"

  • "Food was superb, short ribs with basil mash (cool esp. for St. P weekend), great crab cake, Mahi with scallop-lobster risotto, good wine selection. Place can get really loud, two of us couldn't hear one another when they were fully occupied. Doubt they could fit another table in, makes for awkward transit for waiter and us on departure. But worth it for the great food..."

  • "We were looking for a last minute Sunday brunch spot, and a little online research pointed me to this spot. Great find. The food is very good, well-presented, and tasty. We had herb scrambled eggs with Vermont cheddar grits and sweet sausage as one dish, and a western omelette as the other. Twice as much food as we could eat, but both scrumptious. The mini muffins they start you off with are also really good, and addictive. The wine and drink lists are good as well. The Bloody Maria was stellar. The space is bright and cheery, and service is impeccable. The only nit is the way you are cramped in--but that is not enough to dissuade me from strongly recommending this spot."

  • "Great spot for dining before or after theatre on 42nd Street. There is an extensive menu and the food is quite good. The portions of our appetizer and entrees were so enormous that they both could have been shared."

  • "All you have to do is call!-- Just like Carole King sings in "Beautiful." We love 44+X. We've had brunch there many times-- this was our first dinner experience -- and you did not disappoint!. We'll be back!"

  • "my second time dining here...I love the location and the food is tasty.....lets see if the third time is a charm!"
    Dined on 3/10/2014
  • "This is my third visit to 44 X 10 and my first time for brunch. The food, as always, is delicious. However, because it was so crowded and the place was filling up with diners waiting for tables we felt rushed. I had the poached eggs with spinach My daughter had the crab cakes and my my niece had the hamburger. We enjoyed everything. Great Bloody Mary's Love that they're served with both celery and olives!"

  • "The food is very good but the noise level is outrageous!"

  • "there were problems with the rack of lamb, cold and undercooked, but my friends fish was outstanding."

  • "Found it a little odd only 3 tables busy and they gave us a small 2 crammed in a corner."

  • "The food and service are always excellent at this cozy place."
    Dined on 2/27/2014
  • "I love this little gem of a restaurant. It was my second time here. We had the lobster taco and the crab cake special to start. The short ribs with basil mashed potatoes was delicious. I don't normally like mashed potatoes, but these green mashed were fabulous! The short ribs were amazing - a wonderful crust on the outside with melt in your mouth meat on the inside. The peanut butter tart and dark chocolate cake ended it all on a high note."

  • "The reason I would not recommend this to a friend is that I'd recommend 44 1/2 over 44 & X. I've been there a few times and really liked it, so I wanted to try this place. The food is as good, but the décor is a bit "fancier" and so are the prices. I also felt that the hostess was not very welcoming, whereas my experience at 44 1/2 has always been positive. So, save a few bucks and go 1/2 a block up 10th."

  • "Exactly what we are looking for in Time Square. Good place, good food and good service. I like the colonial black and white feel of the place and the staffs were all friendly and attentive. This is my second time here and i will definitely come back again!"
