A most pleasant evening at an excellent restaurant. The "pastrami" beef salad and beet soup appetizers were wonderful. The vegetarian entree had great flavors. The wagyu strip steak was well cooked with delicious vegetables accompanying it and a great chimi churi sauce. The chef has a great touch with vegetables and does not skimp on them, enhancing the meal with wonderful rich flavors. The desserts were beautiful and most enjoyable. Beautiful balance in flavors, textures, and appearance.

Pleasantly surprised. My dad and I went here for brunch and, while the portions were small, found that we were satisfied. My lobster-crab roll was delicious, though the bacon slightly overpowered everything else on the sandwich (despite the great flavor it added). My dad's gnocchi carbonara was fantastic - the sauce, so creamy and delicious. Very affordable too. Can't wait to try their prix fixe dinner.

We were visiting our son in Madison over Easter weekend and thought we should make a reservation for Easter Brunch. I opened the Open Table app, read the reviews for 43 North and made the reservation. We were pleasantly surprised! Our table was ready upon arrival, the wait staff was excellent, and most of all the food was fantastic! Flavorful and just the right portion size. We would definitely go again on our next visit.

My boyfriend and I had a very nice dinner here. It was quiet when we went, but we had dinner at 6:00. There were more people rolling in when we left at 7:45. The food was good. A little pricy for what it was maybe. They have a decent wine list. We had a very nice syrah with our meal. I would definitely recommend to my friends.

Lobster bisque was thick and spiked with a nice amount of lobster meat. Lobster crackling was tasty but too big to eat in one piece and too tough to cut. Beet soup was thicker than expected and had a delightfully rich flavor. Game hen was very tender and flavorful; the mustard sauce was quite good. The duck was tender, but the sauce a bit one-dimensional and the root vegetables uninspired.
Wine list: many reasonable ($50) options. Dupond Pinot Noir is a good value.
Restaurant had lots of gluten free options, as their sauces tend to be thickened by reduction, not flour.
Service: very efficient and friendly, but it was a quiet Monday night.
Overall, Excellent for Madison; Very Good overall.

I took my BF, mother and very picky father here for brunch on Sunday, and it was a really good choice. Service was excellent - fun and efficient waiter who was very attentive without being overbearing. Nice atmosphere, small outdoor dining area. Food was great all across the board, though I was REALLY bummed they didn't have the lox that day (said the shipment never came in) because that's why I took my father there. Nevertheless, my mushroom benedict was delicious, and the others enjoyed the lobster crab roll, corned pork/potato hash, and the daily pork and ratatouille special (for picky dad, who was very pleased). We also enjoyed fresh mimosas, spicy bloody marys, and a ginger beer/lemon combo that the waiter recommended. I'd go back!

The service was excellent and perfect timing. We had the bean and barley soup, which was delicious. Salad was also yummy. The pork and the game hen entrees were top notch! Overall, an excellent experience. We will return!

While the waiter was friendly, attentive and helpful, the food was disappointing. We have enjoyed both Muramoto restaurants and understood 43 North was under the same management. The braised pork we had was acceptable but a bit fatty and not very flavorful. The brownie dessert was dry and not very good. It is hard to do a poor job on brownies but they managed to. Perhaps they are just having problems getting started but we will need to hear some consistently good reviews before we try 43 North again.
