  • "I invited 7 of my high school students to celebrate this year's 3 national and international (Beijing) debating competition wins. This was a unique experience for them. The food was excellent, tapas to desserts. We ordered almost everything on the menu and the clean plates told the story. A pleasure in every way...my thank you to the chefs, the staff and the scholars who worked to get here."

  • "42 has breathtaking views from both the dining area and the bar. It is the one chosen by friends and colleagues on special occasions. The bar is cool, the drinks ALWAYS great and the bartenders offer excellent service always with a smile. The dining area..special! The staff has always rendered great service and aim to please. The food...nice presentation and then I always say to myself, how can they get away with this? over and over? My friend and I looked at each other puzzled, while the non- foodies enjoyed their meal and one more time I walked away paying for an expensive meal (it was a special occasion I organized and paid for) and feeling hungry and dissatisfied."

  • "The waitress we had said she could not give us bread for the table but she soon after gave a basket of breadsticks to the table right next to us when they asked. This kind of blew my mind. She also didnt tell us the specials for the day but she did for all other tables she was waiting. i thought this was extremely unfair and wrong of her. This is the only bad experience i have had here. What a poor, unfair waitress. Great food though."

  • "The view from the restaurant is beautiful. We arrived before sundown and we watched as a rainstorm approached. We then saw 5 rainbows in the next hour! Really spectacular! The food, while nicely presented, was just mediocre. My husband and our friend had halibut which they said was bland. I had duck on a bed of quinoa. The duck was tasty but the quinoa was a bit undercooked and was extremely crunchy. The highlight of the meal was the dessert - the mini-donuts with vanilla pastry cream - they were very fresh an delicious. The service was very good. With a restaurant this pricey, we expected the food to be better. I would recommend it for drinks and tapas, but not for dinner."

  • "The main selling point of 42 is of course the view. And oh what a view it has. You can see the Hudson river and miles and miles of Westchester county. The food was good but nothing to rave about that you can't get anywhere else and the service was on point. Highly recommend coming here at least once for the views for that special occasion. There is a bar as well and I'm sure its very popular during the evening hours when all the lights come up in valley."

  • "Dined here for the first time this past Mother's Day. This was the 1st Mother's Day in several years I had off to be able to take my mother out. * I am in the F&B / Culinary Industry myself. From the moment we stepped off the elevator to the end, I had no problems with service. My Server, Eddie was on point and attentive. Cuisine wise, no issues. Hot food was hot when needed and Cold when needed. Some plating could have been better. Bread bowl should have been warmed before serving. Overall, well done! I loved the space. Great Bar Area! I plan on definitely coming back and maybe hosting a dinner one night. "

  • "We made a reservation for a window seat, which they said they did not have available when we got there. We were told the only window tables available were tables of 4 and they could not seat 2 at these tables. While we were there, 2 separate groups of 2 were seated at the tables for 4. I order the 24 oz rib eye which contained approx. 21 oz of fat. Once our entrée was served, we never saw our waiter again until after we were finished eating. I told the waiter how bad the steak was and instead of taking it off my bill they gave me an after dinner cordial. This did not make up for the overall experience and I would not go back. "

  • "Used a groupon and went on a weeknight. Vies from the top of the Ritz in this restaurant are beautiful, seeing all the way over the city to the water. Did not feel like we were sitting on too of other tables/diners which can sometimes be the case at other restaurants. Food was sooo delicious! We got the fried calamari and 1/2 dozen oysters to start. My husband got the steak special and I got the halibut for entree. I can't say enough about both. I even asked the chef for the recipe for the wild mushroom sauce the steak was set in! We both got dessert which was also very tasty..... I'll without a doubt be back!!"

  • "All my reviews are based on 5:30 pm weekday dinner. We were seated facing a large windows with beautiful view, and got all attention from the waiter. other than 2 tables , there were nobody around, very quiet. The food coming in time and tasteful. The waiter recommanded some off menu items also tasted wonderful but with small size / price. When we left around 7:00pm, the place is getting more crowded, some coming for the bar, so I am not sure if the service will remain the same."

  • "The view was as impressive as we expected it to be. The menu was varied and interesting, and the food was terrific. We had the fried calamari/shrimp app and the sliders, as well. We had the tortellini and the cavatelli pasta entrees and then the chocolate peanut butter cake. Everything was memorable and it will be hard to order something different when we return. The service was fine, nothing special, nothing to complain about either. The atmosphere in the upstairs room of the restaurant was very pretty, loved the birch pillars lit with votives. The bar, where we stopped by first to have a pre-dinner drink, does have a beautiful view, but the trendy and cheap looking decor really spoiled the atmosphere. "

  • "The food here is superb. The wait staff is generally attentive. But some aspects of the dining experience were uneven. I ate here with my 13-year-old daughter. She has a peanut allergy, and the waiter helpfully pointed out which dishes had peanuts and which ones did not. On the minus side, we were seated at the table closest to the entrance hall even though I had made the reservations 4 days in advance and there were plenty of empty tables in better parts of the restaurant. The waiter never told us the specials of the day, but after we were served, he recited the specials to a couple seated nearby. I paid in cash and left a 20% tip, but I felt as if we'd been treated like second-class citizens. "

  • "The view is good and the appetizers and Kale salad were good except for one of our party's salad ordered as a main with grilled chicken, which came with 2 large chicken breasts grilled but not in the salad. Not good., and very poor presentation main course of halibut was very small and very bland. sauce added very little to it and at 33 dollars very overprice for that quality. Desert was good but DJ came on and was very loud in the dining area such that we had to move our table bc we were literally yelling to hear. All in all the only time to go back is restaurant week"
