A winding slate path through overhanging vines and tropical foliage leads to the historic 1840 Carriage house. Slowly spinning ceiling fans stir the aromas of French-New Orleans accented cooking and fresh seafood and steaks grilling over mesquite. Envision yourself in New Orleans or Key West. Dining in the canopied garden, or on the candlelit veranda, the dream continues with the exotic cuisine of internationally acclaimed Chef Henry Sing Cheng, whose original creations include local-caught tuna, swordfish and mahi-mahi in fabulous sauces, elaborate entrees of local shellfish & lobster, and the justly famous smoked, grilled and blackened steaks and prime rib. It seems like they've made an effort to freshen the menu this year and we really enjoyed our dinner. As usual, the service was excellent. The only continuing criticism is that the prices are a bit steep even for Cape May."

  • "This restaurant is a wonderful place to go when you expect nothing but the best! The service is excellent the food is a culinary experience and the atmosphere is relaxed. The tables are small and a bit squished together but its because they want to serve as many eager guests as possible with out having to turn people away. Its worth the trip to Cape May! Just remember you need a reservation which they honor on time....Kudos!"

  • "We always visit 410 Bank Street on vacation. The food is amazing and everything is fresh and beautifully presented. They always have lots if dinner specials added to the menu. Our lobster bisque and porcini mushroom soups were incredible. My salmon special was almost too pretty to eat. Desserts are also great--we went with a white chocolate cake with graham crust and berries. My only complaint is that the only wines are local as it is BYOB. Sorry, but the wines don't do the good justice. I hope that they will get a grown up wine list or get a liquor license!"

  • "Eat here every time we're in Cape May (3 or 4 times a year) except off season when they're not open, and have to say this was our worst dinner ever. Most food was very good but my entree, Mahi Mahi, was way too strongly flavored with the vanilla rum sauce. My wife tasted it and agreed. I almost got the yellow fin tuna - wish I had!"

  • "Another great meal and the best service! We have dined here many times and the service and food are always wonderful. We recently discovered our 22 yr old is allergic to wheat, dairy, and corn. Our extremely knowledgeable server was able to suggest a number of dishes that could accommodate her restrictions. Not only that but they were able to come up with a sauce that worked for her. She was so happy to have a great meal with a sauce that she could eat as well! Can't say enough about the staff and the food here other than you really have to go! One of Cape May's best."

  • "We have gone to 410 Bank Street every year for the past 11 years, and the quality of the food is consistently excellent. The Crawfish Bisque and the Oyster Stew never disappoint, although the portion has shrunken while the price has increased. The wait staff however, has been hit or miss. Our waiter at this last foray gave me the feeling that waiting on us was a chore. Also, the noise level was off the charts! While I appreciate the fact that there is ample seating, the flip side is noise level that prohibits conversation and makes for an unpleasant dining experience."

  • "We made a reservation for the last night of our vacation with our family. Food was good but very rich, lots of creamy sauces. Waitress was well Informed about food options and ingredients . My daughter was dairy and gluten free and they were very accommoding. Bill was $450 for 6! Very, very pricey! Overall, I would go back for a special occasion !"

The wait staff was attentive but not overly so. One note - the only alcohol 410 serves are Cape May wines but you may bring your own. A totally delightful and memorable experience."

  • "Had a lovely date night with my husband. Food was great and festive presentation. I had the berry soup that came out looking like a ying/yang sign. My main course was macadamia nut encrusted mahi mahi which was perfectly cooked and came with a Mai Tai - yum. For dessert, key lime pie. Would recommend to anyone looking to dine in Cape May."

  • "Reserved a table for four and we were seated promptly. Ice buckets were immediately brought out for our wine and beer as it's BYOB. Our server did an outstanding job explaining the menu and specials for the evening. We had to huge portions of the prime rib that were cooked spot on. The 410 strip steak was cooked perfect as well although the sauce is a little on the sweet side. For appetizers we had the blackened sea scallops which were the best scallops I ever had, the Maco shark in the fruit sauce/salsa and the asparagus which were all delicious. I would highly recommend 410 Bank if you have never been and up in the air on a nice dinner spot to try."

  • "I have eaten at Bank Street in the past and had some hit or misses, but this latest excursion was just plain disappointing. I felt like the chef is trying to overcompensate for a lack of skill in putting "fancy sauces" on everything. Sometimes it is better to just cook food well than to have it swimming in something that does not enhance the taste and only detracts. Scallops are delicious seared with butter salt and pepper, you don't need to add all kinds of ingredients and a slick name to make it taste good. Perhaps I would have enjoyed the meal more if I had not dined the previous evening at Peter Shields Inn. Nah, don't think so. . . The only positive was the staff. Sorry."

  • "Recently ate a 410 Bank Street. I had not been here for a few years and was disappointed. The food was good but not up to par. Our appetizers appeared literally 2 minutes after we ordered them. The entrees came out a few minutes after we finished our appetizers. I had the Voodoo Shrimp which is there signature dish. The shrimp were cold and the sauce was not spicy at all. We felt as if we were being rushed and that they had pre cooked the food. The following night we ate at Black Duck on Sun Set and the food and service were top notch. Much better then 410."

  • "We went to dinner here as part of a celebration for my boyfriend's birthday and I was a little disappointed in the overall experience. The restaurant was packed and we were seated late. Even though, the food was decent and came fairly quickly, the waiter was hard of hearing and as a result wasn't very attentive. Lastly, I noted in my open table reservation that I wanted the restaurant to acknowledge my boyfriend's birthday and this detail was missed and/or forgotten. Given the prices at this venue I expected more; especially since I had none of these types of issues the night before at another high end venue in Cape May."

  • "Just when you think the food couldn't get better at 410, it does. We had another unbelievable experience at 410. My wife and I had the lobster, it was fantastic as it always is. My son had the prime rib. Unbelievable cut, huge portion, done to perfection. My daughter had the 410 steak. Tender, tasty, but the sauce is so tasty, you can eat it like a soup! Lobster bisque is an all-time favorite of ours. I could brag about their appetizers and desserts but what else can I say. All of them are great. Yes, the food is pricy, but when you can count on the quality, time after time, the prices are justifiable. Our only regret was not to book 410 the last night of our stay. So we ended up going 2 nights in a row. NO REGRETS! Kitchen staff++++"

  • "Our meal was atrocious over cooked and undercooked (frozen prawn on my husband's plate and over cooked pork chop on mine. They did take his dish off but the bill was still $100. Appetizer of mushrooms looked and tasted like stew on my plate. Will not return or recommend. Disappointed as I don't like to pay for food I don't like. We aren't picky eaters either......"

  • "We enjoyed the snapper, a rib eye steak special and the cat fish which the preparation has changed from previous year's blackened preparation. However, the chef blackened the cat fish which was how the fish was previously prepared. I was so pleased that the waiter asked the chef and he was gracious to do it. Bread pudding is always a favorite."

  • "Had the pleasure of dining here Saturday with my husband for our 18 yr anniversary. It was definitely the right choice. Blackened scallop appetizer was to die for. The crap was succulent and perfectly complimented. For dinner I had the butter fish special. It was the best fish dish I ever had! And I eat fish everywhere and often. My husband had the special pork roast over apple reduction. We were in heaven. Didn't think it could get any better but out came the chocolate pecan pie cheesecake concoction that had my head spinning. Key line wasn't to shabby either. Our waiter Bill made the evening extra special with his attentive service, knowledge of each dish and friendly down to earth conversation. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "In spite of some complaining about this and that on various website reviews, 410 Bank Street still turned out to be an enjoyable eating experience in a town full of restaurants with pretensions to cuisine and prices almost as high. I thoroughly enjoyed the Bird in a Garden starter (grilled quail with salad). My fellow diner had grilled Mako shark medallions that were delicious. We both enjoyed our swordfish main courses, one a special and one from the regular menu. Both were about the same price, around $35.00. Dinner with one dessert (profiteroles) and two coffees came in around $150 with the tip: the same as one non-weekend night in our Cape May b&b. I look forward to another visit the next time we are in Cape May."
