Located in the historic, spacious, open lobby of the Hilton St. Louis Downtown at the Arch, our Modern American Bistro takes advantage of our centralized location within downtown.

An ideal location for a business lunch, cocktail or if you are celebrating a special occasion, our newly renovated bistro offers a menu with fresh local ingredients in addition to St. Louis inspired dishes. Our Modern American Bistro offers an extensive wine list, creative specialty cocktails and local craft beers.

Our new Private Dining Space offers groups up to 15 people a semi-private area for a breakfast meeting, lunch or reception.

  • "the ribs were tough and chewy. The beet salad has so few beets, I had to ask for more. Restaurant described its dress policy as business casual, yet the other party was dressed in Ts and shorts. Restaurant was in the lobby of the Hilton Hotel. The best part was the proximity to the Arch and discounted parking."

  • "The food at 400 Olive was top notch. There were four of us and we each had something different - steak, chicken, fried spinach salad, meatballs. Each meal was prepared perfectly and delivered timely. The server was friendly and attentive. We could not have asked for anything different. However, we were the only people in the restaurant the entire time we were there, which was very disconcerting when we first walked in. We felt like it was a normal dinner hour (6:30p), so were very surprised no one else ever came in. We have nothing but compliments for the chef and the staff."

  • "We went to 400 Olive thinking is was going to be typical hotel food. The chicken I had was delicious and the pasta my boyfriend had was fantastic! Our server, Nathan, was very good and the manager, Chris was also very friendly and went out of his way to see that everything was good. I would highly recommend this restaurant. They are re-doing it and we will be back in May!"

  • "The weather was extremely cold and the valet parking was full. I was forced to drop my date off at the front door while I drove around for ten minutes or more to search for parking. My date and I had seating in the back corner of the restaurant and had to request to be moved. The restaurant was serving dinner from a Valentine’s Day Menu and refused to deviate from the menu to accommodate my date’s food allergies. The bar was still serving food from the regular menu however because we sat in the restaurant we were unable to access the menu. We asked to speak to the chef but after twenty minutes of waiting, we chose to go to another restaurant."

  • "While there was free valet parking, I had to go find the valet for him to take my car. Bad start. Then, even though we had reservations, there was nobody at the hostess desk. We went into the restaurant and there was absolutely no staff. Nobody was in the restaurant ataall. We walked around hoping some hotel staff might say something or a restaurant staff night show up. after 5 minutes, we tried going to the bar area. While there were people there, nobody even said hello. After 10 minutes of trying to get someone's attention, we decided to leave. This was my husband's birthday dinner so we were very disappointed. We ended up at a great restaurant down the street but I will be spreading the bad opinion about this restaurant."

  • "It's not really even a restaurant. Just a few tables in the hotel lobby. It as empty on a busy Friday night with thousands of people in town for some major events. What a disappointment."

  • "Worst crab cake I ever ate. Tuna flavoring was terrible too. Shrimp appetizer would have been better heated. Tortilla soup was only part of meal we enjoyed. Service was painfully slow and we were the only patrons. Overpriced - save your money and don't go!"

  • "This place was misrepresented for Sundays. I booked a table at the restaurant for our anniversary and when we arrived, was told the restaurant isn't open on Sunday night. We sat at the bar. Not romantic and couldn't wait to just get out of there."

  • "This is definitely a restaurant in a hotel lobby. Don't go for the ambience or the outstanding service. But DO go for the food. I had the best pork chop of my life and my boyfriend had an outstanding salmon. So if you want really good food at reasonable prices, check it out. If you're going for an overall dining experience, you could probably pass on this one."

  • "Food was very good. Our party of ten had wide variety of dishes. All were pleased. Our group was the only people dining on a Saturday night at 7pm. Laura did a great job of not hovering but engaging with our group. At times drinks were a little slow but otherwise everything was ok, just ok. I believe if the other people who were there to assist Laura and our table would have actually helped clear empty plates, gather drink orders, help deliver drinks and food, the overall experience would have been better."
