  • "A dinner at 40 Westt is consistently excellent. The ambience is perfect, the service is wonderful and the food is delicious. From the appetizer course right through to dessert, each plate is prepared perfectly as ordered and is excellent. All of our dinners were outstanding, the steaks and veal were tender, tasty and perfectly prepared. The Chilean sea bass melted in my mouth and was wonderful. We were stuffed but we somehow managed to eat desserts because like everything else that we were served, the chocolate soufflé was perfect. For celebrating special events, or when you want to make a regular evening, special...40 Westt is the perfect place, It exceeds our expectations consistently!"

  • "Fantastic service. I have a gluten allergy and noted it in opentable, but said nothing when I came in. The waiter was aware of it and brought it up right away and made sure everything I ordered was specially prepared. He gave us great insights in how to order the fish, discussed preparation and did the same for all the things we ordered with it. He recommended a particular steak and again recommended the best way to prepare it. Wonderful! The food was outstanding as was everything else. I can't say enough and we will definitely be going back."

  • "We enjoyed the restaurant, but it was overpriced for what you get. If you compare to the Keg you will get the same quality steak (it is a steakhouse) you will pay about 1/2 price. If budget isn't in your decision making when choosing a restaurant then try it out. I rather spend 200$ at the Keg in comparison to the 365$ this restaurant cost us!"

  • "Food was not warm, 2 pieces of meat, one was undercooked. Service was good, but too much staff standing around not doing anything. We dont need to be greeted by 5 women in black dresses. On a positive note, food came out fast and decor nice. Given the prices they charge, we should not be eating lukewarm food."

  • "It was my first time to your restaurant. A lot of people told me in advance that I shouldn't be expecting anything crazy other than the fact that your prices were overly priced. Your dishes were very good, your steak was delicious but your baked potato was horrible. It cost me that night $500 dinner for (4) and dessert and coffee wasn't even included. Music was very loud, when the band was playing we couldn't have a conversation. Would I come back again? No. Why? For the amount of money I spend I could have had the same menu at a Portovino's or Le Bifteque for 1/2 the price including dessert and coffee..."

  • "Food was amazing as usual, we shared the tomahawk for 2, but had to wait 30 min for our table, which was annoying and then we were seated in front of the chefs, where I kept getting my chair bumped by the waiters with no appologies, I'm 125lbs so I was annoyed with that, it happens but 4 times in a night, at least say excuse me! Would go back but I would be very specific on the reservation of where I wanted to sit."

  • "On our forth try....we finally caught the last Pompano of the evening. And this, one week after the mysterious death of close to one million fish of a Nevada reservoir. Sadly,you got the feeling they went fishing after you ordered it...very long wait, but good...accompanied by a perfectly chilled Meursault thanks to the cleaver ice bar behind the comptoir seating. Brant provides impeccable service explaining what was clearly a familiar clientele. Had i known, i would've ordered my fish when i reserved to guarantee my first choice. Would definitely return.."

  • "Great traditional NY style steak house in a suburban location in the mode of La Queue de Cheval, Ruth's Chris, Morton et all. I had a well poured and ample Martini. I love the substantial portions. The red snapper was outstanding...spinach, oysters and iceberg lettuce wedge were very good. Salad dressing was disappointing. The service was friendly, but not well timed. We booked dinner in the “jazz room”. Well the band was rockingly good, but far from a Jazz band appropriate to a dinner experience of this quality. So loud, people all over the restaurant were were forced to talk in each others ears to be heard. I thought they were going to move the tables and start the dance club."

I have gone for romantic reasons and for business. the food was always excellent. this time the filet mignon was good but good is not enough for the 40 West. Instead of being round and thick it was wider like a small steak with a good thickness. I ordered medium. when it served it was cold or not hot. I know how medium should be and it could have been warmer. It is still an excellent restaurant. we will see next time."

  • "Even though the restaurant is not set in the most romantic location (big parking lot) , you forget that once you enter the front doors. The decor and ambiance makes you feel like you're in a Grand hotel in NY city. The staff is very friendly and if you're looking for a great piece of juicy tender steak, this is the place. My husband and I shared the Tomahawk. Wow, this piece knocks you off your feet. Loved it!"

  • "My wife and I frequently eat steak, shared a Porterhouse Steak cooked medium with Shrimps. The Steak was char broiled on the outside and pink in the middle, one bite and the Steak was fatty and tuff as chewing leather. We were out with two other couples and didn't bother to return our steak. Another couple we know dined the same night sent back their steak twice in the same night."

Asked the hostess about it and she said she would have to find us another place in the main room if we wanted to move and there would be a wait. walked around and found many many open table. Didn't like the seats and it ruined the night."

  • "We had invited guests last Saturday night at the restaurant , one of them ordered a steak rare cooked & I ordered a porterhouse & specifically asked for just a little pink, they finally brought our plates & the porterhouse was rare & my guest's steak was pink...we brought it to the waiter's attention & some other man came to the table, looked at my guest's steak & claimed it looked rare to him?? Obviously if the client is calling you ovwer it is because he is not happy with what he sees ,so after all that he offered a free dessert but bottom line was that neither myself or my guest enjoyed what we had & at the price of their steaks I feel we should be able to enjoy what we had ordered.. I will definately not go back to the place ."

  • "My wife and I ordered the scallops as and an onion soup as appetizers. Both were filled with either brown sugar or molasses. They were so sweat that we could not finish them. Then I ordered a Porterhouse steak rare. The steak was medium-rare. One side of the bone the steak was very good, the other half was so chewy that I had to leave it. I had ordered fries to go with it, the fries were limp, soft, greasy and such a small portion (about 15). Usually in a steakhouse, they have those thin julienne crispy fries, which you can dip in the sauce that drips from the steak, which there was none by the way. And no vegetables to go with the meal. Big plate with just one steak in it and a little bowl of fries. I will not go back, that is for sure."

  • "Lunch menu is very affordable. Filet mignon with proscutto around it, is wonderful. One thing I don't think is great is the Chocolate souffle. It's good but Its not a soufflé. It's a Chocolat fondant cake or lava cake."
