4 Olives RestaurantConsistently fantasticA newish transplant to Manhattan, I've eaten at 4 Olives a number of times and it never disappoints. This was my first time with a group and the restaurant, again, delivered with fantastic service, tasty cocktails, and delicious food. You can't miss with the seared beef tips or scallops and the Parmesan risotto is just divine. 4 Olives is always a treat! Wine "cave" and wine country maps really added to the ambiance and our server was polished and knowledgable. There aren't many places in Kansas, or even between Chicago and Vegas, for that matter, where you can get a properly-served bottle of wine, but 4 Olives is one of them. It's the details that count to us and the staff at 4 Olives didn't miss a beat. Very nice atmosphere for a romantic dinner or business meeting. Wonderful fresh fish (yes, really!) selections and locally-raised meats. Tuna was spectacular, as were the scallops and filet mignon. Tiramisu was less than to be desired, but the decadence of the bread pudding and salted toffee more than made up for it. I highly recommend expanding your cocktail horizons and trying some new things. I had the lamb shank and my friend had the andouille. We both agreed that both entrees were rich in flavor and the meat was cooked superbly. They had a diverse enough menu to cater to everyone and everything on the menu is delicious. A number of the work colleagues remarked that they were surprised to find such a good restaurant nearby and planned to come again. Complimentary Edamame appetizer sample from the Chef was a nice touch. Our table near the door was noisy and drafty on a cold evening. We were courteously and graciously moved to private dining. Our Waitress was attentive but not aware of gastrointestinal side effects of the evenings special entree, Walu (aka escarole), which would have been helpful information. Tuna entree was perfect! It was delicious. All the flavors were nicely balanced and harmonious. Perfect serving size. I also had the recommended Shiraz to go with it. Mmmm. For an appetizer, we had oysters, which were great, and bruschetta, which was good but quite small — four small slices of bread for ten bucks. My sister had a sesame-crusted seared ahi tuna with a spicy sauce and wasabi mashed potatoes, which I didn't think was as good as my entree.
