  • "Loved this restaurant! The host/owner is super friendly and visited each table to make sure everyone was satisfied. The staff is very friendly and helpful, another waitress even stopped at our table to tell us about the desserts when she noticed our waitress was busy with a large party. The food is amazing. Very fresh and wonderfully presented. We had the fried calamari appetizer which was not your usual rings, but strips of tender calamari. Really good. We will be back for sure!"

  • "This spot has housed a number of restaurants. (2 prior that I visited) The new owners have taken the level of the cuisine up several notches. I was with a large group. Everyone enjoyed the food and drink. The owner and servers were very solicitous and helpful. I think the experience was in the top 5% of fine dining experiences in town."

  • "This is listed as one of best restaurants in Syracuse so was expecting perfection. We got helpful friendly staff, creative delicious food. Tasting menu served by the chef himself. Staff could be more polished. Wine pairings with tasting not introduced until we asked. Waitress unsure of whether entire table had to do tasting menu or if only a few of us could. Some of food design could be elevated. Fish course had perfectly cooked fish and inventive, stuffed whole calamari. Calamari is always tough to cut and odd to look at. The stuffing wasn't delicious enough to overcome the challenge in eating it. It was all on a bed of spinach which was too bitter. Other dishes including a scallop dish and a lamb chop dish were perfect ."

  • "With the dining week special extended for a third week we enjoyed a delightful 4 course meal. A quail chartreuse appetizer, a pumpkin soup or harvest salad, lobster encrusted salmon, butternut squash ravioli. So many great choices. Flavors were bright and fresh. The staff were all very attentive and pleasant. The owner made several visits to our table, very much interested in our opinions and aimed to please. The only negatives were that there is only a beer or wine list, and our waitress was not familiar with the menu. She was however, quick to find out the answers to our questions. I look forward to returning for their seasonal menu changes the owner spoke to us about."

  • "Well worth a return visit for the food alone. The atmosphere is warm and pleasant. The decor is nicely done with exposed brickwork, antique framed objects on the wall and nice low lighting. We had the duck dish and the veal bouillabaisse. The duck was extraordinary, well prepared and very tender. The veal dish was somewhat lacking in veal but packed with flavor. Both dishes were served with freshly made pasta. Our server , while very pleasant and friendly, was somewhat lacking in her knowledge of the menu items and their preparation. A little more training and experience and she would be a good server. Overall, 317 was a great experience for the food and atmosphere."

  • "new chef and some remodeling really put some life back in this location. we did the chef's tasting and had some menu items, some off menu---trout with vanilla butter sauce, sound odd but so delicious! the food was awesome and the place was hopping during dining week. looking forward to going back and trying everything on the menu. i thought the tasting menu was a bargain for what you get. dining week menu also a good deal, but regular menu is appropriately priced for the items"

  • "we were there to try their dining week menu. we had the lamb meatballs and fried squid for apetizers. they were good, although the meatballs had strong mutten smell. soup and salad were fine. we were a little disappointed that the duck ragout in the third course was replaced by a "veal" dish. salmon was fresh enough to cook to "medium" without fishy smell. the "veal" dish was apparently just a pasta and tomato sauce dish. the sauce tasted good but veal and cheese were not seen. we should have asked how the dish ws like before ordering it. Drink selection was adequate with moderate price. service was friendly and prompt. the place has an interesting downtown atmosphere with tables close to each other. the regular menu is in high price range."

  • "This restaurant had only been open a week, so I fully expect to go back and enjoy it when the kinks are worked out. Food was a bit cold, very tasty though. Outstanding environment, should be a local hot spot once they get it all figured out. Menu looked like it had a great variety of options too."

  • "Ate here for restaurant week with a party of 5 so tried a number of different dishes. Most were tasty. Menu was unique. Lamb appetizer was amazing. Sweet potato duck soup-outstanding. Loved the parsnip puree with the brisket dish. A few disappointments- vegetarian entree (version of aracini using pasta instead) was really bland. Desserts were creative in theory but didn't taste great. No chocolate offering either. Server was very friendly and good-natured, but lacked the knowledge and attentiveness expected at a pricier restaurant (didn't know how to pronounce a few dishes, couldn't articulate how they tasted). Had to ask for beverage refills (water and wine). Dirty dishes weren't removed without asking. Potential for sure."

Service a bit lacking - dont care to be addressed as "you guys" and asked repeatedly to "just grab your forks off the plates" (as they are being cleared from course to course) Would definitely return but try for a different server"

  • "We dined during dining week and the restaurant was full! I don't think they normally are booked, so the service was quite slow. It took 45 mins before we got our appetizers and over and hour and a half to get our dinners. Again, I don't believe this would be the norm. Our server was kind and acknowledged our wait numerous times. The ambience make it enjoyable to wait so long. Dimmed lights and beautiful old building feel. The food was outstanding! We had calamari, which I'm still thinking about and a lobster crusted salmon/ duck ragout. Both were fantastic!"

  • "I was worried that I was too late to make a reservation, but the crew at 317 was amazingly accommodating. The service was amazing, from the front door until the wave goodbye. It has an excellent vibe for the "young professional", and 317 could hold its own in competition with NYC restaurants."

  • "We came home for the holidays and wanted to try something new in my husband's hometown. We expected to spend a little more and most selections were closer to 30$ per plate. I ordered a steak that was served over noodles that were a little salty for my tasted, however my husband ordered short ribs, that were amazing!! Overall we had a good experience but I'm not sure we'd go again."
