Diner Reviews
  • "Stayed at the Alleggro and discovered through Open Table reviews that the adjacent restaurant was supposed to be good. I normally go wandering the neighborhood and don't eat in hotels, but the reviews said it was good....and it was. Creative dishes and excellent service, especially from Chuck. Reasonable priced for a downtown hotel as well. On my 2nd night I was going to eat somewhere different, but with the hour and my good experience the night prior, I broke one of my rules in travelling and went back."

  • "I really enjoyed my dinner at 312 Chicago. The food was excellent with good portions and also had many gluten-free options. The waiter was very knowledgeable of the offerings and gave attentive service. Nice décor and maître d' was very cordial and came by a couple of times to see if we were enjoying our meal and that the food was good."

  • "If you are attending a show in Chicago's theater district, you will find that 312 Chicago is an an excellent spot to dine before the show. Good food, excellent service, and close to all of the theaters. Whether you order pasta, seafood, beef or chicken, the preparation and presentation is excellent, and the food is very good."

  • "We were going to the Goodman Theater. 312 Chicago was a convenient location with very reasonable valet parking through the hotel next door. We enjoyed our meals, service was good, and we were finished in plenty of time to get to the theater."

  • "The food is too greasy and overpriced, service is good and fast. The location is great, but food, not so much."

  • "Wonderful atmosphere and delicious food at a reasonable price for before going to the theater. Have already recommended this restaurant to some friends :)"

  • "312 is conveniently located near theaters, city hall and the business district with transportation and parking nearby. However, the menu has little to offer vegetarians."

  • "We enjoyed our lunch; the food and service were very good. Our portions were just right and no one wanted dessert. It was a little hard to hold a conversation among the three of us."

  • "It's often hard to get a reservation in the downtown theater district for dinner before a show. 312 was available, we gave it a try, and were pleased."

  • "Although our initial impression was not favorable due to the dark décor and closed-in environment, the superb service, wines and food made the evening memorable. The waiters were very professional and assisted with excellent wine and meal choices. Kudos to the kitchen and Chef for beautifully presented plates and delicious courses. Perfect spot for an elegant meal before strolling to the Goodman theatre!"

  • "My husband, daughter and I had a wonderful pre-theatre meal at 312. The food and service were excellent and it was a quick (less than 5 min) walk to the Oriental Theatre."

  • "This is the second time I have taken my family to this restaurant and both times the food and service have been excellent. I have ordered the prefix but also individually off the menu. Great appetizers (buffalata), pasta, steak, etc. good wine list as well."

  • "My husband and I were celebrating a special occasion, and we picked the perfect place. Upon arriving, we were led to a very romantic table that the hostess reserved especially for us. That was followed by superb service - attentive but not intrusive. The monk fish special was one of the most delicious meals I have ever had, and I eat out a LOT. I highly recommend 312 Chicago for your special occasion, or just to have a wonderful experience"

  • "The coffee was smooth, the juice freshly squeezed, and the wait staff have a great sense of humor. I had the eggs benedict with egg whites and smoked salmon and a side of armes an cheese potatoes. It was pure perfection! The salmon had a delicate infusion of flavors that gave the dish just the right harmony."

  • "My group of eight colleagues was well-accommodated by the friendly staff and also impressed by the food. The breakfast menu has a good variety and the portions are generous. 312 is a great place to eat in the Loop. I hope to try their lunch and dinner!"

  • "Salmon was perfectly grilled and moist on the inside. The scallop appetizer was a wonderful mix of flavors - sweet, savory & spicy. Burrata was nicely done and tomatoes well seasoned. Pork loin was also very good. We enjoyed the wine pairing."

  • "Trying to create a separate identity from Kimpton hotel that it is next to and affiliated. Service was friendly if not the most polished. Food was surprisingly good. I'm betting the chef will be onto his/her own place soon, bug in the meantime a nice find."

  • "We had dinner for 2 at 312 on a Saturday night in July. We chose the restaurant because it was very close to our hotel, the Allegro not realizing it was in the hotel. It was excellent. We had the three course fixed price menu option and it was excellent. - The salmon was prepared just right and the portions were nice sized for all three courses. Desserts were excellent as well. Service was attentive and excellent as well."

  • "This is a really comfortable dependable restaurant. Our second time here and good once again. It feels like a solid place to go...not your normal 'connected to a hotel' place. Also fairly easy to get reservation. Nice for fish, but also has plenty of beef and vegetarian options."

  • "We're a family group, with varied tastes. We've had wonderful service--twice recently with the same waiter, who takes great pains to make sensible suggestions and accommodate individual requests. The food is dandy, but the service is truly outstanding."

  • "This was our second time at 312 and once again we were delighted by the great food, outstanding (and friendly) service and the convenience to the downtown theater district. In addition to having attended a matinee that afternoon we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. What a charming surprise to find a card, signed by the entire restaurant staff, at our table when we were seated (they gave us dessert as well). The 3 course "pre-fixe" with wine pairing is a true bargain and particularly nice if you are catching a show at one of the nearby theaters. Perhaps most impressive is not the food (which is excellent) or the nicely selected wine list, but the incredible service by friendly and knowledgeable wait staff. Highly recommended!"

  • "We found 312 Chicago to have delicious Italian food, excellent service and made our 47th Anniversary a special occasion. The Capesante (Seared Scallops), Burrata (Burrata Cheese with Grilled Crostini), Fileto (Beef Tenderloin w/Porcini Mushroom Sauce), and Torta di Cioccolato were all excellent The oil dip mixture served with the three types of Italian bread was delicious. If you like Italian food you must make 312 Chicago a must to dine at. Chef Luca Corazzina, Italian-Born, has created a great menu of Italian dishes to select from."

  • "We were headed for Goodman, and this is nearby, with excellent food, great service, and quiet enough to hear our own conversation. This is definitely on our list of pre-theater spots!"

  • "My husband and I were looking for a good seafood dinner, and boy, did we find it at 312! We split the scallop appetizer, salmon entree, and homemade cappachino ice cream.Wonderful! Service couldn't have been better, either! We asked one waiter where Eataly was, and when he didn't know he got a waitress to come over and explain. Very friendly, but professional. Place was only half full, and quiet. It should be packed! We're definitely coming back!"

  • "We had reservations for 5:30pm perfect time and location to Oriental Theater for our 7:00pm show for Motown! (a MUST SEE MUSICAL) The staff was exceptional, the food was authentic Italian cuisine, felt like we were in Italy. Made fresh pasta, rich sauces, and fantastic wine selection. Great place and would highly recommend 312."

  • "Stopped by for dinner before a pre-broadway show. Got there early sat down right away. Needed time to review choices and the waiter gave us plenty of space. Fried seafood app was good and not too heavy. Wife had the risotto special and she loved it. Had the chicken ravioli and it was also good. Best thing was after leaving my debit card behind, they called within 10 minutes of leaving to let me know that I had left it behind at the restaurant."

  • "We were in town to see Motown-The Musical and wanted a great restaurant in the theatre district. A friend recommended 312 Chicago. Our party of 4 had a great experience. Marco took good care of us. Excellent craft drinks, food and dessert. I highly recommend the Pork tenderloin-my son's choice. The Bucatini (seafood pasta) and the salmon."

  • "We went to 312 Chicago for an anniversary dinner. The host and waitress were attentive and wanted the evening to go well. The food was very good, I had the Carpaccio (nice plating), Salmon which was perfectly seared and cooked to medium rare (as a request) rather than medium and a vanilla cherry cheesecake. This was a 3 course meal that is offered with an optional wine pairing. There were a variety of other offering available for that special. We enjoyed our time there."

  • "Loop restaurant in business for a long time and very convenient to theaters/shopping. Out waiter was friendly and attentive, and after having an incompetent at another restaurant the previous night, we greatly appreciated this waiter's professionalism. The salmon on the $38 three-course special was excellent as were the accompanying vegies, and the flourless chocolate cake - dense, rich and very chocolatey. First time at this place but probably not my last."

  • "My husband and I were going to see a show in the theater district, and that is how we came to be at 312. What a find! I will suggest it to everyone I know. DELICIOUS wine and food and WOW!! The bread and tapenade= incredible. So close to the Oriental Theater that we didn't have to rush at all."

  • "Great location within walking distance of theaters. Server (Allison) did not ask if we had theater tickets, but she was efficient enough that it didn't matter - we had plenty of time. She made good recommendations, was very knowledgeable, and personable. Bacon wrapped shrimp (gamberoni) were good, though a bit dense and dry due to their huge size. My husband's salmon was perfectly seared and crisp on the outside, while beautifully moist on the inside. The best part was the flourless chocolate cake - decadent! Nice wine list, though overpriced -- have seen the same wines for less and much less elsewhere. Total bill was $135 for one three course dinner, one entree, a bottle of wine, and an after dinner coffee."

  • "Food and ambience were very good. Service also good, but the waiter did not pair the wines with the courses as was ordered. Nonetheless it was a great experience."
