The scallop appetizer was amazing. The only thing I wasn't so impressed with was my wine. Although it was delicious, there was a lot of sediments at the end of the glass. I think it should've been filtered out, really ruins the experience.

The restaurant was very accommodating when we requested to share both salad and entree which they split in the kitchen for us. The food was good, service good even though the restaurant was extremely busy. My only complaint is the location of our table which was squeezed in near the kitchen and the coat rack with a lot of hustle and bustle. My suggestion would be to eliminate that table altogether or at least put a room divider separating the coat rack from the table.

Our waiter was great-paced everything perfectly so we had plenty of time to walk to the theater. He gave excellent recommendations for appetizer, entrée and wine. He didn't skew toward the highest priced items either. My friend had the fish special and I had tortelloni. Both excellent. In addition to theater goers, also noted a couple families with younger kids. Only detraction was the "tatted" guy in a sleeveless undershirt parked there for most of our meal--BTW the bar is really poorly situated and obstructs access to the door and seating. Hey, not usually uptight on dress code, but he looked like he missed the turn for Al's Beef.

Our party of 5 had a table that was located uncomfortably close to the path to the kitchen. This restaurant does not seem to be set up well for groups larger than 4. One of the guests has a gluten allergy but was accommodated by the sous chef who suggested several options to make the meal gluten-free. The pasta and scallop dish was great, while the pork tenderloin was slightly too salty/sagey. Overall it was a good experience.

I ate at 312 Chicago with 2 others the night before running the Chicago Marathon. I was impressed with the experience all around. We were seated and after determining that we were visiting for the race, our waiter gave us the standard menu as well as a pre-fixe menu that the chef had built specifically for runners. There were flavorful, satisfying pasta options for the carbo-loaders, a couple of healthier dessert options, and a list of mocktails (I ordered the Runner's Edge - excellent in its pure form, AND with added gin). I was really pleased at the restaurant's attention to what was going on in town and surprised that they had gone to such lengths to cater to visiting runners. The food was unbelievable - I'd come back in a heartbeat.

My husband and I dined here for the first time and enjoyed it immensely. Ambience was great. Very nice for a romantic evening out! Service was great! The food was super! My husband had the tortellini soup and I had the short rib and polenta. They were DELISH!!! For our main course we enjoyed mahi mahi and pork and they were both fantastic. The presentation of the food was also great! A definite 8/10!

If you are looking for a sophisticated atmosphere with a notable wine list but average (think Maggianos) food you have found your place. The pricing was above that which was suggested by the quality of the food. You are paying for the location (near Theater district and City hall). Tourists beware, Chicago has much more to offer. Please understand your dinner here will be fine, but there are many other options.

It's a beautiful space. The waitstaff are nice but as non-busy as it was at the time we were there it was pretty slow service. The food is always attractive and delicious. Definitely pricier than I choose for a breakfast in a hotel. We love the Kimpton hotels so we'll most likely be back!

Our group of 6 dined on the eve of Chicago Gourmet weekend with high anticipation of an exciting flavorful meal. Our dinner was good and well serviced by the wait staff but simply not spectacular. As we all order our own plates but share tastes around the table, the chicken dish and the pike were the least flavorful and really should have been kicked-up a notch as these dishes have such a clean palette from which to start embellishing. The lack of a huge crowd on a Saturday night in downtown Chicago should have been a tip off, but we'd already made the reservation and were committed with our group.

312 Chicago is excellent when one wants a little more than a sandwich joint, take out place and doesn't mind spending a few extra dollars on the lunch tab. Portions are on the light side for the corresponding tab, but more than enough. The caesar salad is excellent and the actual anchovy is a nice touch and tastes fantastic against the remaining ingredients. I had the Melanzane, my friend had the Pollo Panini - both delicious, and we split the Fruta di Bosca dessert, which was fabulous. Could have used a tad larger scoop of ginger gelato for $10, but otherwise, perfect. The flavors of the fresh berries, mint and ginger was just wonderful!

Right near all the theatres on Randolph St. and so close to all the government buildings on Washington. Valet Park for just $13. Service is fast and friendly. All the Italian meals prepared top-notch. Priced very moderate. Extensive wine list, but we saved money by bringing our own bottle, with chilled bucket service provided. Reminds me of so many New York eateries, convenient and tasty. Upper level rooms classy tables and directly connects to the Hotel Allegro Hotel with its fancy Deco lobby and warm charm. We will make this our go to restaurant from now on whenever we are in the Loop!

It was advertised that the pasta was fresh and homemade but it tasted like it was previously frozen. I would probably only come back if it was because of a convenience to wherever I was staying.
