Diner Reviews
  • "I stayed at the hotel allegro so as far as convenience to location and a last minute reservation it worked out great. They had a pretty big wine list and the waiters and staff were friendly. It was advertised that the pasta was fresh and homemade but it tasted like it was previously frozen. I would probably only come back if it was because of a convenience to wherever I was staying."

  • "We sit at the Chef's Bar all the time. Sous Chef Juan and his crew are amazingly talented and thoroughly entertaining. The menu, including the wine, is thoughtful, tasty, fresh, and full of complexity. The service is extraordinary, knowledgable, and thorough. Nothing pretentious….just a great restaurant with a great staff."

  • "Always great food and service They have a three course special which is worthwhile although I have to cut my portions in half. What I take home gets eaten by my girlfriend Never see it in the refrig past the next morning They have a spot along the north side were you can sit No music or distractions from other diners. My hearing ain't what it used to be so I need the ability to hear someone talk without a lot of ambiant noise."

  • "The waiter's advice was spot on, the food delectable and the noise level low enough enough so we could talk to one another."

  • "312 Chicago - Par Excellence! We were a small party of four to celebrate our son and daughter-in-law's 1st anniversary. We were greated and treated with welcoming respect and good humor. Chef Luca Corazzina never fails to delight with his cullinary mastery. The scallops with mango salsa appetizer - to die for. My son and I ordered the dry aged strip steak special - perfection. My husband was quite happy with his Salmone as was my daughter-in-law with the Bucatini. Our server, Sal, was impeccable in every way and has a wonderful sense of humor! I love that 312 has partnered with the Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation for their tennis shoes campaign. Bring is tennies and get a free dessert! We will be back!!!"

  • "Overall, a wonderful experience. The servers were very attentive and prompt and recommended the appropriate wine to pair with our entrees. The restaurant gave us a special treat in honor of our celebration. I would especially recommend this restaurant for those attending theatre/concert or event in the downtown Loop area."

  • "Great service, nice, typical Italian place but the food was OK. Not bad at all but just not that tasty. Nice menu though."

  • "This is a lovely restaurant with excellent appetizers, entrees, and desserts. It has a great bar and a very nice wine list. They make sure you are not rushed, but get to the theater on time."

  • "Our server, Trixi, was thoughtful & readily available. We were so pleased with her & appreciated not feeling rushed whatsoever. The staff went the extra mile to make our anniversary dinner special & the food was delicious as always"

  • "On a weekend that was busy for downtown (Lollapalooza, Bears Family Day), 312 was a nice-paced place to be. Great service and great food. A perfect dinner before my date with my wife at the theater. Not overcrowded and not to loud. Only a couple of blocks from the theater. My wife had the Tortaloni and can't stop talking about it!"

  • "We enjoyed a truly excellent experience recently at 312 Chicago. Located very near the Civic Opera House and other theaters this restaurant features a beautifully appointed dining area with a quiet atmosphere. The service was friendly and not intrusive but very attentive. The wines were all very well suited to the food and the food itself was worth the visit. They took care of vegan needs very well so each of us had a marvelous meal. I highly recommend it for a nice quiet dinner experience and for groups up to 6 from what I saw. They may have larger areas upstairs so I cannot speak for that."

  • "First time at this restaurant. Found on open table. Group of 6 of us were in town for a wedding. Had a variety of items on the menu but salads, appetizers and entrees all fantastic. Gnocchi with basil pesto was unique and tasty."

  • "Went prior to theatre. Delicious food, and service was good. Not rushed, but made sure we got our food to get out on time. Enjoyed the experience."

  • "Three people in my party said that the steak was the best they have had. I had risotto which was the special and although it was good it was very filling. I would recommend it as an appetizer instead. One person in our party had the octopus and said it was very tender. There was plenty of bread with a great dipping olive oil and spice sauce. The restaurant couldn't accommodate our party of 9 but we sat 6 at one table and three at a table next to us which worked out fine. I would definitely recommend and return."

  • "Amazing buffala, amazing halibut, amazing fillet, and the freshest fruits in their amazing desserts. Really made our romantic night out one to remember."

  • "We were seated promptly. Foid came out quickly, but other than that the service was less than optimal -- slow. Food was excellent and the portions were a good size, but not too big."

  • "Stayed at the Alleggro and discovered through Open Table reviews that the adjacent restaurant was supposed to be good. I normally go wandering the neighborhood and don't eat in hotels, but the reviews said it was good....and it was. Creative dishes and excellent service, especially from Chuck. Reasonable priced for a downtown hotel as well. On my 2nd night I was going to eat somewhere different, but with the hour and my good experience the night prior, I broke one of my rules in travelling and went back."

  • "We ate here prior to seeing Brigadoon on a Saturday. Our waiter Eric was outstanding. i have an allergy to nuts and he offered alternatives to the preparation of the different menu items. He was very attentive during our visit and put us at ease regarding getting to the show. The food was delicious. I had the tortellini and my wife had the risotto. The flourless chocolate cake for desert hit the spot. During the meal, my wife spilled some chocolate sauce on her white sweater. She was trying to wipe it off with a napkin and the manger quickly came over and brought some seltzer water to clean it. Its little things like this, that show you how important it is for them to make it a special dining experience"

Nice décor and maître d' was very cordial and came by a couple of times to see if we were enjoying our meal and that the food was good."

  • "If you are attending a show in Chicago's theater district, you will find that 312 Chicago is an an excellent spot to dine before the show. Good food, excellent service, and close to all of the theaters. Whether you order pasta, seafood, beef or chicken, the preparation and presentation is excellent, and the food is very good."

  • "We were going to the Goodman Theater. 312 Chicago was a convenient location with very reasonable valet parking through the hotel next door. We enjoyed our meals, service was good, and we were finished in plenty of time to get to the theater."

  • "The food is too greasy and overpriced, service is good and fast. The location is great, but food, not so much."

  • "I surprised my husband with tickets to the Motown Musical at the Oriental Theater right down the street. I was looking for a restaurant that was close enough to walk. What a great find!! 312 Chicago felt perfect the minute we walked in with wonderful smiles and greetings. The food was delicious, we opted for the full course meal with a dessert that was scrumptious. The ambiance is that of a 5 star restaurant, with wonderful service from making sure our water glasses were full to timing our courses perfectly. We were on time for Motown and 312 Chicago made it a perfect evening. I'm not sure my husband can top this one!!!"

  • "It's often hard to get a reservation in the downtown theater district for dinner before a show. 312 was available, we gave it a try, and were pleased."

  • "Although our initial impression was not favorable due to the dark décor and closed-in environment, the superb service, wines and food made the evening memorable. The waiters were very professional and assisted with excellent wine and meal choices. Kudos to the kitchen and Chef for beautifully presented plates and delicious courses. Perfect spot for an elegant meal before strolling to the Goodman theatre!"

  • "My husband and I were celebrating a special occasion, and we picked the perfect place. Upon arriving, we were led to a very romantic table that the hostess reserved especially for us. That was followed by superb service - attentive but not intrusive. The monk fish special was one of the most delicious meals I have ever had, and I eat out a LOT. I highly recommend 312 Chicago for your special occasion, or just to have a wonderful experience"

  • "Salmon was perfectly grilled and moist on the inside. The scallop appetizer was a wonderful mix of flavors - sweet, savory & spicy. Burrata was nicely done and tomatoes well seasoned. Pork loin was also very good. We enjoyed the wine pairing."
